A new shop called SuperModelers just opened in Akihabara and is dedicated to modeling. Find a load of Gundam, mecha and vehicle kits and the tools needed to build em. They also have a display booth so you can watch somebody building stuff and learn some techniques at the same time. Located on Chuo Dori (the big road in Akiba) - map at the bottom of this page. More images of the shop at Akibaos - via Gunota.
Very nice, wish they had a shop like that here :P
Why does that guy have a clipboard for a face?
Nice mask eh? lol
Hahaha a hard drive on his face.
nope. it's a High Definition paper bag. ('~')
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, why can't something that's even half of this shop open in Portugal?... (;_;) I would gladly be the one to open a shop like that, and I just know it would work 'cause of the increase in otakus around here lately, but the initial cost would be too much considering the amount of import material... Man this country sucks... I wanna go live in Tokyo... I wanna be able to go to Akihabara everyday... Get myself a proper japanese sports car without paying ridiculous taxes... GODDAMMIT I SAY!!
Also, sorry for letting all out like this... (>.
Not at all, my friend. I too, feel your pain. Your outrage is completely justified ^^.
Yeah, why do Japan always get the goods... ToT I really wish otaku culture is as strong here...
@benjamin takeyo anime machi provide small compressor and let the gold member brush their own model in their store but anime machi are not dedicating themself to model kit modelling though, sadly u r living in jakarta aren't u
@hendrik No, I don't ^^ I live in rural Indonesia where the word "otaku" is still alien to general population.
Wouldn't mind if you open one, I'll be the fist customer.
Will you have a clipboard on your face like the guy in the pic?
In the Philippines, you get a lot of these stuffs.
True, but you have watch out for rip-off bootlegs.
Oh God, I.... I think I just found Heaven!
OMG!! how come there's no such store like that HERE??!?!?!? OMG! AT LEAST SOMEONE PLEASE! HAVE MERCY!! (sobbing)
If I had a store like that in my town...? I'd be SO broke ALL the time. They'd have to put my picture on the door: "Warning watch out for this guy!"
I see heaven!!!! hahaha, I got 00 dynames, kyrios, virtue and custom flag in mail, i should be busy for a while. really want to get the unicorn, but budgt wont allow me to
The only thing that does some modelling kits where I live is Marquee Models. Now, Marquee Models (MM) don't do imports, but if wanted them to I have to get them to do the ordering or something (I could too... HLJ.com). MM do things like TCG's, Warhammer (40K) TG's, Paint, Car kits (Tamiya), tanks etc and small collection of pre-built models and figures. None of which is otaku'ness haha!
wow, if I went to shop like that, I'd probably pee in my pants. Sugooooiii... whoops. *runs to the bathroom* ^^; definitely going to my must-go-to-in-Japan list. ^^
I would have to check this place out. I bet there are rare aftermarket parts and conversion kits. Normally I would be yelling about the fact that we dont have a store like this here, but whats the point? Thats wut da internets r 4.
I will be going there for my winter break...
I wonder if they have any built models on display. Unless they sell stuff cheaper than retail, I'm not sure if I would buy from them. Crappy ceiling though.
I have found Mecca! I shall pray 3 times a day in the direction of this store from this day forth!
That places make me stayed a many hour Fell like in Heaven oh Hobby
Man who do I have to kill to have a store that's even half as well equipped near me. All the hobby stores within 50 miles suck, they mostly carry RC stuff with a very small selection of plastic model stuff.
Oh wow. I'd love to go there and splurge lots of moola. D:
I dont even have anime stores around here, much less stores that import gundams... yet another reason to visit japan.
Singapore has some small shops here and there but this is madness! Spartan! RAWR!!
Damn... that sure is nice. Wish they had something like this over here. The most i've seen here is probably a shelf full of model kits. count at about 50+ kits. =(
It's going to be a paradise when I am there, so many models! 0.0 Going to build till my fingers hurt =x
your wallet will hurt before your finger hurt
wow nice store, they even have shopping baskets :) , but one PG gunpla model and your basket will come in no use. Whats the point of that?
agreed, they should have huge platform carts that take 2000lbs of load.
The model stores I've been to in the US mostly seem to carry everything except gunpla--unless you find some store that imports like an anime store... or an asian toy store in a high asian population town.
I sooo need to go there. I just wish they have resin figure kits as well, as the pics suggest otherwise. but I would love to check some of the techniques ppl use to paint their stuff!!
if there's such a big modeling store in singapore, half of my saving will be gone. ('~')
But your joy will be complete.
Investment, financial consequences, unexpected events (requiring resources), etc. But if you planned things very well, go for broke! (literally).
Lol, its almost scary to admit this, but I set up an account just to buy stuff like this. I have it rolling over so it builds continuous compound interest at a high rate. This way, my money is making more money, and I can buy more stuff!! It also makes me keep a budget.. one I would happily blow out of the water when I visit this store.
I believe I just browned my pants... All i have around here is a Hobby Town that usually has 3-5 gundam models in stock per month :(
i have seen a hobbyist's heaven ^___^
wowsie it would take me for ever to try to do every gundamn known to man kind
THAT'S SHOPS A PARADISE!
is it me. or does that look lik heaven?
