Taken at the GSC offices. I feel bad throwing figure boxes away now that I know how much effort goes into designing them. Watched a few guys having a meeting on how the figure parts should be laid out so that they look balanced in the box and obviously ensure that the figure itself is protected in transit. This particular figure is Nendoroid Shana out this November. BTW, a particularly eagerly awaited figure will be announced on the English GSC site this week - keep those mince pies peeled.
I kept all of my boxes. I appreciate the designs of the boxes.
I keep all of my boxes too.. so far that is, with some figures still in them =p
me too! :3 and do you believe that boxes are also one of the reason i moved to PVCs from Trading Figures? ^^
Me too. I have 3 figures that are still in the box. no space on shelf and too afraid that it might lean are my reasons.
My home office is too small to keep all my figures out so I definitely keep the boxes. I can't imagine tossing the boxes then haphazardly tossing my collection into an empty paper box like they were nothing more than legos.
Me too, I keep all the boxes too. But it's really pain in the butt to keep them. They really take up a lot of space =(
me too, I kept all my boxes since the designs are nice! oh, and that Nendoroid Shana looks awesome! glad I pre-ordered it... =3
"... a particularly early awaited figure will be announced [...] this week" mmhhhh... hit F5. Nothing. hit F5. Still nothing... rrahh can't wait to see that ^^;
I would keep all my boxes.. but unfortunately.. i am unable to do so because of the lack of space in the house. :(
Love the good smile site, and their figures too. Now if only I could order directly from there....
I keep them. They're tucked on my bookshelf
It is always interesting to note just how much attention to detail is put into the "small" things that we take for granted. Still got all my boxes but they do suck up space. Can't wait for the figure announcement!
I keep all my boxes too. Might need them for storage/transport later.
I keep the boxes rather than throwing them away because the design on them are very nice.. And furthermore, as Panther said, just in case I have to move house.. I do hide the boxes when I take the figures out to display.. ^^
i don't think most of us will be moving houses that often right? ^^;
I cant even bring myself to ever think of throwing the boxes away! ;_; theyre the figures' home!
I too never throw away the boxes. I keep them so I can show off, because stacking them up makes them look REALLY big. Also, I want something in case I have to move or evacuate for a storm, things like that.
Mm.. "Split mold" packaging. I don't know of a comparable alternative. I've seen it fail only once, when the square and circle "buttons" are undone and tiny parts, such as hands, fall out of their nooks. Makes you think the pieces are missing, by first look through the window! That was an isolated incident; makes me question if the package was handled abusively, the box opened before, or had defective buttons (some loose, some not). I like Nendoroids because their boxes are small. Figmas' are similar in size.
i keep the nicer ones and throw away the not so good looking ones.
You talking about girls? We're talkin about boxes.
lololol
lol
i got no figurines to speak of, so can't comment! hurhur
I chuck the figure boxes away. Sure, they look nice, but what am I to do with them? I could admire the care and attention to detail taken to design that .. box. Or I can simply just admire my figures instead and free up more space.
I don't have that many yet so they're sitting in my basement. I can see myself throwing them away once they start to pile up though.
i wish they made the packaging smaller... it saves more money for them, gives us more space to store them, cheaper to ship around the globe, and better for the environment...
i keep then all, the design is so nice, and when i want to replace some figures, i put back in box safely.
I keep the boxes cause the figures are still in them...
Im always amazed when i opening up a new figurine box cos the way they packaged it is just feel so good. "My precious." >:D
boxes are important when moving out ^^;;;
indeed :D That's the main reason I keep my boxes ~
I should have realized that GSC and Max Factory put a lot of effort in their package design when I noticed what little tape they use. Compare that to American toys, which are not only smothered in tape holding the plastic shells together, but are typically tightly anchored to the back shell with a myriad of twistie ties. Opening them is so different: FIgma box: *slice box tape, slice shell tape, remove figure and parts* Elapsed time: 1.5 min American toy box: *slice box tape, try to open, realize there were three more clear pieces of tape you didn't see, slice those, forcefully remove interior shells, slice shell tape, realize there was yet MORE clear tape on the shell you missed, slice that, pry the shells open because you're too lazy to remove the last piece of tape, attempt to untwist twistie tie, realize it goes the other direction, realize you were right the first time, finally untwist twistie tie, try to straighten twistie tie to exctract it without damaging merchandise, give up and just yank it out, repeat with remaining twistie ties, double and triple check the box for any missing small items you may have missed, remove tape from merchandise, dump merchandise on table, and pass out* Elapsed time: 31.412 minutes.
lol! its like i just watched an episode of Mr Bean.
