Hijacked from Raine who discovers a scan that talks about the end of Code Geass. How do you feel about your fave anime shows coming to an end? Do you wish they would go on forever like Naruto, One Piece etc or come to a proper end? And what do you feel is a good length for an anime show? Many shows of late seem to have about 12 - is that too short? Original text from Raine below.Image irrelevant. but sauce is 4chan As stated through this magazine scan Code Geass will end with the R2 season... We all saw it coming, but it's quite a shocker still ): What will you miss the most about the series? And how do you think it will end? For me, I will miss Lelouch ): and CC. Deep down I feel that the series will end just like Death Note did, but I really wish it wouldn't.
Why does it feel like if i press "This magazine scan" i will be majored spoiled? o_O i think i wont press the link...and lol @ picture
If you can't read Japanese, then there's no spoiler at all.
YAY!
50 episodes is a good and average Sunrise show length. I had kind of hoped code geass and gundam 00 would goback and forth for at least three cycles though.
nina presses a button n nukes the world, that crazy b!tch
image is hilarious btw, whose the lady and check out lulu's expression
nani, mai hanni?~
x infinity? lol
Meeya I. Hillmick from R2 ep. 12
Wow, she had a name too. Btw I also think there won't be a happy ending for Lulu, maybe somethingin the middle, like Lulu loosing but still getting rid of his daddy or channging the world. I hoped they would at least make a S3. I'll miss the girls from the series, well there are/will be doujinshi for sure.
obligatory NANI MAI HANNI?
Im kinda glad it will end at R2, long running animes tend to fail over time. about the series, I will miss this girl http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5329/failve3.jpg
Haha, I LOL'ed when I saw that while watching the episode.
i'm happy as long as they don't drag it out like naruto or one piece, though it probably won't be a happy ending either, but overall i hope for something epic at the finish line that will make the ride worth a while
Too many twist and turns is making watching this anime a pain for me, is good that is gonna end in season two cuz I dun think I can take more twists and I predict is gonna end with a fecked up ending like death note or maybe they're gonna try to do something "original" and end up ruining the whole series but I still hope lelouch kills suzaku and becomes the king of the world XD.
why do i feel that lulu was wishing that was suzaku.. (going by his displeased facial expression) D:!
I liked the first season better because it had more of the strategy stuff.
I agree with you there, i like chess and such games so the strategy appealed to me. Its fun to watch how lulu gets out of a jam, usually by the most grandiose methods possible.
Not really it was fun while it lasted and yes I also think lelouch should die. He's so similar to his father even though he goes against him. I wonder if Charles (or maybe someone higher) was the mastermind behind all things happened in order to create an ultimate successor. I hope suzaku make this objectivistic world a little more emotional.
let me replace lulu plzz
I don't feel sad about endings, I'll be like "Ahh, that was fun while it lasted" and do the "wipe tear from eye corner thing". I just want it to end in a way that's believable, not some "total rout" ending like GSD. But like some people here have said, three seasons might be too much. R2 already had a noticeable drop in Lelouch's battlefield tactics; I see battles won with power. What happened to something like Season 1's Suzaku V.S. The 4 Holy Swords fight? Touching on GSD, R2 seems to be in danger of going down that path; I mean, three different variations of the Guren and Lancelot in a single season? If it was one I'd like it, but as soon as we get intro'ed to the Guren Mk. II Flight Type they give us a new model...
I agree with you that I'll miss Lulu and C.C. the most. In fact, C.C. doesn't get much air time!! >.<
Agreed, C.C. should get more air time. Although I was really excited when I saw C.C. getting to fight in a mech a couple of episodes back.
Just caught up with the series...It's okay. Can't say it's my favorite anime, I think a lot of the story was too convenient. I downright hate some of the characters(like Nina, ugh...you can cut her from the show and nothing would change), but I like some of them too, like Kallen. Want to see how it ends, the 2nd season has been better IMO.
I have to agree with you a lot on the story and how some characters are just pointless. It's why I stopped watching the series after the 5th episode of R2.
