Apparently done by the same folks that done Macross Zero so am a bit worried. The artwork and CG look pretty good though. On your watch list? Found via Abanzai.
Trailer look promising enough. Hope the story is not too dreary itself ^^.
"Ugh..." was the response I had when I heard it was from the same studio who delivered Macross Zero. The last decent series from the Macross franchise was Macross 7. I really despise their choice for going the CG route for their valkyries. The Macross trademark was the fluid motions of missles launching and track it's target; and don't forget watching the vallkyries transforming and performing any action what-so-ever. I miss those days. Macross Plus had that nailed down. I am very satisfied that Gundam went that route with Gundam Evolve and have learned their lesson to never venture in that 3D avenue ever again. Long live hand drawn 2D animations.
I hope I just read that wrongly... Macross 7 was terrible!! There hasn't been a properly good macross show since Plus. Zero started off good but fell apart when it started taking the mysterious alien and fantasy stuff route. But at least it showed that CG valkyries can work, and work very well! it's too easy to write off the CG work of Frontier since many shows get it wrong, but Zero, if nothing else, got CG dogfighting spot on!
Macross Zero was great! Is this a series? I'll definitely give it a try.
Looks interesting, looks like I'll have to dig out the original macross and finish watching it. Though I notice that the transformation thing looks a bit odd, or maybe it's just me.
it's about friggin time we got a new Macross series
Omg Macross is one of my first animes i watched
macross was good but not that good, but this new one looks ten times better... (^_^)
Macross series is always nice to watch! U get a lot of singing and love story! It is those love and peace type of war story!
Macross is one of my all time favorite. Hopefully we will get the full Macross package with this one. Lots of good music, good story and great action.
I cannot wait. I grew up watching Marcross. And I actually really likes macross zero :D
Thrust vectoring owns the sky.
I hope not like macross7
It's looks promising, according to ANN, the setting is around 30 years after events in the last Macross series (Macross 7) which that's at the year 2070. The new variable fighters for this series is called VF-25, no official call sign yet for this new craft. The music will be handled by Yoko Kanno. I thought Macross Zero was a bit "meh". Had high hopes when I watched the first 2 episodes/OVAs but the ending lost me. My favourite still remains Macross Plus. Trailer to Macross F looks ok. I like the look of the new fighter mode VF-25 but not sure about the battroid mode yet. CG is a bit ugh. But yeah, always been a fan of Macross and was one of the first TV anime that stayed in my memory banks.
Haven't seen any Macross in a while. Never got around to Macross Zero when it came out. So I might give it a chance even though the character designs look too generic and the Valkyrie transformation looks scary with it being split apart. And what's wrong with Haruhiko Mikimoto's character design? They transcend generations y'know.
the VF-25 design looks great~
