www.kotaku.com presents an update on developer Ubisoft's upcoming title, Far Cry 2.
Classified in the first-person shooter genre, the Far Cry series has had a lot to live up to in order to grab gaming fans' attention. However, that doesn't seem to be a problem. The latest installment takes place in Africa, and from the footage available, it looks stunning. But even more than that, I was impressed with the meshing of fantasy/reality. As can be seen in the game demo, Ubisoft has put a lot of effort into making a real honest-to-flesh game. (Particularly I enjoyed the animations for healing Jack, the main character. No more pick up a miracle med pack and your back to full health.)
In the developer's video they talk about the artistic research they conducted before designing the landscape, a trip to the savanna baby! Plus a huge 1 km x 1km game scale map. But no matter what they did, the game visuals look impressive. But don't take my word for it. Take a look at the youtube videos I've posted.
Release Date: TBA (GameStop approximate 10.7.2008) for PS3, 360, and PC.
