None of these tips would work for the ones here in the US since they are totally rigged. Here you have to watch someone win, then sit and wait until another person wins and count how many times people lost in between, then you have to wait until the same amount of people lose and then you can try to win. The tricks for the Japanese machine don't work here because there is always a large raised part where the prize falls so you can't knock one in.

too bad most of those wont work on UFO catchers here, owners here take extra effort in making it imposisble (like a plastic barrier to prevent you from just knocking things over to the hole)

Ive only won once in these things. My prized penguin from it sits on top of my monitor as some sort of grand trophy.

The ones in the UK are evil... they have a plastic wall round the hole you gotta drop them in, so you actually have to get them in the air before they drop.
The Japanese ones are easier... :sulk:

Right here in Singapore they have some stupid plastic barrier surrounding the hole... and in reality, do they really put all the items this close to the hole?

Seriously though, anyone ever got a Wii on those UFO catchers?

As I've seen it, it's almost impossible.

Sorry guys, but the next time you go to Japan, you'll be extremely disappointed that most of the UFO catchers will not be as convenient as the ones you see in that video.

A figure or plushie that you'd actually be intrested in will most likely be placed further away from the hole. Those machines will probably have the plastic barrier, as well, like the ones you'll find in Akihabara (too bad, so sad...).

Of course this only applies to the prizes that matter. Cheapo lame prizes like that Elmo doll will be the easy ones to get, but not the more expensive (and cuter) ones like the Haruhi figures.

This comment speaks truth. It's nowhere as easy as this video makes it out to be.

And here I was looking for some real tips.

That seemed too good to be true anyway. It's never that easy to get something out of those machines. Plus there's never a sparce amount of anything in them, it's always packed, and usually with crap.

Theory is nice but I don't think it is that easy. However it is a nice confirmation that you have to analyze the prizes carefully (size, position, location) before attempting anything.
Well, this video didn't entice me to try UFO catchers... This video reeks of "It's so easy, we show you all secrets for free", you can do it too.
I even wonder if it's a setup by a mysterious conglomerate of UFO catchers owners?
Forget my conspiracy-themed comment, recently woke up from a long dream. ^^;
