Akihabara Maid Cafe

Akihabara Maid Cafe
Tried to go to a maid cafe last week in Akiba but was to be greeted with extremely long queues outside each establishment.
Tried looking for one that didn't have queues but could find any so gave up.
When you are in Japan, would you spend a few hours trying to get into a maid cafe?

Would never wait in line for a normal Maid Cafe!

I WOULD, on the other hand try a "Maid Bar", that is, a bar that has Maid hostesses. It is like a hostess bar, but with Maidos instead.(There is one close to NAKANO BROADWAY) Depending on which one you go to, the girls are REALLY cute & sexy. Also many "services" are offered!

I dont think I will go to Akiba , just to get a very expensive coffee and look at a totally average, boring, un-sexy Japanese girl dressed as a Maid...

- that's one of the problems with some popular maid cafes like @home, mailish to name a few. i would mind waiting in line for less than an hour but waiting for more than hour is a bit much for me unless the maid cafe has some really cute maids then i wouldn't mind ^^

- have you tried other maid cafes in akiba danny?

- for those who wants to discover the maid cafe experience but don't know which maid cafe to start, here's an akiba map where it has the locations of all of the maid cafes in akiba ^^

Must be kinda hard... Maid cafes must have regular clients...
Anyways, I'd like to go to one just to see how it is... but I'm not much into waiting in lines too.

I even bought this Akiba-guide to Maid cafes, but ended up not using it.

I thought with so many Maid Cafe in Akihabara, there won't be much queues but I guess I was wrong. I would not spend hours trying to get in one though. Because if there are many people waiting in line, even if you manage to get in, service would be poor due to so many people to serve. You won't be able to enjoy the maid cafe fully with so many people inside +_+

I went in that cafe twice on my last Tokyo trip!
The maid cafe was super cute, and the maiko cafe was quite intresting!

@ home cafe is well worth the wait, but i was lucky and went when there wasnt a queue. Whenever i want a quick maid cafe visit, i go to cafe with cat on the 2nd floor of comic toranoana. There are rarely queues, and its pretty laid back in there.

I just saw part of an interview today with the proprietor of a maid cafe in Canada, complete with Japanese girls. Evidently they went out of business already, alas.

Haven't seen anything like a maid cafe here in Taibei yet, but I haven't been looking.

Damn it, I remember this place. @home cafe's located at the 7th floor and the queue started from the 2nd. I didn't bother so I just wasted time loitering outside the premises, only to have one of the maids telling me to leave ;-; Btw that maid you see there is their star who goes by the name of hitomi-chan.

BTW, Most maid cafes in Akiba have "Valentine's Day" special promotion from this week to the next week. It's very good time to raid maid cafes for return match(^^;... Shall we have a maid cafe off-kai in this weekend ??

That reminds me of that scene in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya when Kyon and his friends waited in line to see Tsuruya-san and Mikuru-chan's Cafe. What did Tsuruya say? Bad yakisoba and tap water? lol

I personally hate long line-ups so I would avoid it, but if I had more time it would be a unique Japanese experience for sure :)

Maybe not hours, but I'm quite sure that I'd wait at least a few minutes, because I definitely want to visit a maid cafe some day. Oh, and waiting shouldn't be any problem, because there's one really popular cafe here in Helsinki, which is sometimes during the summer time so crowded, that you have to wait to get inside. And there are no maids in there.

Heading to Jap for the whole of March, and a Maid Cafe experience is definitely on the itinerary. I suppose we can try minimizing the wait by going on days that are not so busy like weekdays and camping out well in advance of opening hours hehehe :P

Been planning this trip for waaaay too long, would be a shame to not go to a maid cafe after spending all that time and money getting to Japan.

Even the hostess bars mentioned in other posts will be good too. I am just a suck for cute girls in maid outfits and glasses.
