Forbidden Kingdom starring Jet Li and Jackie Chan - out this week in the US. Check the awesome high def trailer at Apple or low def below - looks so much better in high def. Me is must be seeing. I see many conversations on the internet's comparing Jet Li and Jackie Chan's martial arts skills - you is preferring which?
Jackie Chan... he makes it look entertaining at the same time
QFT
Agreed.
Agreed².
Ditto
so so true...
I should think their previous classics when they were much younger were better. Still I might give this a shot...when it comes out on DVD or something though. Movies are expensive.
If martial arts, Jet Li is better, But Jackie Chan is more fun to watch.
Bruce Lee forever! But yeah, I prefer Jackie Chan due to his sick DIY stunt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cI1AwZN4ZYg
As a Jackie Chan fan I'm certainly watching this movie... Jet Li is also a great martial artist, but the plot seems like... well, gotta watch it first.
in terms of martial arts, Jet Li wins in that category but Jackie Chan's own kind of martial arts is much more enjoyable and entertaining ^^
prefer Stephen Chow than Jackie-Chan-san but his films are entertaining :) must admit
Jet Li was the Chinese Wushu gold medal champion from 1974-1979. If you can kick 1.2 billion people's asses, I'm pretty sure you are the best in the world.
um.. what happened to the rest (5/6th) of the world?
this movie is on my must-watch list as well. ^^ with regard to your question, I prefer Jackie Chan. his movies are more fun to watch. plus I have an impression that his stunts are much harder to do than Jet Li's
do check out the babes Liu YiFei (刘亦菲) and Li Bing Bing (李冰冰). ^^
Liu YiFei is yummy x10 As for which martial artist I like more, I respect both for different reasons. I just hope the white kid doesn't mess up the movies mojo.
hahaha....so true
>white kid...i stopped reading right there
I so agree. I watched it just recently. White kid gets owned in the beginning and owned in the end.
china is having a huge influx on babes on the chinese movies...but alot of them a scarily tall - well i m kinda short
Li Bing Bing plays the white haired demoness assassin right? if so, i need to get more pics of her
Looks nice, but movies like this have a high rik at becoming corny. Also, I guess Jet's 'final' martial arts movie (Fearless) wasn't so final after all, huh XD
* it's risk, not rik...
yeah, i'd heard that jet li retired. he must have gotten ALOT of money to do this movie.
Jet Li's final "epic" martial arts film was "Fearless." The epic films, and actual genre of Chinese cinema (e.g. Hero, Fearless, etc.), are sweeping, moral tales. However, he's said that he would continue to make martial arts action films.
"an actual"...not "and actual"
Jackie Chan me prefers much... But no time to watch the movie...
If only Bruce Lee were still alive... It would be a killer trio.
indeed
My thoughts after watching the trailer: people in ancient China sure can speak english....
even cavemen speaks english in 10,000BC.
My friend was telling me that he found out that Jet Li and Jackie Chan actually got into a real fight between a take in the movie, apparently they got upset with each other somehow. But I also want to see this too, far as I'm concerned, I like Jackie more.
Wow, something that can make two fully-matured beings fight against one another should be... significant, shouldn't it? ^^
Yeah, I can't picture Jackie Chan as aggressive, and this for any reason.
Maybe they fought to see who can ask Liu Yifei out for dinner! XD
Jet Li is much better in terms of technical skill. However, Jackie has a way of fighting that makes it look like he really isn't. Also, I think Jackie is the all around better actor when comparing the two.
Well I will go for Jet Lee, he is uber fast :D
For some reasons I like Jackie more than Jet Li. Probably because his films were broadcasted more often back then when I was still watching TV daily as a child.
Just saw the TV commercial couple days ago. Looks pretty cool to me. =D
Jackie chan's funny but I think jet li's cuter LOL
you have a good point there, but if i were to date one of the two, it'd be jackie chan. mind you, he's nearly 20 years older than i am.
This type of collaboration should of happened long time ago. Jackie is getting too old for action movies IMO but he still makes it look good on this movie. I prefer both of the actors but I hope Jet Li can do comedy-action movie like Jackie Chan one day. I'm going to watch this movie first thing when it opens ^_^
Ahhh ! Must see !! Jackie Chan's fan since I'm little. ^^
Jackie Chan - His way of acting was always my fav. He has this talent, to place some amusement, into the movie (even if it's serious)
There is only one way to settle the Chan-Lee debate. MORTAL COMBAT!
Don't you wonder what cool looking fatalities they could perform?
One canonly dream, though one of Chans could involve an umbrella.
Jackie Chan....is aging....;_;
Jet Li and Jackie Chan in the same movie! Go see must I... I find it hard to compare both of them. Jet Li and Jackie Chan are both good. Li is is almost always technically proficient in his style. Jackie is also, but more entertaining and free in his style. Since Bruce Lee has had such an impact on martial arts I often feel I see aspect of his way of thinking in both men.
Jackie Chan's kung fu is just for show. I would choose Bruce Lee ftw anyday.
I guess that if Jackie were to fight at 100% (meaning not for comedy purposes), I'm sure many teeth would have taken a one-trip flight and blood flowing like a river... At least if it was about movies depicting explicit violence. In fact he did that once and regretted this choice forever.
That sounds more like a brawl than Martial Arts. Either way he is getting pretty old and I doubt he could put up much of a fight against someone who really knows how to fight. Its not like I was saying that I could beat up Jackie Chan, but I bet my grandma could.
that's some grandma you got there.
It depends, Jackie chan is more comedy and Jet Li is more serious action. Their both equally good!!!
I saw the premiere of this movie a few days back; it was a good movie. Although I swear they ripped a few scenes from other movies... the fact that it showed the logos of the wEINSTEIN company and RELATIVITY media at the beginning made me rofl though.
