I'm not going to jump to any conclusions unless I knew of the situation. Maybe that sign had something to do with it (no idea what it says?). Speaking from the standpoint (bad pun I know) of a disabled person, although not anywhere close to being elderly I'd have grabbed her foot as she was kicking and twisted her ankle should the kick have been made as an aggressive action. In regards to the picture though it makes me sad that more respect isn't shown to elderly folk.

well, i can make out the words "shoujo" on the girl's t-shirt, the fact that the fonts on the sign that the disabled person is holding and the girl's t-shirt is similar leads me to believe this is actually a stunt and not an actual case of public assault

well, the sign does say please do "somethng" (can't make it out cos it's too blurry. Given that the japanese homeless aren't known for sitting on their asses waiting for handouts, I'm guessing there's some joke we're missing because we can't read the sign.
i can roughly make out the characters 恋人 which means lover and 障x者 (i can't see clearly the 2nd character) which probably means a disabled person.

hmm im curious.. i was in japan for about 5mo and i never saw any disabled people the entire time i was there.. How many or what % do you see compared to where you are from or other places you've been? in addition to that i only saw one bum.. and he was chillin on a piece of cardboard just outside a subway line in Tokyo. how many bums you seen ^^;?

Whether that Akiba girls is evil or not will depend on what the sign says (not mentioning so many other factors). I've seen homeless people in the city with signs that say "Curse me out for $1". Who knows?
Who knows what really happened. Maybe the old man did something terrible and made the girl went crazy like that. lol Cannot give a verdict without hard evidence and knowing what really happened. Learned about that from phoenix wright, you gotta make the girl testify, find contradiction in her testimony, and then present hard evidence. lol
