You may know of a figure/gundam store called TJ Gross Net - was voted by Yahoo Japan as the best online store in 2007. Looks like they went bankrupt and ran off with the monies from pre-orders. GigaZine goes to the TJ Gross offices/warehouse to see whats going on as TJ are were not responding to mails or phone calls. GigaZine arrive to find the place deserted and what looked like seizure of possessions stickers by a bank. Pics of the TJ warehouse with figures and gundams viewable from the outside at GigaZine. If you lived in the area and knew that there was nobody around and that the security devices had all been disabled, would you go in and raid the place for figures and gundams?
Only If I had preordered something from them and didn't get my money/product. Otherwise: not sure, probably not.
Yup same here,I just want to get what i deserved or equivalent compensation !
If i had preorderd a lot: first intention "I want my money back - and when I don´t get it i want at least other stuff", would take my jacket, slowly walk to the door, wait, say "Naah, i´m getting as nasty as those guys who stole my money... and i don´t wanna go to jail... so better apply to a lawyer" If i had not preorderd: Whitout a doubt NO it wouldn´t be right at all!
@Tempest, I agree. I dont like the idea of taking something I didnt earn/buy. Its even more pathetic when someone takes something they can afford. Someone pays for it people, weither you believe it or not.
No way! I love figures but stealing is just wrong. ^^ It's a pity when good stores have to close down.
People like those exist everywhere, shame on them. Raiding them sounds nice.
most definitely raid them. its like a tomb full of treasure, why not?
Expect deadly traps as well. ^^
Figures have started to have "traps", too? Oh the humanity.. >_<
OMG ABANDONED FIGURES!! SOMEONE SAVE THEM!! I dunno if I'd raid... if no one was coming back I spose it wouldn't matter.
I feel distressed by the Lilo and Stitch pillows....:sob:...all grubby and alone...
Going to jail for figures and gunpla? Nah, the risk is too high, when compared to the potential benefits. So no, thank you.
Poor orphaned figures without a parent company/owner to take care of them. I'm willing to adopt some of them, hehe.
i'm forming an expedition team now. someone get me some directions to the warehouse, google earth isn't working for me.
I'm joining the team.. My google earth is orking just fine but I need coords.. Maybe I try calling Solid Snake to get the job done..
Well I know qingy has a fast getaway phonebooth. I suppose that's a start.
weapons and equipment specialist reporting in, sir!!!
One scientist reporting in, sir!
i have prepared all the bagas and bento. lets go. ('~')
I can always discuss and plan strategies/tactics and brainstorm with you all, but if you ever get caught, consider me to never have existed.
In japan? No. That would be going down their level. Here in Brazil? Shure. Why? Because I just know justice will never be done. So if I preordered some stuff, I'd make shure my share would be guaranteed. Also, justice is so freaking slow in Brazil that, if by some miracle the owners were arrested, chances are I would never see the color of my money back again. The crime would probably prescribe before something was done.
absolutely. i'd take that vending machine and those sneakers, too.
in fact; i'd get everyone in black boiler suits and masks and make a faux-documentary on it, calling ourselves the FIGURE LIBERATION FRONT. saving those gundams and figures and putting them into the loving hands of otas everywhere.
Looks like a mix of gnoming and Robin Hood-inspired practices. ^^
That's pretty cool. Very surreal. And no, I wouldn't since the bank technically owns all those figures.
That's a tough one. I don't think i would. I don't want to get arrested for theft.
Naw I wouldnt steal, id feel guilty about it. In fact I bet one of the gundam model's heart would start beating and drive me crazy and id end up turning myself in. Sux to whoever pre ordered stuff.
borrowing and not returning is not a crime since the lender went missing
metamorphs into solid snake. K lets infiltrate. Lol...bah i personally dont have the heart to steal
If you just turned into Snake, don't forget your cardboard box.
i'm sure card box will be useful since that place filled with boxes too :P
lol!
took the money and ran? that's totally uncool. I remember one time I placed a reservation for a hi-end gaming rig at a local shop (they seemed very reputable). Then a couple of weeks later, they didn't answer the phone or anything. When i went back to the shop, the place was emptied out. Luckily, I did not leave a deposit or anything.
Not caring much about being on the high moral ground here but if I was there, the first thing I do is....... 1.Get a crowbar. 2.Use my imagination (lex luthor voice) 3.Enjoy the rest of my life!
i must admit its tempting... but then again if we started raiding...we will never be as civil minded as how this article show us http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/1625/Lost+in+Tokyo.html
Crazy. Their website is still up too, I wonder how much money they're making from unsuspecting people who don't know they're no longer in business. Smells like a fly-by-night operation!
How did they become bankrupt?
Are you holding the door, and playing lookout for me Danny? Then definitely... maybe.
IF I was in the area... and I know that its possible to get away from it. First I will locate the security room and check if anything is still working. If it is, I'll dispose anything that has me in it. Then I will find ways to carry the goods I want which is pretty much ...none. Yeah, I'd take a Gundam/Figure and probably look about for lying around cash >.> Then again, very risky and I don't want to clean my ass ready to be sitting in jail. I can only dream.
No I'm not one to steal. The merchandise should be sold and people get their money back.
Wonder if I could get that model of the Yamato, the real one and the space battle ship, those are sweet!
A warehouse full of trap waiting for theives...so no
It's tempting but its a business that were supposed to send "certain goods" to people and they just packed up and left...sigh. I pity all the people they were supposed to supply. I understand how you feel...I see it every day now
reminds me of the urban attic fiasco in sg(note: urban attic was a figurine dealer in sg)...where this fella allegedly cheated his customers of their money and was charged for forgery.he is now serving jail time from what i heard so far.
oh really. i knew that guy. he had a shop in fundan IT mall. shop was closed last year and was wondering what happened to him. didn't like him much, his figures are highly overpriced and sells bootlegs as well. gg to him.
Only if I'd ordered something from them; I'd clean the warehouse and then thrash it with the Hammer of Dawn. Justice be done!!!
never do any net shopping i'm more unconvinced now.... after seeing how this incident can happen.... i do my ota shopping in konata style: browse every store as many as u can i think i'll keep that attitude
I would probably raid them, if I had pre-ordered something. I rather pay for my things, don't like stealing. ^^;
steak out the place for a few days 1st then make my move... hehehe sweet stuff and i don't have to pay for them... MWAHAHAHA!!!!
Raid and considering I have spend quite a lot of efforts going to Japan for this raid (plane ticket, accommodation, etc), I'm going to get as much as I can. ^^
If it ain't a crime then I would have raided the place clean in a second. ^^ hahah
Ohhhh.. Are they (police/people who confiscated the goodies) going to auction off the rest of the goods?!?!?!??
I wouldn't raid the place but I think what they did is shameful :/
that sux big time =( I would be really mad if they took my preorder money away.
what happened to TJ Gross? first they are raking in money then suddenly they are filing for bankruptcy? O.o i know i'll file bankruptcy on figures lolz
