Looks mobile carrier Docomo want to get ahead of their competition by introducing mobile phones which can not only watch TV, listen to MP3, browse the internet and vibrate - but also produce smells.
I'm guessing that there will be sites using this technology to produce pantsu smells in the not too distant future. Hmmm, visuals, vibrating, noise AND smells?
Any takers?

I imagine refill packs for smells will be as inconvenient as ink cartridges in the near future. I'm sure some aspiring hacker will one day make a manure virus and set it loose upon the smell phone clique. I called it first!

really...i wont be surprised if its some sort of cartridge like container thats being put into cellphones. It just sounds like some sort of cheap investment to lure in more clients :)

Do you have to buy some kind of mini-item that actually contains the odors, put it in the phone and refill it once it's empty?
If it's the case, this phone is completely purposeless. And I'd pass on that... Artificial smells are just some sort of poison when you think of it (and the human body is relatively weak as well).

Maybe if it has a faint perfume scent it would be cute. ^.^ But can't imagine for what I would want a phone that produces smells. ^_^; And also, what happens if the phone continues producing smell while we talk on the phone for the long time? *talks on the phone for a long time*gets smell intoxication* XP

I remember something like this to the gamecube, were you would put a pill of some sort and it would produce the smell of grass, burned rubber and asphalt. Don't know if it got released, but smells in these kinda things are just a waste of time and energy.

I remember they once tried to make this kind of tech for PC's. You'd buy chemical packets for the scents, much like refillable car air fresheners. I wonder how that went.

The stuff you'd have to put into the phone just to make these smells would probably end up being such a waste of time (and money), that something like this would soon go out of fashion. I mean, sure, it'd be nice and dandy to have the smell of say, flowers, every time you're talking on the phone... but aside from that, it really doesn't serve a big purpose. That's one bell/whistle that phones definitely don't need!