I agree R1 was better due to stragity and everything.. and C.C. barly gets any airtime.. as far as length.. depends on the anime, some shows have the stamina for the long haul like bleach, Negima, etc., while others either go to long (dragon ball) or not enough (please teacher) so depends.. but most are allright. as to the end.. wish some wouldn't end cuz they were so much fun.. :D
Naruto and bleach are getting pretty boring, my anime needs ending.
yep, like the guy upstairs! it's pretty sad when 'ur fave anime ends, but, as U said, naruto, bleach, one piece, must end some day...I don't see any reason to postpone it so long time. At least, lonngest series get boring.
i like animes to be short and sweet. 24 episodes is just nice. animes that goes on for forever tend to be draggy and with lots of fillers.
agreed, I rather want animes to have around 20-30 episodes. And naruto or one piece is seem like endless.
12 eps often feels too short. But maybe that's because the shorter series tend to be more enjoyable and well written then those that are dragged on. A definite end gives the option of working towards it. hmm.. how will geass end... Nanali is not blind and only keeps her eyes shut, in the end she saves Zero using her "kill on sight" geass which she accidentally used on her mother. (I'm only making this up)
I don't mind long animes, in fact i tend to like them most. To me character develop is important in an anime. Long animes like Eureka 7 (around 50 episodes), Naruto, one piece I really like cause it explores many sides of a character and how they grow over time, and I like seeing my favorite characters get into new and different situations. As well as complex relations like between Renton and Eureka. Although I agree that the longer the series the lower the quality gets and can lead to many fillers. Though if its a series I really like, I'd wish it would go on longer. I be totally fine if Code Geass went on for a third season, in my opinion I think it should, I hope they don't rush the ending...
yea because in those 50 eps Renton went from a whiny little wuss to a real hardass.
I'm going to miss Anya and CC TAT I want more of Pizza Butt~
well sad relook again all episode code geass xD
Good things always have to come to an end.
Precisely why I haven't picked up any shows that run too long
Hmm... 12-13 Eps is a bit short depending on the kind of anime. For example Kanokon, i would have loved more of it lol (exspecialy since some questions left open... Kouta... 5 tails ok and now WHY? *needs to read the manga now* duuuuh) ... but i guess sometimes 12-13 Eps is okay, better then pulling a short story in an awesome length. As for Geass, i am not sure... it's a addicting show, i really like it and want to watch more despite the flaws which surface here and there. Two seasons seems okay as long they give me enough to laugh and still manage to capture me, which geass does. Funny picture btw, won't click for a spoiler though. I didn't wait a long hell for the end just to be spoiled. :D I hope they resolve all the open questions they didnt answear in S1.
nah I do love the series to bits but moving seasons will be a tad too tacky. By the level and pacing of the little details of the series, it's nearly impossible to keep abreast in writing...unlike naruto or bleach. Can you imagine by season 3 that they have gone waaaay too high tech and that the knighmare frames are now controlled by body actions ala G Gundam?? (was that correct?) Anyway, it really depends on the creative staying power for me I can accept a 12 episode series and as well as a long 500+ as long as it doesn't go waaay to repetitive :)
Twelve episodes is just too short to develop any type of plot line. They always seems to have some plot twist that goes against the way the story was heading. The whole series is a comedy and then the last two episodes turn serious for whatever reason. Also you'll see the main characters spaz out over something really trivial(come to think about it, this happens in a lot of manga/anime).
i thought they will continue after R2, i mean more season, it end at R2 then it too short for me, Im going to miss C.C. ....
12 episodes or so seem is too short for me, around 20-30 eps is better. But some anime have a sweet ending even it just got only 12 eps.
I'd say a series should take as many episodes it needs whilst maintaining a good pacing. I don't mind if they're short as long as they get tied up properly, or if they're long but not ridiculously draggy. I also wish C.C got more air time...but I also rather they not stick her in for the sake of sticking her in, she'll likely get more air time lately so I'm looking forward to that.
