As feminine as crying may seem, I do admit some anime has been so damn good that it's somehow nearly brought me to tears. Whether it's from the stress on my eyes from watching for hours or just a damn good story. My write up on Gurren Lagann, on my blog, has made me think, does any one else cry for these things? Whether it's due to happiness or sadness? Do you cry? Come on, man up take my hand and admit it. And just so you guys know, the ladies like a guy with a sensitive side.
That's like saying real men wear pink. -,-
And what's wrong with pink? if a GAR character liked to wear pink I'd be damn fine with it.
No, no, you're missing my point. I never said anything was wrong with pink -- unless you assumed it yourself. ...And I have no idea what 'GAR' is. -,-
Erm... so, what's your point? O_O I guess everyone has their own conceptions. I personally like a real man who has balls enough to cry, wear pink... and still be sure of his masculinity (or sexuality, whatever might feel threatened). Here's the 4chan definition of GAR: A term used towards male characters and individuals who are so overwhelmingly manly that your own masculinity is absolutely *buried*, leaving you naught but a whimpering, swooning girl-child before them.
I was gonna ask that too actually. I know I heard you mention GAR before but forgot to ask. XD Now I know.
Her point was that even though real men do wear pink, it also creates the idea that you -must- wear pink to be a real man, and it simply isn't true. It's like saying all women are human therefore all humans are women.
I see, as in having to prove a point that is unnecessary to prove. I guess I need to polish my English if I couldn't see that one coming.
You are using an analogy to say that it's a way of thinking and it's OK, nothing wrong with that but might been misreaded.
Misread by me all the way ^^U
Masculine man wearing pink? that is a tad silly :P
actually, i bought pink shirt the other day and it's also linen. and my girl friend likes it. At some point in a man's life you gotta realize that it take a special kinda of guy to feel comfortable wearing pink. it's quite popular in office settings BTW.
Of course, you have to be able to pull pink off, too...I look horrid in pink...one of my co-workers, however, can pull it off easily... ...of course, it helps that he looks like the spitting image of Razor Ramone HG... ^^;
WOO HOO!!! LMAO ^_^
don't guys like it to be called "salmon" instead of pink? :P
'Nearly' teared on Welcome NHK, Gundam Seed+Destiny and Code Geass ... I wouldn't say sad - more emotional scenes. There I said it!
you're a better man for it too.
U are the man, dude! Real man do cry, it make them stronger.
Elfen Lied was rly good it got me to sob abit. Honey & Clover was really good too, when mayama was crying to rika-san i felt rly sad too beczu of how it relates to my RL =/ thats about all i can think of at the moment XD
well I'm not a guy but I do cry at anime/japanese drama ^^;;;;;; sometimes it's just so sad not to XP relief stress tho LOL
kimi ga nozomu eien really moved me
Eyes tear up... yes of course its happened. Now I've never bawled because of an emotional scene... The most would be a tear or 2. Stuff like AIR, Kanon, CLANNAD are great tear jerkers. I do agree that Gurren Lagann is one too, it was kinda unexpected too.
Fruits Basket is notorious for squeezing the tear ducts in my eyes...
I never thought of crying as feminine. In fact, some of the most emotional moments in anime are of men crying over a fallen comrade or a dead love one. I just love it when men have so strong emotions over someone they can't help crying. So guys, cry when it's due, you won't be less manly (in fact it'll be the other way round).
When watching Elfen Lied, Fate/Stay Night, and I think Gundam Wing Endless Waltz ending I almost teared up. The ending and the music just puts me in that mood and starts messing with my feelings. My favourite character(s) disappear and theres no more episodes to watch, no continuation. I feel as if I lost something. Oh and also Clannad, Kanon, and Air also made me reach that line. No tears come out but I am at the point of crying that if someone saw me might think of something weird.
My eyes are dry because of Naruto ^^; kidding. Nearly with Gungrave but no fluid came out.
Episode 19 of Naruto, I teared up when Zabuza finally showed some emotions for Haku. No joke. The series went completely downhill for me after that.
Naruto used to be great and has some of those moments but lately after so much crap I can't help mocking on them.
I agree. That's the only part that I really liked about naruto.
On some animes I ended up laughing to the point of having tears in my eyes. But my eyes usually water up on strong emotional scenes, I don't exactly cry but I feel the emotions build up in me. Seriosly what's the point of watching an anime, a serie or movie if one can't connect to anything in it and doesn't feel some sort of emotion while watching it... For me its just wasting time watching something that doesn't really get to me.
Blood Plus at the end Episode 49....I was moved to tears.(Especially when you feel so connected to the characters to a point when you can predict their actions in the series) its like all of the things that built the story up until the end were like a puzzle, and when the puzzle was complete you see the whole picture of EVERYTHING. That moment was like a Big explosion of emotion that caught me by surprise....It was also sad to see the series finally come to an end after watching it for 50 weeks. (1 new episode every Saturday)..I would pay money just so they could continue Blood Plus.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER The other sad moment in Blood+ is when Diva Raped and Killed. (eyes got a little watery)
And i just replyed to someone regarding this today: "I used not to cry ever when watching movie or a series but at some point it changed and damn Clannad was such a tear jerker for me, too." But also at Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Shuffle, Clannad, Negima and some more. I dont know when or why this changed but i dont really care. In fact i even started to enjoy sad series because of this (sound a bit masochistic... nvm^^)
I cried at the end every single Type-Moon production I've seen (Yes I cried both at the anime ending and Fate route ending), Onegai Sensei's ending, and Mahoromatic. So yea, I'm very prone to these stuff.
