Yeah I think the whole appeal of 2D is the cute factor. At least she doesn't look like the 3D anime girl from a while ago.
The face got massacred, but the 3D body is really nice. They need to do a better job on the face.

I think the 3D rendering is impressive, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the 2D (or even the 3D in the video). Personally, I prefer the traditional 2D drawings over the 3D anyway =)
that's one very sweet CG of MIku-chan~ =3 imo, 3D CG characters like that one is still under the context of 2D girls for they can only exist inside a monitor or a TV screen and you can't physically touch them ^^

I'd like to hug (non-ero) the Miku in the video. Her moe factor is high there. Her 3D modellization is not bad at all, but the face the artist gave her is not really of my taste.

I've wondered how to designate 3D CG 2D girls (that's a mouthful), and it seems to be "CG girls" would be simplest.
the face of the cg ver. is not cute at all....the eyes( the lower one ) , is very big though . still prefer 2-D ish Miku

CG version in Danny's vid is better, but that was done using MikuMikuDance so yeah. The song is also very nice. New song to add to my list. For those who did not read, the song is Ikitekoso by Kiroro, the OP of Kabutomushi Ouji Mushiking - ~Mori no Tame no Densetsu~. No I have no idea what that series is.

That aside, the 3D image is absolutely well done(aside from aforementioned point) and it looks like a movie-quality work. But I think Miku's most important area is the moe-factor. The 3D one is beautiful, but not moe.

I like this version, actually. Heh, maybe it's because I'm warming up more to a character design style that's closer to real life (ex. Tetsuya Nomura's designs for Final Fantasy these days).