I don't have much figures but the ones I do have, I have kept some of the boxes, only because they looked really nice with the drawings on them. Sadly I too have thrown some out.
I keep all of my boxes, flattened down. I always recycle the plastic inserts like what you have pictured here.
Kept mine too. Boxes are the last thing you'll use if you really want to protect them.
Oh yes- there is a certain engineering behind box design and packaging- gotta get the goods to the consumer safely! I HATE the twisty ties, albeit they work great. Really well done packaging I keep, like certain box arts for some model kits. Ignis came in a blister so I chucked it, but if she came in a box I would keep it in the closet to transport her later.
I swear they must twist the ties both clockwise and counterclockwise in the factory, just to piss consumers off.
I used to keep them all, until I had to decide who gets more space, me or some boxes ^^U I've thrown most out, keeping only the ones from very big or expensive figurines. It's a tough decision, especially because the boxes are so nice and pretty, but sometimes you have to compromise.
I keep ALL of my boxes as I move a lot and need a safe way to transport figures. I really appreciate the effort those guys put in to make sure they work :) I'm hoping that announcement is Nendoroid Yoko! *crosses fingers*
I'd keep boxes, but I don't have the place to put them sadly...so I toss them.
I try to keep the packaging to everything I've ever bought... Sometimes items get lost, but I do believe that they will come in handy some day when the museum needs evidence of the toys people used to play with. :P
i do also keep the boxes , it gives me some nostalgic feel by staring at them .I also keep the accessories of the particular figure in it's own box .
I have a pretty large basement so holding onto boxes is no problem for me.
recycle, reduce, re-use
i would keep those boxes.. can't wait for nendo shana to release and arrive at my place.. >___<
i will never throw any of mine away!
I keep my boxes because I only have few.
I cant bear to throw my boxes away, so now my storeroom's in a mess. =P
i keep the boxes, since i started collecting recently, they havent really piled up yet and became a problem (so far) :)
gah.. don't guilt trip me dan. I had to abandon all my boxes when i moved this summer. =(
boxes are good. you may want to sell.. who knows.. Keep is good ^^
I keep the boxes, they're in a section of my cupboard for the time being. Sadly, they take up a lot of space and I've considered getting rid of them before...
I keep the boxes since it might come in handy...for now since I don't have display cases I keep them in their boxes for protection...
I dont throw away boxes, but now its started to become a problem as more and more figures start arriving. maybe i should store the figures in ziplock bags with names on them for easy retrieval.
I suppose they are trying to design the boxes to hold/support the figures without the use of pieces of transparent plastic like the ones found in previous nendoroids. Intelligent move to reduce cost, I would say.
I simply don't have the space, I throw my boxes away, unless it's a PVC box, those I keep in my closet. Only have 5 >_<
I keep it if its a cool box, like all my Yotsuba figures.
i'd keep the boxes but....T_T not enough space
Sure they look nice, but they're an awful waste of material, and most of the boxes are much larger than necessary. And when you buy multiple figures, this can add a LOT to shipping costs!
I've been figuring out a way to cut down material while trying to make it look good. So far, I've arrived at a design that's sort of wedge-shaped. The widest end of the wedge is where the figure can be displayed, and well-visible from front and sides. The sides of the wedge are where the extra parts go. There's space for everything, and the resulting box is significantly smaller than the current sizes for revoltech and figma boxes.
I keep all the boxes, I always appreciated and admire how the art of the box, how is designed outside and inside.
All my figurines are still in their boxes... until I find a place/case to properly display them. It gets dusty easily in my room, which sucks so right now they're in a reserved section of my book-case XD
I prefer to keep the boxes since I might wanna sell it in the future, but as well, this also gives a place for all the extra accessories that I have for my figurines.
I keep all the boxes of my figure mostly because of the artwork. Also it makes it easier for me to pack them if I'm moving.
I keep all my boxes its part of the collection
