That's really cool. I don't understand much japanese yet, so I couldn't understand the reporter. But, how do they keep track of who's bike belongs to who??

Japanese innovation is always a trip, coolness. Unfortunately, Canada has so much space we still build parking garages for cars, and have bikeracks for bikes. We will never see anythin like that here.

If I'm not mistaken, they already have one for cars... Saw the pics somehwhere on the net before but I don't think this would be practical for bikes.

That's very SF-esque... and I love it. If they could implement a larger system for cars then Singaporeans wouldn't have to worry about a lack of parking space when they come home late at night.
If they did it for cars then it will be great! I remember watching the I Robot movie where the car park is also like tat one! It stores ur car in a rotating storage area!
Wow that's amazing! Quite convienent too. Storage space is no longer a problem since it's all underground.

This reminds me of that awesome carpark thingy seen in I, Robot, the movie starring Will Smith a few years ago. Now if only they can apply this concept to cars...
necessity is really the mother of many invention. since they need space and can't make more, they have to maximize what they have.
It looks quite like the wave of the future, but I can't think this will be used in high congestion areas where many people arrive at the same time while going to or from work. At 23 seconds/bike, think of the queue!

It reminds me of Gatchaman where all the pilots get shot up into their own compartments or any other giant robot animes for that matter. Does Japan have valet parking for Bikes, as well?
