Yeah Halo 3 totally rulz, I'd say I enjoy playing it more then I used to enjoy Gears of War...
I liked Gears of War more, and also Call of Duty 4, imo Halo is overrated.
I might have enjoyed gears of war and call of duty 4 more for relaxation, but for competetive play halo is much much better than the two above, which i didnt feel had the same lvl of balance and skill requirement.
Halo 3 IS overrated, and the action is two slow paced. Games like Gears of war or Call of Duty 4 really put a mature aspect on Xbox live. one of the biggest downfalls is that there are too many children playing xbox live, which potentially ruins the online experience for older players such as myself. I'm betting the constant yelling has probably partially damaged my ears ;)
Both H3 and GOW are equally good to me. I don't think Halo 3 is slow paced, but that's maybe due to my lack of strategic tactics. Online Co-op- Friend: I see alot of enemies, let me use my SR. Me: No Need!(Jumps down to enemy position) *Five minutes of frantic fighting with inappropriate weapons. Usually results in me death or hasty retreat. Repeat everytime enemies appear in force.

I think it all depends on taste, i for one would rather play halo 3 as i think it is a much better in the deathmatch set up and it also has a bigger variety of game modes. For a team vs team game i suppose call of duty might be slightly better, but i think that the luck factor is bigger in call of duty 4 than in halo.

As a console shooter, Halo is great. Against other titles coming from the birthplace platform of FPS (PC), Halo is only decent. It's indeed overrated. I mean, doesn't anyone played any better game than Halo before this? I enjoyed Half Life 2, FEAR and Farcry more than Halo. I guess the aggressive, multi-million dollar advertising campaign by Microsoft/Bungie really gave a strong psychological impact upon the perspectives and opinions of gamers.

havent played shooters in quite a while, half life 2 is the last i played. for some reason id rather spend my monnys on rpg's.
Maybe its bark is worse than its bite??? I have a black and tan minature dauschund and her bark is the worst... Never really thought about trying to brandish her like a rifle either though ...She went nutz listening to all the crashes,booms and splattering from soundsystem of my hometheater when I played through single player mode of Halo3 and produce some nearly fatal barks by the reckoning of my own hearing a few times during the game. Didnt really seem to have an adverse effect on the Brutes during gameplay though.I have played Halo3 and Gears online a bit but not Call of Duty4 but in my opinion none of these online games will ever hold a candle to something like UT or Counterstrike. Heck even HL2 online for the DeathMatch gameplay is far more pleasing than anything I have played online as multiplayer - with either XBOX or PlayStation consoles to date. Guess it is all matter of personal interest or opinions but most everything coming out now is pale spinoff of something already done anyway....
GOW was a good game, was very much a tatic game and fun to play. But i didn't enjoy the online play that much on it. Halo3 on the other hand, the storyline wasn't that great, game play was the same as the Halo2. They could of done so much more to the campaign mode. But the Online support is awesome, having 4 players co-op was a great idea and more game should have it. And the matchmaking battle are also great, fun bungie.net makes it easy to keep track of your stat online. I think new maps just came out on live so i can't wait to d/l it.
I've reached the point in my life where I accept the fact that I'll never be good at console FPS ^^; Gears of War was pretty dang fun though. Too many Halo elites online for me to enjoy myself...though GoW is pretty much like that now too.

Halo is just an average shooter. Gears has a better story and CoD 4 has better multiplayer. I see what's left of the mature population of Halo migrating to Gears 2 when it comes out.
