I always thought it was more the light novels everyone is enthralled with and the anime was just an accessory to them....well that and the dance in the ending.

This could simply be a fake to generate rumors. Marketing companies love viral campaigns like this. No doubt this will be all over 2chan by now.
I would doubt that. This is similar to when they did Mystirque Sign. During the time when the site messed up in the anime so did it in real life. If you read the light novel, the site disappears and that message shows up around this time during the light novel. If they are doing this as a fake campaign, d**n, they're doing too much for something not much.
Dec. 18 is in the novels as an integral date of what season 2 would cover, so it's actually a very clever use of the website.
I strongly believe this is just trying to make people confuse. Anyway~ just cant wait to see what will come out!

I will only believe it when I see it announced, besides I would like to watch a second season but I'm not like those crazy fools that became fanatic over such normal series. True it had nice animation, characters and a stupid story, for me school rumble, utawarerumono beat the crap out of Haruhi.

is this just me or what? i watch all eps of haruhi 1st season. and find nothing SPECIAL in it, why do all ppl get hyped? they just "another school story in anime" to me i already watch the whole series for 3 times just to find what's so special in this

Yes, it's a like or hate anime series. I like it much, but I personally find there are better series. To like or not like is subjective. To wonder why many like it when you find it crap... is more up to them. They love their own poison, you see. ^^
Poison? I dont know about that, but I think that different perceptions lead to different opinions. I know people that love horrible movies, at least horrible to me. I also know people that love the Turn A gundam design.. I wont even get into that. The nagging question here is: "What the hell happened to her middle finger? Did it get cut off? Is it a clue?"... never watched this series, dont even know about it.. maybe she lost it in the first series? Lol.

Wow...the Haruhi.tv site is really amazing now! I first saw this kind of interactive web in Jigoku Shoujo's web. Well, not that a girl from hell really pop up anyway. But I guess what's more amazing is how DarkMirage manage to figure out the "passwords". Probably comes from light novel which I have yet to read a single one. *sob*

I'm still reading Book 3 of the series... I started reading the books on the net (in chinese) after finishing the first season The scenes, the facial expressions and even the voices of the characters from the anime kept coming back to me as I read, which was actually a lot more fun than just staring at the words... Maybe I should watch the second season of the anime first before I continue on to book four? Since the second season will be based on this book...

Book 4 for main back story, and book 5 for the fillers it would seem. (Educated guess here) The Disappearance is a very good arc through, so I am looking forward to it. Yuki is so cute in that arc you could DIE from MOE.
