A Taxi service has been set up in Okayama where the drivers are all women. While reading the article at MSN, I was thinking to myself that I've never come across a lady taxi driver - anywhere in the world! Any female taxi drivers in your region?
Not many, but there are certainly female taxi drivers in my region.
The last time I bumped into a lady taxi driver was this Haitian girl in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, all she wanted to talk about was trying to get my buddies and I into strip clubs for some "Chinese Boom Boom."
If there are, I have yet to see them. Maybe the chance of mugging is too great? Not sure. Some of these "ladies" look like they could handle themselves alright though.
well, we have some female jeepney and tricycle drivers but i haven't encountered a female taxi driver before here maybe we have some but i haven't encountered one yet ^^;;;
It's a shame they're not in bikinis or those new garter-style pants. I'd pay for a ride even if I didn't really have anywhere to go.
Did you see some of those women? .. Im thinking that its the best idea to keep them dressed.. some of them.

Now that you mention it Danny, I have never seen a woman driving a taxi. Ever.That's pretty interesting.
We do have female taxi drivers here. Just that they are not very common ^^;
never seen one. but they do exist! and yeah. its better to keep those women dressed.
lots of female cabbies here in jersey. a lot of em are a bit more friendlier than your typical male cabdriver. I particularly like it when they call you "baby".
there's a couple I don't think cab driver is a 'manly' job... truck driver on the other hand....

agree. but I like such drivers. generally they are safer. because they have more mad skills! :P to me those who drives really really slow and too cautious are the ones that cause accidents man! the indecisiveness! dangerous!

In singapore it is very few... many I will meet 1 in 30 trips. Probably even less.
Yeah San Francisco has quite a few, Of course there are many macho lesbians here (aka "dykes") who are often attracted to "male only" jobs. As far as safety is concerned - I wouldnt recommend messing with these chicks. They'll have your manhood off faster than you can say "Bobbit". I'd say one in 30 drivers is a lady.
err...i've never seen one, because here, many crimes against taxi drivers (especially at night) has been done, don't think there is one in my country >_>
There are a lot of female taxi drivers here in Boise. None however are as cute as those girls though. The ones here are all much older ladies.

I saw one female taxi driver when i was in Japan! And in Sweden it's not very uncommon with female taxi drivers.

i sat in one before. there are female taxi drivers around here but not many.
i took a taxi 3 times in tokyo so far... and guess what? Once the taxi driver was a woman ^^ A woman taxi driver taking a bunch of drunk but well behaving gaijins into her cab. not bad huh :)
The taxi driver that I had in Okayama this year was an old dude. But he did have a cool Burberry print steering wheel cover.

got few here..very nice & polite..unlike the guys..but our uniform here is not as eye-catching as those...LOL...
