These are fun to look at. Thanks for sharing Danny.

I must say that they really upped the brightness/contrast too high in the first image. The user would might as well add a lens flare for safe keeping.

The second image is choke full of proportional issues. Case in point: A Jay Leno's chin or the oddly lumped chest.

Though possible, I don't believe the second was photoshopped.
Look at the 'after' shot - the background is different.

The building has moved.

There were other subtle differences, but if it were 'before and after' it would be the exact same shot.

i've been thinking of the same thing , but if you are just willing to do it , it's still posible. Another theory i have in mind is - maybe that's a new feature from CS3 EXTENDED , since there are a lot of new stuff and changes in CS3 alone.

for the 2nd picture, i would say that the right girl was the original picture. Using some filter, such as distort, u bloat up her features starting from her face to her hands, fingers, stomach etc.. u add a new layer for the stomach as it will cover the background. Notice that u see additional building at the right picture? Well, logic tells us that if you have more, u can take out some. But, you cant add in stuffs that u do not have, unless that is matte painted, which is another stuff...
There are a thousand and one tricks to photoshop. U will just have to explore it and find your personal best way to psd an image..
For anti-pirates out there, u may try GIMP. It's something like PSD, but it's entirely free and open-source.

Tho i'm still sticking to CS2 since I really ain't into photo manipulation and enhancements.

well it depends on if you plan to use the new features in CS3, i can be still using version 4 and be happy with it since i mainly use it only for painting.

in the end its a matter if it has features you think will be of use to you or your situation.

but the nice thing is upgrading is cheaper than having to buy photoshop brand new.
