Looks like vids on YouTube will get the high quality treatment soon. Apparently YouTube kept the original format of the movies too. Looking forward to seeing how my stormtrooper vids turn out. More in English at News.com. Image via Gigazine.
That'd be nice to see the [MAD] videos people upload in higher quality, but how will it affect the speed of the site?
I've heard rumblings for some time. I imagine the new version of Flash is what the wait is for. The new version of Flash supporting h264 is going to make a huge impact on web video, though it won't be without consequences (requiring faster computers, more bandwidth saturation--I help run an ISP, so I know how crazy this is!).
sweet ^___^ watching M@D vidz in h264 format is made of win! ^^
I guess they are starting to feel the pressure Stag6 is putting on them with HD DivX streaming. ^_^
Youtube already uses the h.264 versions with the iPhone and AppleTV. They are better wuality than the standard fare. From what I understand, they will start using these versions once they switch to the new version of flash.
i hope the videos doesn't take too long to load. i remember previously youtube videos used to load very fast. nowadays it's became much slower. most of the time when i click to view a video, i pause it, do my other stuffs while it loads and come back to view it later.
High quality? It's hard to believe. This might add fuel to the fires seeing as on YouTube there are wars between flaggers, anti-anime fans, & otaku. This is just gonna influence otaku to upload more anime and make the anti-anime and flagger community even angrier. Who knows though, we'll see how it all plays out. I'm not much of a YouTube user for TV anime anymore though.
Think the h.264 flash videos are pretty buggy right now. They are like those mp3 files you try to extract from a .flv video at vixy.net - A loooooong total time. There was a Shakugan no Shana Second OP (JOINT) I saw which has a total time of 10 minutes. Hell, that is longer than even the PV of the song.
