If you read the puchi blurbs you will often see me talking about "getting a cuppa"
I'm talking about going to "get a cup of tea" and its usually PG Tips. I must have a few years worth of tea in stock as every time I meet folks who come to Japan from the UK, they bring me some tea - this last box was brought by member AndyH.
The water in Japan is a bit different in the UK so it doesn't taste the same without some hacks - which is to use two tea bags and brown or ice sugar also known as Kori Zato [氷砂糖].
Me usually make a jug of tea which has enough for 3 cups and drink straight out of the jug ^^;
Any English tea drinkers out there?

Japanese Green Sensha only, so far.
Planing to expand my japanese tea expierience next time when i go to the japan super market in Düsseldorf. ;)
Though me to like that green tea came not due Anime, it came thus playing Go and finding it can be relaxing and assists my progress in thinking about moves, also helps me while coding - weird. Oh and lolipops or nibbling on a carrot does as well, guess some stuff can as long as my mouth is occupied, watashi wa hen na! XD
Never had any kind of "UK Tea", only heard about it. Anything someone would recommend for a starter on UK Teas? ^o^

Milk in tea is an abomination! I like tea, but I don't drink too much of it. I like a lot of the weird Twinings blends, particularly their green teas. Great stuff.

Had some milk tea in Chatuchak in Bangkok. The guy making it would twirl around with two mugs of hot tea and condensed milk, cooling the mixture by passing it from one vessel to the other in the air. It was pretty yummy. 3 hours later, the guy was still at it. Must've made hundreds of cups with this method, non-stop, in the bright sunlight of late noon.

I worked at mandarin hotel, singapore before as a waiter and I have to memorize the names of english teas and also the wine list. What I can still remember is jasmine, earl grey, darjeeling, orange peko, dunno what breakfast.. I personally dont drink tea but what I can tell is that european guests that come to the restaurant for their breakfast can differentiate on the spot if we serve them the normal lipton teabags :)

More of a coffee nut, but the wife and I (wife especially) enjoy a good green tea. We've picked up the odd Twinings blend in the Supermarket, but mainly purchase from a small company here in the States that imports some fine Chinese and Indian teas. I'm afraid I never acquired the taste for either milk or sugar in my tea.

How is the water in Japan different?? I love Norfolk water, I drink soooooo much of it... I don't know what I'd do without it.
And do you like to drink the tea hot? Or do you leave it to cool? Cos you said you have it in a jug, so it can't stay hot that way unless its a thermos jug or something....

I don't like English tea. A lot of the English teas I've had are black teas (I've also had India Black Tea... which wasn't all that good either). If I'm not mistaken, you add cream/milk to some English teas as well? I never like adding things like that to my tea, always ruins it.
Blah, to the point; English tea = not that great. Herbal and Mint teas are what I am particularly fond of. Even the good ole lemon tea, or anything with a bit of spice/fragrance.

I think you are thinking of the differences of milk first or added after. On milk first, when the hot tea is added, the milk is scorched and becomes chemically different. On milk added later, the heat exchange is more even.
I should stop researching my tea..
