PC2-6400 2GB memory is down to 3,980 yen in Akiba - seems pretty cheap to me. Has the price of memory gone down in your region too? Via Impress.

Unfortunately, no it has not. Sometimes there are good deals at like Best Buy, Circuit City, or the like. Though after a week they usually shoot back up. Though I have seen a slight drop in price over the past few years. So I guess its not too bad. In some respect it seems that America is behind the times.

You can get 2GB of DDR2 6400 dual channel memory sticks for $49 here in the USA. If you live in the USA check out newegg.com. Sorry, they don't ship to any other country. That includes Canada.

for canadians it would be tigerdirect, NCIX, or memoryexpress.com. i live like 6 blocks away from a memoryexpress but i have no job and still am with DDR. i'll be buying a new computer once i pick up a job. it's like $60 canadian for 2GB gaming ram.

From July to now the price her is nearly 50% now. Ohhh yeah, the price is going down (but we had a dollar decrease that helped A LOT).

The price of DDR2 is dropping like crazy! You can get a 1GB ram (DDR2 667) at around RM75 (USD22) here at Malaysia. Wish my mobo support DDR2 -.- (still using DDR1)

the twice the price is probably correct but not being able to get them easily is a lie... when building pcs its better to go for a branded one like crucial, corsair or g.skill instead of generic ram.

not for the same speed, DDR2 PC-6400 is dirt cheap here. buying good quality ram (2GB) won't set you back more than $100 canadian here.

In mexico that should be around a 120 dollars, computer goods are pretty expensive around here, and all that is related to technology, is better to buy them in the internet rather than local stores. Maybe ill ask for some to you danny and sell them here XD

Yep, prices of memory has tremendously gone down around here but sadly not as cheap as the ones you have there. I usually go to crucial.com to see what type of memory I need and I get them somewhere else since they don't ship to my region. If only they did. *sigh*

bought 2 x 1GB of PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM today. installed into my PC together with my original 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM. but strangely instead of showing me 4GB of RAM under my computer, it shows only 3326MB? can anyone enlighten me what's going on? thanks! (am using windows vista home premium)

I think Vista Home cannot use 4 GB of memory, the total addressing range is 32 bits but a part of it is reserved and cannot be used to access RAM. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us

Price depends on the brand and timings too, cheaper sticks are usually generic ddr2-800 with 5 or even 6 CAS latency and won't support overclocking (sometimes they don't even work reliably but you only see this when you test them with a bootable memtest86 CD). That being said the good sticks are quite cheap too here nowadays, I had trouble selling the good CL4 G-Skill sticks I had before for EUR 15/GB and it was already a few months ago... In France you can get 2 GB sticks of decent ddr2-800 memory for aroud EUR 34 (Kingston brand but only CL6) faster sticks with CL4 are around EUR 50
