Women only carriage in Japan

Women only carriage in Japan
No surprises as to what a women only carriage is like in Japan. Atmosphere just seems kinda odd.

I never knew there was a "women only" carriage in Japan. I wonder if it's always like that, no one making eye contact or talking.

Usually they are at the very front, right next to the train officer, and usually they were one or two carriages. I imagine they are actually nice to ride in. No drunken and/or smelly dudes, no kids running around acting crazy, probably quite peaceful!

One of the girls I stayed with when I lived there was an Austrilian lady. She had VERY large breasts and was somewhat tall, so she would get harrased all the time. She told me about how every single time the train had a female only carriage she would be on it!

there is no men only carriages, the reason for these women only carriages is because of chikans (perverts) who feel up women, so either the women in this carriage have been a victim or want to prevent that from happening

its as if they all knew...

no seriously, is this just something at random or is some sort of a "safe-train-ride" program? I have heard of taxis and buslines for women only, but even thats rare or maybe its common over there?

it's a common thing in japan to have these female only carriages because of the amount of perverts who fall into their temptations and actually feel up women.
These are real and i've seen them in japan, its not a test or anything of that nature.

so Females demand equal rights as male, but also request special treatment because they are different?! Such hypocrite. It's like the gay community these days. They demand to be treated equally by society, yet they want special privilege because they are homosexual.

What special privileges do homosexuals request? This is the first I've heard of it.

Anyway, why wouldn't you want to protect women from perverts? If there were a problem specifically for men then I'm sure all men would want action to be taken.

No, it's just that men seem to think that they can go round and touch what the hell they want on trains, nothing about equal rights!!

Aren't you being a sexist there, Astrana? That is not demanding equal rights. If men were being molested and not getting a special carriage because of that and women does, then that's wrong. It's because we don't need this so-called 'special' treatment, doesn't make women wrong to ask for it.

Are you saying that women should be left alone because they demand to be our equal?

So, if some ugly, smelly, disgusting middle-age women come up and molest/ sexually harass men, then they have to put up with it or otherwise be called a hypocrite(just because we men aren't allowed to protect them in the first place)?

we also have some women-only carriages here after the train management received a lot of complaints regarding molesters but it gets annoying that there are women who still gets in to the "ordinary" carriages >.>

I just want to see a male foreigner walk in one not knowing that they in a women only carriage if he could somehow do it without someone telling him.

*Foreigner man walks in carriage*
*Notices that all the passengers are staring at him*
*Passengers getting closer to him*
*Just noticed they are all women and just remembered that there is women only carriages*
*Women to close and man gets nerves but he Japanese is not that great so..*
*Man gets his butt kicked but 50 women*

Dont know if that could ever happen but man would it be funny to ask someone how they got all those cuts and bruises and that was their answer.

japanese people are understanding, or people in general are understanding about this type of situation. so no matter what country, i highly doubt this would happen.
i'm sure a lady would show him a picture of a sign that indicated it was a women only train, even if he still didn't understand, as long as if he didn't get too close to anyone i'm sure there would be no problem and if he did then it would be SUPER obvious and then he would get his ass kicked =P

It also says in big pink letters on the floor of the 'wait before the door area' on the platform "Women Only Carriage". You can't miss it and all its sparkles and pink.

Hmmmm, I guess the image catches you a little off guard at first, but not as off-guard as you'd feel to be a woman finding herself fondled up by some perv on an over-crowded train. Needless to say, if such a thing weren't such a common occurrence, there'd be no reason for self-imposed segregation.
