Anime Blog Awards say... "The Anime Blog Awards was conceptualised on March 19, 2008 with the intention of recognising and celebrating the top blogs in the anime blogosphere, and seeks to achieve the following goals: 1. To serve as exposure for new bloggers. 2. To objectively measure a blog’s achievements by means of peer review. 3. To encourage readers to move out of their comfort zone by discovering new blogs." Click about on the categories on the right to start discovering new blogs. As for yourself, how many blogs/sites do you have in your daily reading list - any recommendations for your fellow otaku? Do you mainly read via the html browser or RSS feed? Larger resolution of Shana wallpaper at Moe Imouto. Kazumi-chans top is undone...
i really like the 3rd goal, especially exchanges in tastes and different concepts for just about anything on topic. As for me I also read articles on gaijinsmash.net
Gaijinsmash is pure 24k gold! Haven't updated on that one in ages by the way. Az's blog is one of the few things that genuinely make me laugh in life. ^^
Same here :p. I always look forward to his updates. I also read tokyotimes.org and the Peter's blog on j-list.com.
I am also a big fan of GaijinSmash! :-)
Yeah, it's a fun blog. Just wish Az would update a little more.
did u make it any where danny?
I definitely will look forward for the results! NOW it is an interesting contest... Better than any beauty pageant one. ^^ Any references? Nah, I don't want to create biases. ^^
dannychoo is the best
Hell yeah!
i second that.
i thirded that.. ^^
4th that...
5th
6th
7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th
no doubt, hands down dannychoo dot com for the win.
dannychoo for "Most Influential Award". ^^;
dannychoo rulez !!! ^_^
Always HTML, my RSS feeds are usually a mess, and devoted to torrents like Baka-Updates. 'Sides, I like lookin at the purty pictures whilst browsing, without having to click on individual news items.
I read all my blogs via HTML, although I use RSS for finding out when they are updated. I tend to read Random Curiosity for anime stuff, since his shows tend to match mine quite closely, and Heisei Democracy for figure news. Dannychoo I tend to view for entertainment in general rather than for a specific purpose. There are also the odd articles from the animeblogger community which I read but no single blog. The figure making community is pretty small so I check out as many blogs as I can if and when I discover them.
The only blog I read is dannychoo.com(:P), and from there I go to other blogs via links. Sometimes I find an anime blog while surfing the net, enter the site, and just read through whatever interests me.
the ones that i read are: riuva furu anime panikku kirainet pepinismo danny choo and you should check out my blog otakudan.blogspot.com
bro i have already commented on your new desk and shelf. ^^;
There are quite a lot of blogs I visit once in a while, but only three of them on a daily basis: Derailed by Darry, Heisei Democracy and (of course) this one.
DANNYCHOO.COM FTW!~
I still think Danny's the best. After that of course is my site =P I kinda read alot of Japanese blogs nowadays. There are so many anime/managa/figure blog out there that its tough to make a choice. I see whatever that catches my attention on aggregators like otaku.fm
Moetron and Lolitron !@#$%^&^%$#@$%^&*&^YW&H#IJOTRHJ#ID
My sixth sense tells me that there will be a lot of shameless plugs in this mini-post. ^^;
well, i don't know many blogs, but hey.. if i have to choose, dannychoo is the one for "Most Influential Blog"...
i think the idea behind the awards is great. hopefully the otaku-sphere will be expanded as fellow bloggers get introduced to other blogs around the world. for me i have already voted and i hope danny wins the most influential award. for me, i usually visit and comment on blogs by fellow singaporean otaku/anime bloggers and a few from malaysia & elsewhere. i also visit otaku.fm everyday to find interesting topics by fellow bloggers. a big thank to danny & otaku.fm for helping us get noticed. ^^;
Thanks for posting this Danny. Always good to see some sort of unity in the Anime/Otaku community.
Dannychoo.com FTW!!!!
You will get my vote for sure...
i er... have a shameless request... if u all find that "hey gordon's blog doesn't suck that bad as i thought" i will be delighted if anyone can nominate me for rookie of the year. of course i don't expect to win or anything. just a mention of me blog will sent me on cloud nine. this is totally on your own free will and no black notebook will be involved. *runs away*
Gordon-chan kawaii!
ほんとに? danny o-nii-sama. *shy* ('~')
Can anyone help me to nominate my blog in the "Best Figurine Blog" please? (@@. http://www.nekomagic.com
er... i think one has to take photos of the figures him/herself to be eligible for that category.
good point.
Too many random stuff in my blog. Don't think I'll qualify as an anime blog.
I mainly use RSS, it's win. I think I read about 15-20 blogs, which is in my opinion alot. It's almost a pain to read and comment everyday, but it sure is fun. I don't think I would qualify with my blog or maybe. It's only about merchandise, but I'm not even a month old. (b・∀・)b So, it's kinda empty on posts and fresh new merch (for now).
Ah, can't vote for you or anyone else since I don't have a blog to begin with. I will root for you from my seat then (Though I certainly am no cheerleader).
I can't vote either for the same reason. Personally, I don't care much about such awards. Just like I'm not obligated to like a movie just because it won an Oscar such an contest won't change my opinion about the blogs I like.
D_Blade, have u ever considered starting a blog? will be interesting to hear your take on life, animes and other random stuffs. ^^;
Well, to be confessing to you (and all people here) I prefer to remain in the shadows and help people whenever they need me. Even if I like to be committed to things that matter to me, I believe that blogs are not an easy task. Constantly having to find and elaborate on subjects that have to be original, giving them a vibrant feeling and keeping a non-biased view, among others... That's quite something. What else to say? I'm not one to take pics, I don't like cameras (even if I don't have a monster's face), I don't feel much like watching every brand new ongoing series and instantly commenting on them... I love to give suggestions to others though... You could nag me via mail or instant messaging if you wish, no problem! ^^ And I feel your blog is doing really well, so I'll just be around.
Looks like danny is in the lead for "most influential blog" And mine own is not eligible for any of the awards, well, except for "rookie of the year" Feels wierd that it's primarily a figurine blog but it isn't eligible for the figurine blog award as it doesn't cover up to date figurines. Guess it's the downside of building resin kits which can take 1 month+ to finish...
Shana goes wheeeee
I miss her "Urusai" face somehow. ^^
i need more pheles art
Yappari, DannyChoo would be in Most Influential Blog. Hahaha... Well i don't think DannyChoo.com is AnimeBlog... but it's Otaku Blog. I've got many info about otaku here, not just about anime. Thanks Danny, you are the BEST!
I tried blogging over the past year and it wasn't as rewarding as I would have hoped. Maybe I wasn't doing as much promoting as I should have, or didn't post consistently. The whole reason I started blogging was so I could expose myself to peoples opinions, advice etc. Instead I had too little feedback and comments for IMO too much effort. Another reason for blogging was for me to review some figures not many people had, etc., and help people know if they're worth it or not. Perhaps I'm too young to be blogging, and I'm taking the lack of comments too much to heart. Either way I don't know what I did wrong, and I'm probably going to end up shutting my place down. I wish the best of luck to everyone, especially Gordon.
thanks kintaro for your encouragement. i really owe u one for that lovely anime girl u did for me as mascot for my blog. ^^; anyway don't give up! don't be disheartened by the lack of comments. i believe most people just read and view the pictures without commenting. other than blogging regularly, getting your feeds activated at otaku.fm and commenting on other blogs will help to get traffic to your site. i like some of the pictures on your site and it will be sad if u were to shut it down. do reconsider. :-(
Danny, is hard to thank you enough for all you doing, so THANK YOU for your work, you are the man, jaja