Well we got just under half of R2 to go yet, and I really hope the ending isn't cut short leaving you hanging as to what exactly happens. This is a series that I didn't think I'd get into but came to love quickly. Some anime is good under 20 eps when the story isn't as complex but it's solid. Code Geass with it's twists and turns, strategy and drama and comedy all wrapped into one needed at the least 2 seasons. I'd like to see how they make this work with only 2 though. CC does need more air time.
...It really depends for me, but generally I prefer 26 episodes or so. I tend to find 12-ep anime lacking in terms of character depth or significant plot development, and when they don't it ends all too soon. 52 episodes of a good series is awesome, but at that length it starts to become easy for the show to fall into fillers or get monotonous. I've watched series of 100+ episodes before, but generally my limit is around 70 or so.
I believe that 12 episode is abit too short... They should have atlest 24 episodes... If the series is super awesome, I don't mind having it more tha 24 episodes...
Personally I'm glad that it will end with R2. I really think they dropped the ball with R2. I've been comparing it to Gundam Seed Destiny in terms of let down to the first series/season. Right now from what I've seen and read about future episodes it just becomes worse and worse.
All good thing will come to an end. 2 long and it will get boring. Just hope that the ending does not have any cliff hanger. Well, we still have 4koma to keep us company after the anime ended (hopfully)
nani mai hunni? glad its done after 50. I think most stories can be wrapped up nicely in 50. I just hope they don't screw it up like most animes and rush the last 10 mins of the last episode to explain everything. Why, why, why do they always do that. Couldn't they spread it out over the last 5 or so episodes to pace themselves? Pisses me off to no end when they even use the ending credits to squeeze in the very last bit of obscurities and leave it "open ended" incase they wanna do more. UNFORGIVABLE SIN. i personally will miss the "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!?" moments when lulu pulls miracles out of his cloaked ass to save the day. I love how the show keeps me guessing so i never get bored, althought as of late, they seem to be slipping with the surprises and i've been nailing theories left and right >.>
12 Episodes is okay as long as they don't end it with a cliffhanger (which means it's actually a 24ep in disguise! *Waits for season2 of Gundam00*) 24 Episodes is standard for me to stay interested in the story. +-50 Episodes is okay, but it'll feel like it's dragging the story too much (this depends on the story) Anything more than that gets little attention from me, unless I really have a reason to take a look at it (the ol' Voltron -72 eps). Series have to end once in a while to prevent it from getting the "too long, it's boring" from casual viewers. Can't they just do it in separate seasons?
Well if a series is going to end it better not have any loose ends left untied and should have that satisfactory feeling after it ends...kinda like that completed feeling..
Yea 12 does seem short for most animes, the story gets rushed a bit it seems. Tale of memories had pretty good pacing for a 12 episode series though. I generally like series with around 24-25 episodes. But I dont mind the seemingly sunrise standard of 50 episodes.
I think death note ended nicely ^^;;
these types of stories has to end, it cant go on as a never-ending war. but i have no idea how they will end it and what kind of closure we can get.
Honestly, I want all my favorite series to end. Because if they keep dragging it out and making more episodes it'll end up ruining the series. Which is why I'm not typically a fan of mega series, but I gotta say. I do hope bleach has an awesome ending!
Oh man. I'm going to cry when R2 ends.
All good things come to an end (... only to have more seasons at a later date)
I reckon 25-50 is a good length for an anime series. I tend to watch anime between those length, or else I won't bother, unless its Naruto. I still follow the Naruto anime. From the beginning, I've always thought Code Geass was going to be like Deathnote, just the different powers. We're gonna see the end somehow, with the downfall of Lelouch(probably). Interesting scan btw.
I was expecting for the show to end with R2. I'll surely miss CC though. She's my favorite among the bunch and I feel she doesn't get too much airtime recently. :(
i think 24-26 eps is pretty good.. 12 is too short! @_@ my 2 fave anime now i heard is only gonna be 12/13 eps @_@ about R2.. i really think that it will end in this season in the 1st place :P
love code geass and the 2ed season is just way too awesome !!! ^^ i wonder if there is going to be a season 3 though if their is im gonna watch it ^^
