This is the Singapore Chicken Rice served at Lalaport in Toyosu. Tastes pretty good. I've never tried it in Singapore though - does it look anything like this?
NO, this look much better, but i don't know about the taste how much is it?
I cannot believe you killed a chicken to survive!! Lol.. aaahh.. just kidding.
Well it pretty much encompasses what a chicken rice in Singapore looks like: chicken, rice, a few slices of cucumber and also not forgetting some chilli. But i can't really tell what those garnishes are... Gets me hungry just by commenting. =x
Looks pretty the same, but I guess you gotta come to Singapore to have really awesome chicken rice. =P
yup that looks like typical singapore chicken rice oh right. ('~')
but the one in the picture is steamed chicken. we have roast chicken and lemon chicken as well.
Gordon, Lemon chicken sounds reeeeeeally good right now.
hey DRAGUN, if i have a teleportation device, i'll gladly zap the dish to you right now. ^^;
Danny, just come and have the original! Even though chicken rice is a commodity in Singapore, there are quite a number of stores which are top-notch for a reasonable price.
I'm quite sure it definitely looks much tastier in Singapore... ^^"
my vegetarian chicken rice looks something like this...lol..
Singaporeans all time favourite - Hainanese Chicken Rice Too bad my dad had closed down his chicken rice business, else i'll treat you to a plate of the chinese delicacy when you're in Singapore XD
I think they used Japanese rice for it. It looks all sticky! For looks, it's pretty much the same. Taste wise, can't really tell ^^; Oh! We don't add slices of tomatoes to the dish. You should try the fried pork rice if you do visit Singapore. Lovely dish!
damn. i miss them chicken rice. i prefer my chickens roasted though, not forgetting the roast pork and BBQ pork. heaven... (^o^) actually, i miss m'sian food :(
looks not bad
Hmm everything looks the same except as what the above have touched upon, the tomatoes. Other then that the cucumber are sliced a bit differently in Singapore. I've seen mostly the cucumbers cut vertically
You can also find Singaporean's Hainanese chicken rice in http://www.sintongkee.jp/ in Ebisu. Singaporean owned.
It looks like the same stuff in Malaysia too. Recently the local newspaper lauched a country wide searched for the Best Hainanese Chicken Rice. Even did a research on whose the first to make it popular, Malaysia or Singapore ?
nice to see so many singaporeans in this post. ^^;
It's the food that unite us!
Looks delicious but the rice looks a little soggy. Personally I would love to have the soya sauce for dipping the chicken instead of on the rice.
looks not bad, though over here the sauces are usually placed separately. Presentation wise, almost the same. Found this link, it shows how chicken rice is usually served over here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g294265-c3104/Singapore:Singapore:Hawker.Food.html First pic in the link is the usual hawker style, second one is more upmarket.
lol look how many Singaporeans here :D
I guess we just can't stop talking about food since it one of the most popular "national hobbies"
+1!
*drool drool*
Danny, i am a Singaporean myself studying in Canada. As you know, Chicken Rice is a Hainanese dish and coincidentally I am part Hainanese and cantonese. For many years, i have eaten CR, still Singapore is the best. If you really want to try a good CR, try Hainan Island, junkers/Bonkers street in KL and Singapore(Maxwell hawker Ctr). they are all good. The one in the pic looks decent, but it is still pics. If you pop by Singapore, TRY IT!!!!!!
I don't remember having slices of tomatos in Singapore's "Hainanese chicken rice" and usually the dark sauce, yellow stuff and chilli is on a smaller side dish. Chicken looks pretty authentic tho but yes you gotta go to Singapore to try the "real" thing sometime! ;P
That yellow stuff is pounded ginger.
oh.. singapore chicken rice, as known as "kueh bren" Singapore has some really nice chicken rice
it looks GOOD....*drools* man i want to go to singapore now
Nicely done and you asked for the thigh/drumstick area nice. Still in Singapore the best ones are surprisingly the lower profile ones at a cheaper price than the ones served in restaurants.
that looks really good!!
The rice in the pic looks too soggy *A*; Hainese rice are like "oil rice" right?(Sorry, if got the name wrong, but just directly translating it from chinese". If it is those then I love them xD
Yum that looks delecious! Too bad I am korean so I never tried it.
daang... i feel like chicken rice now... too bad there isn't any in the US >.
although I love Japanese Gohan, I do find it strange how differently cooked rice in Japan still has a Japanese taste to it. ^^ I tried eating Mexican style cooked rice and Chinese fried rice there. they were really good (probably even better than the real ones). but still, it didn't taste authentic. ^^;
Well. it does look around there, but those really chicken rice from those really nice stalls look different. Maybe i'll just go have some chicken rice and send a picture of my meal to danny.
Different places look differently. They even have chicken rice ball
looks like the local hainanese chicken rice in the south east asia (malaysia and singapore to be exact.) yummy, looking at the picture make me wanna dine at the nearest hainanese chicken rice stall. too bad, i already took my dinner.lol
abt the same except the pile of yellow subtances which look like vomitus
i don't like 'pak kai' brown chicken tastes much better imho =)
Yeah actually I prefer boneless chicken rice.. and roasted chicken instead of the white steamed one which tends to be fattier but juicer. I can't tell from the picture but is that Japanese rice? The rice grains used here in Singapore are mainly Thai rice. It's a longer grain compared to the shorter Japanese rice. Texture is slightly dryer (with the same amount of water added to cook it). The rice is cooked with chicken stock/broth, garlic bulbs, ginger juice and some oil. Some hawkers throw in Pandan leaves for added flavour. Usually if the rice don't taste good, the chicken won't too and oh ya and I think you generally get a smaller portion here in SG. :3
Quite embellished compared to the local one. Bet it costs more than your standard S$2 (approx. 160 yen?). They used Japanese rice too. Try something Singaporean-Malay too, Danny. Wonder if they have anything Malay in Japan...
It's almost the same. But in Singapore most of the stalls don't have that many types of garnishing. Bet having it in Japan would be a totally differerent taste than in S'pore.
oooh looks good man :D do come to Singapore to try our chicken rice :D But the serving portion is a little wrong. we would have less vegi and more chicken. and it that meso soup? if it is .. we don't drink meso soup with chicken rice. But do put more of the black sauce(the one thats on the rice) on the chicken and the rich
it looks normal to me but wads that yellowish thing? never seen it before though
