Ikea furniture seems to be everywhere - our office is full of it. Well in Japan they are on the trains too and not just poster ads. Hector has more pics of a train fitted out with Ikea furniture - perfect for sleeping.

Oh my! Such a stylish train! =O But after a while, won't it get dirty and such? And it won't be so nice to sit on it o_o I mean, yeah, I know train seats before were dirty but now we can see it with those seats >_>
GOD! In Singapore we have to be content with hard glass-fibre chairs! Well, looking at the mindset of the majority of our citizens, it's probably more cost-efficient...
Thats a train i would like to live in ^_^
All they need now is a shower and kitchen in the other train cars... :p
In Singapore, we have modified bus. My friend once showed me some photos he took of the modified interior. I haven't been on one though. And its seems to be a pretty rare occurance.
Ikea is great, nice modern furniture with decent price. all my furniture in my room are from Ikea
Wow looking cozy! Would love to live in there... xD
I'm pretty sure this is just a one-off case. Maybe we can see more sleeping people on these trains as it will be way more comfortable lol.
IKEA is pretty cool good prices and whatnot. But they're furniture doesn't last long. I get a few years out of them, then have to buy some new stuff.
i don't kinda believe it. this is a part of ikea's advertisements on the train. ('~')
Yeah, one more reason for people to make faces equivalent of those of celebrities and top models when they are getting in the arms of Morpheus (the god, not the Matrix character)... And of course to have their unforgettable illustration of their relaxing moment being beautifully sorted as image collections in more or less popular otaku blogs. ^^ (and of course no need for prior written consent, as they would gladly imply acceptance, and this in every case)
wow! that's one comfortable train lolz so that's how Ikea advertise/markets their products...very effective =3
Hmm... I think I've seen this in a TV ad before where a crew goes in to modify different public surroundings with Ikea furniture. They didn't do it here for real, but looks like Japan was a safe enough place to try.
wow! Nice seat you guys have there in Japan XD What happen to the site today? Is it just me? The layout is so messed up =(
*steals one for our couchless home* LOL
Kakkoii! I wonder when such luxsury will reach my country ;D
Dang...that better than my couch at home....
Wow, train with Ikea furniture, that's rad. Wonder which train line is that one.
I should experience it myself when I go to Japan two months later. Will it still be there?
I`m jealous, hope to have this here...
I would love to see this happen to the subway carts in NYC. I don't understand why public transportation has to be so damn uncomfortable.
Awesome, those trains looks so comfortable.
Very nice... reminds me of that kid's train. Everyday there's something here to make me want more and more to live in Japan...
I think some time ago there were some tram stops with IKEA furniture here.
Wow, I prefer those at my house than in the trains.. Envy those people who ride on that particular train..
We seriously need to have an ikea or home depot store around these parts. Furniture selection is so limited here. >_> *test >_< *
yeah the furniture looks really comfortable, but i can't say the same about the colours
thats cool and all but do they have to pick such noisy designs on the seats. they hurt my eyes. i guess i like the minimalist approach.
Go on a train in style!!! LOL!!!
Wouldn't this just increase the "Sleep-In-Public" trend again :p
First of all when I get in the train I'll go hesitate as I go in and then start looking for a seat that compliments my outfit...How troublesome but this is just the way it is... heh
The only way you will embarrass yourself is when you are obviously too wide for the seat. MTA train's straight benches makes people feel undisturbed by their size. I myself, however, have a bad time sitting next to and insulted by people fatter than I am.
Haha. There go your tax dollars, yeah? Looks like they're putting sensation before style.
ZOMG! Why trains in Japan have such comfy looking seats?! Why?! WHY?!
That train looks like a home.
now that's creative advertising
I wish trains in Melbourne were like that! ToT
now thats what i call a comfy ride...
Wow that's an awsome train lol Wonder if I'll get to ride it while im in Tokyo this this summer.
You know, Ikea furniture is more of an aesthetic thing rather than long lasting. I've seen (and bought) some of the furniture, and it isn't the greatest of quality. Ikea's really more of a store that's aimed at those looking to pay less for alright quality. Even so, I'm shocked that they'd put that on a train. I mean, if Ikea where to do the same here in the Toronto Subway for example, the furniture would be trashed in no time. But then again, I'm thinkin' that Japan is generally a much more self-respecting place, so vandalism wouldn't be that big of a problem.
