Blogging from the streets of Tokyo on the iPhone. Tis Summer festival
time and as part of the festivities, many places carry around an
Omikoshi which is a vessel for the spirits or gods. Really love how
the Japanese have managed to keep their culture rich in tradition
which I'm sure I've said a magillion times.

iPhoneでブログの更新は楽しい〜。現在は商店街でお神輿の賑わいを見て

To be able to see that in-person would be great.. Sometimes I wish we had summer festivals here in my city. Sadly it's a lethargic community, which doesn't even promote any kind of holidays outside of Independence day.

wonder how heavy those things are, it seem to take a few people to carry it (as well as the person standing on the shrine)

Looks exciting. You'd never see things like that in North America.
Unless it's a protest or some "______'s rights" march. For all the wrong reasons. (´・ω・)