Oh yeah, forgot to say, the "jade warlord" or whatever his name is totally pulls a Gates of Babylon a la Gilgamesh from FSN.
i got to say jackie chan.. i love all his movies, i am looking forward to the movie comming oot looks good from watching the trailer.
Jackie Chan is a better actor / entertainer overall especially his DIY stunts. On the other hand, Jet Li is a better martial artist. In term of their movies, I prefer Jackie's chan movies over Jet Li's except those old chinese kung-fu movies like once upon a time in china 1, 2 and 3 or other similar. Definitely going to watch it this weekend.
That emperor... is he actually Gil from FS/N? 0_O Thanks for the trailers danny, I'll prolly watch this~ ;)
I like both Jackie Chan and Jet Li's films, however, they are both quite different in style, and thus hard to compare. Although Jackie Chans skills are amazing, i feel, as a character, he is more suited to the slightly more light hearted role, he always comes accrosss as the "i don't want to have to fight you" type. Whereas in comparison, Jet Li, is very much the "get out the way or ill make you move" type, and for that reason, he works better under serious titles, like Unleashed, War etc. However, i think for me they are both very close, i love the comedy aspects of Jackie Chan's films, aswel as the action and amazing stunts that he performs himself. Yet i love the sheer display of just outright kickass-ness (i know thats not a word xP) that Jet Li gives out. I think this will be a very interesting one to see, two very different styles coming to the same film.
Yes, as they are true to themselves even in this movie, it's double the fun. And this white guy (martial-artist newbie archetype) is caught in the crossfire... I just hope he does not spoil the mood with too much stereotyped stupidity.
I soooo want to watch this ;p I love watching both of them, Jackie Chan & Jet Li. I like their look in this movie. But I also like the others like Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung,...
Jackie Chan is an icon, if you don't know who Jackie Chan is, you must be living under a rock for the last 50 years. As for Jet Li, i like his movies and stunts, but he can't act. Jackie Chan wins.
In a pure martial arts smack-down, Jet Li should have an advantage, even though both are rather closely matched. But I'm still going for Jackie Chan; I mean, not everyone can kick ass and make the audience laugh their guts out at the same time.
my feeling after watching the trailer was..........action and scen seems promising but those ancient China man speaking English is kinda of weird! Maybe later its in the Cinema here it would come with Mandarin version.....
Jet Li: Serious Martial Skillz Jackie Chan: Fun entertaining Martial Skillz Nuff' said.
One is an appl and one is an orange. I can't really say who is a better fighter. I prefer Jet Li though.
With Jackie Chan, the movie will be more entertaining.. Though I don't understand how they can communicate to the english-speaking guy in english.. -_-??
This is joining the pile of movies I have to watch but end up never watching... :/ Anyways, I like both styles. Can't quite say which I like most, because it's like comparing action movies to comedy... sometimes I like one of them more, sometimes I like the other. Depends on the mood.
Like many above I think it is impossible to compare the two because I think they are both aiming for different goals and outcomes as far as their performance goes. That said, I prefer Jackie Chan because I enjoy the authenticity of his stunts...And, he's got a real unique way of looking at fight sequences. With the whole using all the objects in the room etc...
A real must see. An american film set in eastern realms of fantasy with two of best known actors of arts of defence
jackie chan is my all time fav when it comes to martial arts movies... jet li's style is more aggressive which is nice but it sometimes turns the movie in a very brutal direction...
This movie has been on my to watch list when I knew about Liu Yifei starring with both Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the same movie since mid of last year. I too hope that kid doesn't ruin it. As for jackie chan and jet li...I can't really compare the two coz they're so different in both style and execution. I like jet li's wushu the same as with jackie's stunts, drunken style and etc. ^^
Definitely on my watch list. Jackie Chan and Jet Li combination is deadly. That orphan girl and the bounty hounter looks hawt. o.O 1080p trailer is zomg nice. :D
I like Jackie Chan better, I dont care much for Jet Li...he maybe good at martial arts but bleh, in movies always with the special effects.
I think that both are good. More importantly, when I saw the trailer for the first time, I was yeah finally Jackie chan and Jet li in the same movie. Then, i saw the white kid. I was like WTF but if you think about it. The white kid needs to be there for the obvious reason, jackie and jet can't both be the main actor even though the kid is not even in the poster they put in the theaters for the movie.
The first time I heard about the movie, I thought: "Hey Jakie Chan and Jet Lee in the same movie! Yeah! Awesome!" And then I watched the trailer. After I have seen the white boy, I got a really really hard WTF feeling, so I look for the director of the movie. Sadly its neither Jackie nor Jet Lee, its even not a chinese. The director is the guy who made films like stuardt little and stuardt little 2 and the script is a modification from the novel "Journey to the West" by John Fusco (Who the F*** is that?). Anyway the trailer looks like a bad copy of the Chinese "Art movies" like Tiger and Dragon or Wuji. These films are made by arrogant suckers who see themselves as great artists and the only sence on the movies is to win an Oskar, but they haven´t succeed yet (well I prefere the low budget series in China anyway, like "武林外传"). Since the originals are BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, the BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD copy will be even worse. I really wonder why Jacky Chan and Jet Lee decided to join this project. But I think I still will watch the movie because of Jackie Chan and Jet Lee.
Jackie Chan and Jet Li vs. Gilgamesh?! WINNAR!
cool man! 2 pro kung fu actors act together, this must be worth to watch.
Jackie Chan's the best. I'm gonna see it the second it comes out here.
i've read their interviews months back before the film release and they're all a bit upset because it is made by a foreign film company not a local Hong Kong film outfit which they could do better with the action scenes.I'd say the best collaboration of Chinese actors i'd ever seen were Andy Lau and Tony Leung in 'Infernal Affairs'.
