If you are in the Kyoto area and wouldnt mind working part time for Nintendo, you may be interested in being a debugger for their games. The job description is here which says that the hourly pay is 900 yen and that you will be on a probation period for 2 weeks before they decide whether its worth keeping you or chucking you out. Hours are from 10AM to 530 PM with an hours break. Transportation fee will be paid for. Contract is renewable every 3 to 6 months depending on performance. Anybody want to be paid for playing games all day? Via Hobby Blog. 100 SNES games in 10 mins below.
Uwaaa~~ I wish I was in Kyoto!!
Sheesh?! 900 Yen? that's it? You might as well make more coin being a Tenga cup tester.
BTW, nice suggestion here - one can be eroge-and-tenga-tester at once ^^;
6300 yen a day and transport for playing games? I don't think thats bad for part time work at all. :P
Not bad for a part timer (especially a student), but the hours are questionable themselves... I mean, I myself am studying during this time, just as an example. I don't know about you guys, but school > part time work in terms of priorities. So if this doesn't address the typical teen to low 20 year olds, then I wonder who their target audience is :s
Tengas was hiring for a postition to FILL in their SPOT for marketing in the US. Wow, this is almost too easy.
900 yen is about how much to manage a pizza shop in my neck of the woods, so the pay will be decent. But sadly, San Diego is not Kyoto :(
i would love to take their offer. Y900/hr is not that bad and you get to play with games before everyone else and maybe bump, talk or play with Shigeru Miyamoto ^____^
WOAH!!!! that is AWSOME!!! sure wish i was in japan now ].[
128,700 yen/month at 5 working days each week, 10AM - 530PM.. Too low, pass.. ^^
a relaxing alternative from a stressed lifeless job?
Videogame industry is not the image everyone thinks it to be. It's quite demanding, especially video game testers. Considering that they don't keep up in find bugs/glitches/errors and what not, they'll soon find themselves back on the streets looking for a job. If you look into programming and other facets of the industry, it's even worse. You're pulling whole nighters (as it is a requirement sometimes), especially near release date, just so you can polish the game for mass production. People think it's a walk in the park, but it's got a lot of stress. It's one of the reasons why I made Videogame design the 3rd choice of post secondary education on my list. Engineering for me ^_^;
I played so many of those snes games!!! I muz be old.... =(
AAAAAAH!!! OMG! I am actually going to university to study Computing with Multimedia with a view to getting into to Gaming industry, and working for Nintendo would be a dream come true...where is a house in Japan when you need one? T_T Zetsubou da!
Did I hear someone asking about a house in Japan? ^^ http://japankeibai.com/property/listing/cat/current
That is one heck of a job. I would love to work for Nintendo. Sadly, I live in Canada. Why don't they have jobs here like in Japan...
maybe i should give up all my aspirations and go for this... after all, living life easy IS one of my aspirations...
My used to be a game tester for Activision and he told me playing game for work is nothing like playing game for fun. And plus they have to test unfinished version of the game so fun is even less -_-
One of my brother's friends tested for sony. He would play and be like; "Yup, this wall works. This one too, and thi- wait." He got the job through Monster. So if you guys wanna test games put up your resume. He got hired pretty quick, and you should be able to make a quick buck too.
What kind of games are we talking about? If it's like the video, I'll pass...
900 yen/hour... although when compared to other countries is pretty good, in Tokyo/Japan in general, is pathetic. Ok, I guess you could survive... and would be cool or a NEET or something who still lives with his parents... but IMO anyone who "should" be applying for this kind of job... *I mean it's like full frigging time... you don't even get to choose your own working hours!* could have done much better in their lives. Anyway, that aside, I like the BGM in the video... does anyone know it..?
asiasoft GMs who are tasked to find bugs in games like maplestory are paid S$1300 for a full time job. Thats like 98000 Yen a month.
i'd try it i mean why not? BUT I'M NOT IN KYOTO (sob sob)
hey, I do the same thing for Nintendo of America here in Washington (in the summer when school is not trying to kill me) and its not a bad job at all. Except it looks like we work a lot longer hours, get the same pay, and don't get transportation paid for.
hey i would be getting more by the hour then my current one but then again mines casual :P still debugger games and fre transport :P does that include airfares if i was really keen :p
being a tester will get a lot of abuse and demand. but it's just another way to get in the industry and get recognized by people in it and by THE important people