I don't know if anyone has seen "The Host", the Korean movie, but it was great and the whole situation with the little girl made me quite sad. She was so cute.
I haven't seen any Korean movies where I couldn't hold back my tears. But the problem is my mom is the one who used to always watch these, and...it's really awkward when we're both watching and crying ^^;
Hey, even the devil may cry so i think it's useless to judge humans feelings ^^
For anime, well I've gotten misty once or twice. But flat out crying? No. The last time I cried is when my Grandfather died back in March. Before that, I simply can't remember. I didn't even cry when my Grandmother passed even though I do love her very much. It was just that my Grandpa and I were extremely close.
I cry from anime sometimes, and yeah it can be from happiness or sadness. I don't mind it at all, it's healthy.
Didn't cried to any anime yet as of lately. For me it really depends on a situation, kinda hard to explain, but yeah I really want to find an anime that will make me cry.^^ TTGL didn't make my tears to fall in my cheeks, instead all my hair follicles stood up at every moment of the anime, maybe I watered my eyes a little bit because of the excitement and hotbloodedness TTGL gave me. xD
When you are able to understand their feelings, you can't help but feel for them. My eyes start to water, but I haven't cried because of it.
I tear all the time. Who cares if you cry or not.
I cried at the end of every ep of Clannad. Dango Daizoku is heart-achingly sweet song. But then I cried at the last scene that Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader had.
Me too... Maybe not at every episode but most of them... CLANNAD is just too awesome!
I teared up from over-laughter watching Fumoffu.
at one point, I couldn't breathe, b/c I was laughing too much...
My heart will probably do the crying if its a touching anime, like the gurren lagann u wrote about. I dont usually cry physically but I think crying/tearing of the heart is the same thing as physically crying/tearing
My heart will cry but my eyes wont drop. If too touching sure will drop. Don't tell me a guy can't cry?!! There is a research state that Female life longer than Male because they can cry and tell everything to the guys and guys just keep in their heart and share alone...that makes all pressure so MALE DIE FAST because don't want to cry. SO MALES cry or you will die.(I mean if got pressure or problem..not cry without meaning)
It takes a lot for me to cry, much less anime. Though I do feel a little build of emotions inside during sad or really intense moments. And I catch myself holding my breath. *Thinks of last two episodes of Chobits*.
And nobody mentions Master Asia's death.... I kept trying to hold it in there but ended up having one down my cheek when he passed... T^T
Glad to see that you're really a Domon Kasshu fanboy. Your comment reminds me of this 4koma(left): http://dra-mata.com/manga/4koma/old/impact40.jpg ^^
That was a teary and touching moment indeed..
Voices and Promise Land made me teary eyed... Not G-L...
Susaku shanking Lelouch with a sword, thats all i have to say T_T
Thats all you have to say but you've said to much as it sounds like a key point in the series. ARGH must forget!
Byousoku 5cm made me cry T__T Its good to cry once in a while. Feel better afterwards. That 99 no Namida game for DS isn't too bad either but its hard to understand coz its in jap == but at least i cried
Whenever there is sentimental or emo scene, I don't hold it but cry out loud just for the sake of releasing my daily stress, it really does help rather well than taking antidepressant drugs. I remember crying in almost every episode of Black Jack. It's no big deal for mens to cry, it a mental relief afterall & thanks to anime my mental state is much better than ever ;-)
Some anime makes me sad but not enough to drive me to tears. Last time I remembered being watery eyed was when I'm watching a korean movie titled "Maundy Thursday". I only cry when the characters were portrayed by real humans. Don't know why I don't cry when its animated. But well, the closest feeling to crying was the seahorse episode of fruits basket.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G84vg8qA08 thats why the serie G gundam = Gar gundam
Well, i cry on some anime...some of the stories really brought tears to my eyes...
Crying isn't feminine at all! It's a natural human response, one that most of us don't indulge in often enough. It's an outlet for emotion, a real honest expression that's untainted by anything at all, that allows us to alleviate stress and anger etc. It's definitely preferable to expression through violence and other negative behaviour.
This may be a SPOILER (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER) to some. When Yoko's kiss killed Kamina and Kittan. But if she was real I'd still take the risk, and date her. Numbah one Yoko fan!
lol
Well, I would cry too if I find myself in a sad stuation, but not too easy to touch me that bad and to be honest there was no such situation for a long time now ... luckily ^^
There have been a good few anime that have made me cry. There shouldn't be a damn thing wrong with guys crying, it's human. People that think otherwise are closed-minded and brainwashed to believe stereotypes.
I have not cried on any anime I have watched yet. Maybe someday x_x
you don't know what you're missing, it's quite magical. and relieves stress quite a bit, but if it doesn't happen naturally for you then maybe not.
Clannad. Kanon brought me close, but not quite there.
Eyes got misty and/or tears falling along my cheek? Yes (more than I care to remember). Flat-out crying? No. Crying IS a biological response to strong emotional stimuli (among others), those that think of crying as an act of weakness are just making it harder on themselves.
It really depends. If its those "sacrifice one's [Insert something important here] for a loved one" or a dramatic love story spanning over OVER 9000 years. I will most like tear up.
Oh ya I forgot. The YoakeMae anime made me shed tears of PAIN
I very nearly shed tears when Suzaku did in Turn 25.
Too many manga/shows/animes have left me in tears ~ Eureka 7, Zegapain, Code Geass, Zettai Kareshi and so much more ~ *cries* I believe not only women are made of tears, there are man who are made of tears too ~ Just thinkin now is making my eyes water ~~
The last time i cried because and anime series was when i saw Air tv, since then i never cried again in a series, but i was close to with the final of geass.
