Really nice video of Tokyo. Posted by member Hoochi.
That was a great video. Great choice of music too. Must be a total blast to live there.
Not bad video. Looks like the typical "come to Japan" piece, promoted by the tourist industry, though. I prefer this : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2LVcW-giO_M

NICE VIDEO!! i hope i can get there in two years (1ST STOP AKIHABARA!!!! XD)

Vice nice video. Makes me want to travel!
For some reason this didnt look recent to me so I went & found it on Youtube. Turns out it was shot in 2006. More recently than I thought. I was in Tokyo in October and was looking at the price of flights back there last night. Now if I could only find a way of making a living there :)
if you have ANY kind of university degree, you can teach English out there (which is a lot easier than it sounds). It pays good, and you could stay there for years if you like.
Sean, I hear English teachers pay sucks at an average of 3.8 million?
Yeah, with 3.8 million per year you can have only 150,000 yen per month for entertainments... Then again, that's not so bad actually.. I guess it's good for temporary job until you get better one?
Unfortunatly you wont find a english teaching job currently unless you have qualifications that really go with it. Since the collapse of nova the schools can/have start to be really selective. So many foreigners had to leave because no work for english teaching
True, Danny, it may be be that schools pay only an average of 3.8 million Yen, but if you're from England where everything is expensive and shitty, that's already worth it! Not everyone can make gangster amounts of money like us... he he. Besides, most Gaijin teachers I know in Japan, supplement their wages by secretly hooking up with some students from their teaching schools and giving them 1 on 1 private lessons. This can make you an extra Y2000 - Y3000 an hour. To "Uradox" : I'm sure that some school's standards have gone up a little since the crash of Nova. But not much, probably. Look at Berlitz's methods / teaching materials- the "top" English school in Japan - still pathetic by world language school standards! Like someone else said here - Teaching is the way you get into Japan, then you can look for something else while you're there - a couple of my friends even make $100,000 a year from just talking to some of their language school students and getting a job with THEIR company instead! (warning - they had good Japanese skills..)
Sean, sadly it is the case. The government did their best to offer many school positions. The rest either took other work or had to leave. In Shinjuku there is advertisement for a factory foreigners can work in :) It was all expected and warned months before the collapse. It's a fact that English teaching here at the moment will not come close to guaranteeing anyone a job. When/If it all dies down next year sure.
Absolutely wonderful video. ^^
