SSD or solid state drives are expensive right? well now you can have your very own SSD. just stick in two CF to this gadget and viola, cheap SSD. then again the CF drive bay costs about 189usd.^^; gadget found at geekstuff4u
still too expensive, ill wait till they work out the kinks on SSD's. price tag and lifespan are keeping me away atm.
SSD are good for certain purposes like when running on battery or is in a place where they can be exposed to shock or vibrations. However this device appears not to fit any of those. Also 2 Gb appears not to be much today if you intend to boot from this device. Speed is another concern as this will not be able to reach the high speeds of SSD we read about. I say that this device fits if you intend to build a computer designed to fit in a vehicle like a car but little else. It would appear that some people actually have such needs as you can buy power supplies that uses the car's battery/generator voltage as supply and can deal with the unstable voltage.
I'll probably consider getting SSD's once they're implemented as standards for laptops and other portable devices.
