I saw this over at Kotaku It appears the Japanese Diet will review a petition that wants to ban eroge which displays underage girls in games. I am not sure how they would decide which is and which isn't. I'm not into eroge myself but are any of you worried that this petition might pass?
So shouta is still ok? Well whatever, I don't care either way :D.
They've been talking about it since way back in 2004. Nothing has ever changed. If they do that, then they might force a lot of big names and companies to go out of business. Bad for the economy.
It probably won't pass. The debate has been going on for quite sometime about underage 2D girls. Currently, they're still considered art, and have thus far been untouchable. I seriously doubt the bill will go far. Plus, even if it does get passed, the game companies will just change the age of the girl. "She's really 17, and has been held back in the 5th grade because she's not very smart..."
I don't know how they'll do that if age is unspecified, but if you ask me, I have no real interest in all that stuff. I like young women, sure, but not that young. I think it's really kinda gross, to be honest. >.<
It doesn't have much teeth but I think it raises the question of how far you can take things even if it is 2D.
I'm tired of seeing little girls in eroge, doing explicit stuff and all... I wouldn't mind really or would even be happy if it passed. But I do think of those who like that and shrug... Whatever floats their boats as long as they do not disrupt society.
Lol so you took that from "Wonderland Online" where shes your companion if you save her from pirates :P. As for banning Loli, well I don't know whats the big hype about it. She does look cute but young.
Not that I mind either way. But they better hope the really desperate ones don't go prowling the streets after being deprived of their only legal outlet...
I'd be surprised if this actually gets passed.
Loli lovers could just put a "Age 18" on the lolis, and everything is solved for them, since its fantasy, no one can tell them that it's wrong. And yeah, as above people say, it's already been talked about a lot, but nothing has been done to stop it, and I will be very surprised if they actually do something to stop it.
while we're at it why don't we ban all media depicting murder, war and hatred too? seems like theres a double standard when it comes to dealing and classing whats art and whats not.
I've never heard of underage girls in eroge get's an event ^^; most of them are just physically loli but not in age ^^;; *we are lyin to ourselves
There could hardly be a more stupid reason for a ban than just disliking something. I dislike overly violent horror movies and most western mainstream pop music. Therefore I just don't watch/listen to such media. As long as no one is hurt things shouldn't be banned. But then again, I'm all for banning politicians making uninformed or plain dumb decisions from breathing. This wouldn't only force them to think but it's also good for the climate because less exhalation means less CO2! Furthermore plain assumptions shouldn't be a reason for a ban either. The harm something might cause has to be scientifically proven before even considering a ban. Proud liberal countries shouldn't throw their citizen's rights out of the window just like that.
Hope that they do. but in politics in every nation there is allot of talk. It would have to be an act of congress ,plus the major facto will be inforce the laws and mandates.
Agreed since this is just a petition it would have to go through a lot of hurdles before it became legislation. I hardly doubt it would ever come to fruition.
