Fuji-Q highland has some of the fastest, tallest and longest roller coasters in the world. You may want to pay a vist when you are in Japan - they also have the Gundam Crisis attraction where you can see a 1/1 scale Gundam. Check with the hotel that you are staying with as they usually have access info at the concierge. I personally cant take roller coasters - usually leave me dizzy. BTW, The Japanese call these "Jet Coasters." Great CM for Fuji-Q below.Girl rides on a Fuji-Q coaster.
LOL thats some good stuff. This will definitely be on my "places to go" list whilst in Japan. Although...I must say, no rollercoaster on the face of this earth can compare to the dragster at Cedar Point. Now thats one hell of a ride. Millennium force is good too.
It seems funny :D
That looks like fun! I love roller coasters, especially from Six Flags! Oh man I want to go, since you mentioned the giant gundam display!
I love rollercoasters!!! :P My husband can't take rides like this -- motion sickness ^^; I haven't been on one for a long time now O_o; the 2nd video is funny LOL the camera guy was possibly trying hard not to make any noise LOL I had a snicker when he asked her "do desuka" in the middle of a crazy turn and she just kept screaming LOL~
looks fun...too bad i cant go to roller coaster due to some height requirement, and i am a bit scared of roller coaster due to some incident
o that reminds me of the time i was in japan and they had on the new about a roller coaster accident where some girl got her head smashed off because one of the wheels failed. it was a bit "omg..." only one died others were just injured or traumatized.
I have ridden Dodonpa and Fujiyama.. I actually have a photo with me doing the peace sign right before the camera... it's hard for Fujiyama, not so hard for Dodonpa... but dodonpa is not that impressive, but it is fast...
uhhghh, just thinking of those makes me ill. i can't take riding anything like that. i'll stick with the kiddie rides, thank you.
no worries, I was scared out of my wits the first time... And to think, that my first roller coaster would be Fujiyama, I thought all other roller coasters afterwards were kiddy rides...
there will never be a first time for me. i think i'd do best just sitting and watching.
I was like you some years ago (maybe the fear of speed or sudden adrenaline rush or even the fright of accidents), then I went "Hiyaaaah, here goes nothing!!" and loved the sensation. I'm generally hyper-cautious and careful in minimizing every risk in all of what I do; but since those attractions are safe, I have no worries... And if by the worst Death comes to take me at that time, well, there is no other way, it would just be a tad premature. ^^;
If persuading don't work, try reverse psychology~ @Glasseyelashes Don't worry, there's nothing to worry when riding a rollercoaster... Nothing like an accident in Final Destination 3 is gonna happen, don't worry... So, gonna try it now?
Guess you're gonna scare her even more this way. ^^;
I'd sworn off riding rollercoasters ever since I watched Final Destination 3. Especially those that have loops; I mean, up and down are one thing, but going upside down... XD
Nice! I'd like to ride those someday... love 'em. Also, LOL@ ad
that looks like it's a lot fun ^____^
I didn't want to watch the first video because of the Ganguro girl... Just kidding. Will give it a try later. As for the second one, the guy is a bit sadistic... He talks a lot to the young lady so she is distracted and gets even more scared during the ride. ^^; Well, this reminds me of the last time I went to Disneyland Paris (went twice in total) with my cousin. As soon as we entered the park, we went for the most "energetic" attractions and this in chain: Space Mountain, Indiana Jones backwards, Big Thunder Mountain, Star Tours, etc. and we suffered even more because we didn't eat till we ended extremely hungry. So fun!!
On my list for things to someday check out. I love roller coasters. <3
I don't really like roller coasters that much, but sometimes it's OK. I was on the Dragon Mountain roller coaster, which is the largest roller coaster in the world, and used to be the tallest though.
Ummm, Fuji-Q's logo makes me think of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_(restaurant_chain) (and the burgers they make are dang good)
wannnnt!!! *grabby hands*
yeah, it's one of the things I miss a lot since coming here.
Ganguro gal looks scary -_-"
here i was hoping that roller coaster with the ganguro freaks in it had a good 25% of its tracks missing. i wonder what color bloodstains theyll leave when an "accident" happens? rainbow colored perhaps?
the feeling before your first drop is the best...
On the second video the only scary thing is the camera he's bringing....he mght drop it...
Hey Danny, if one is in Tokyo, how would you recommend one get to this "Fuji-Q Highland"? (I tried checking the map on their page, but couldn't find directions... probablt doesn't help that I can't read kaji)
*kanji Yes, it would be pretty cool to read fire too, but I'm having enough trouble with Japanese. XD
Ooooooo. This is on my places to go when I visit Japan now. I'm a roller coaster addict; love the adrenaline rush it gives you.
Scary!!!!!!! I would never go on that rollarcoaster... So high up...afriad of heights
Rollercoasters are okay but I can't ride on those viking-like rides where they go back and forth or does 360 degree flip spin @_@
LOL I don't know what to be afraid of, the height and speed of the roller coaster... OR the ganguro girl and the macho dudes in the video...
That looks ace! Ive always wanted to go there. Maybe next time... Where abouts is it? Is it easy to get to from central Tokyo? I only went to Alton Towers a month or so ago. Went on the meanest coasters there, and i wants MOAR!
On my "to go" list.
Nice, but I'm not a real coaster fan either. Once or twice is nice, but I don't have the stomach for a whole park full of 'em....
Thanks for the tip, I'm def going there. I love jet coasters.
I've been. Awesome stuff. When you get on the Dodonpa, you're in this dark tunnel lit by flashing rows of lights. I couldn't resist screaming "ガンダム、行きます!” (Gundam, Launching now!) before I got kicked in the guts by however many G's it is you experience when you're accelerated to 100km/h in 1 second. (Funny that they also have Gundam the Ride there.) I also recommend the Eejanaika to thrill seekers. When I went last year, it was the world record holder for largest number of inversions. You seriously cannot tell which direction you are going in at any given point in time.
ah fujiku high land...i'll never forget ohh the eejanaika... the stupid backwards climb and THE FREAKING FALSE DROP guh.....my first official rollercoaster ride too. Why on earth did my first have to be the 'worlds most number of inversions' one? i remember i couldn't stand properly after getting off that thing. Several attendants had to help me ^^" awesome fun nonetheless
I'll pass... those coaster thingies give me the creeps... Just picture yourself slowly climbing that $h1t while thinking "when is it gonna stop" or "I could be doing something else"... I mean, why put you through that? Anyway, a lot of people likes that things, so have fun.
I love rollercoasters but didn't ride one for years. Theres a amusement park about 45mins (by car) away from me which has quite a nice one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-KtTAy5SvpU I didn't get the commercial btw, but I'd ride it anyway...
Rollercosters are evil @_@ I don't like to ride those. I always get a feeling that I will fall out or the cart will suddenly start flying into the air from the track.
I love roller coasters. I'll definitely go there when I go to Japan.
Not a fan of 'coasters, but getting a rush once in a while is okay. I just wished that I haven't watched Final Destination 3 yet. Now I shy away from all those with loops T_T
Yup!! I love rollercoasters~ Will definitely go to FujiQ when I go to Japan, it's been on my target list to ride that coaster from a long time ago.... XDD Ah... Dreams.... >_<
wow after a steep climb up its a 90 degree fall... now thats what i call a roller coaster... looks so much fun, its on the must go to list...
sign me up for a ride.
