When you are bored of going to cafes at Akiba that have maids or pajama girls, you can always go to Neko Jalala - a cafe where you can look at and play with cats. Costs 500 yen for 30 mins to feast your eyes on the feline residents of the cafe - drink not included. Akibablog has more pics of the cafe. What the visitors of the cafe probably dont know is that cats can be seen in neighborhood streets and can be looked at for free. Not only can you be charged to be slapped by a pajama girl, you can now also be charged for looking at a cat. I'm wondering whats next.
I don't know, maybe I'm such a sucker for cats, but I would LOOVE~ to do this. I absolutely adore cats, but I wouldn't be able to own one in Japan (I mean, I'll be having a small apartment with tons of fragile figures...), so I think this is a great solution. Do you get to play and hug the cats while you're there? Plus, I thought there would definately be some Neko-Mimi girls working there, but it looks like there are none. :P
I hate cats, these little buggers are making lots of crap around my house, if I had a air pressured shotgun I would be shooting a lot of kitties around here.
Just spray them with water, that way they dont have to get hurt, but they will avoid you. I dont know for the life of me why anyone would pay to be near cats. EVER.
Yeah, waterguns are the best weapons against cats. Wonder if it works on lions though.
Lions, eh? For that you'll need to upgrade to a pressured hose... you know, like those two that you can see on a Blastoise.
Water cannons for Great Justice then!
Just because you don't like cats doesn't give you the right to hurt them.
Cat fan here. But I just gave the less harmful way of repelling felines. I am also a partisan of no harm to animals.
We could use lethal/non-painful weapons instead. Would that help?
@BIG BOSS, D_Blade, DRAGUN: I agree with all of you, I hate animal cruelty.
No nekomimi? Awwww... No go for me then :( I don't really like animals :P
Next step: Charge for a pajama girl to slap you in the face with a live cat? Still no touchy. It's no wet dog, but its close. Drink not included.
Wait wait.. a slap in the face with a pussy, but not touchy? I confused.
LOL @ pussy! ^^
LOL
LOL Thats rich....
No touchy for the guy, but lots of touchy for the cat... OUCH! @.@
lol sweet, id pay a visit if i lived close
lol thats funny. you can look at tons of cats walking in the streats and pet them if you wish. why make a cat cafe [.[
I was wondering the same thing too, Last{[0]}Raven, but I am starting to think, if seeing this as a break from maid cafe, could this be the start of......
inter-species interest?
Don't know much about cats, eh? See cats, yes. Pet them, no. Rare is the cat that will allow itself to be petted or even approached. On the other hand, a cat cafe cat WILL socialize with you (confession: I've actually been to a cat cafe in Kichijoji and hey, it's relaxing).
A phonecam shot (faces obscured to protect privacy, including the catnapping young woman) http://www.flickr.com/photos/calton/2091486668/ Man, I gotta go back.
Man, kitties are the best, but I think I'd rather buy one for a permanent pet than plunk down money to drink with one.
I love kittens but unfortunately I'm like Sakaki-san, if I went to that cafe I would leave with bandages ;_;
Next, they'll be kicking you in the balls and getting punched in the gut by a cute maid... For a price... Of 500 yen... Per punch and kick...
The real question is : Would you rather go to a Cat Cafe or a Girls Bedroom Visit? Such a waste of money these days!
Neko koneko? Well, I have nothing against cats, but I am pretty alergic to them, so I'm just pass this one out.
I love cats enough to actually spend money on this. I had a bunch of cats growing up but can't own one now, much more important stuff to worry about.
wai~! a neko cafe where you can get to play with some cats ^^ i love cats but i don't want to spend that much just to play with one lolz
Same here.
Same here² I got 2 at home so it would be even more unnecessary ^^
It would be a great way to meet some cute girls...
A cat is fine TOO. Anyway, got 3kitties last week. Looks like theyre getting healthy
If it were like a normal cafe where they charged you for the food and there happenned to be cats around and cat-themed wall decorations and cat-costumed girls serving, I'd definitely pass by in the event I came to Japan. More so than a Maid Cafe. But if it really is 500 yen (around 200 pesos here, just short of daily minimum wage) to look at the cats for half an hour, then, no thanks. I've got a great colony of cats who one day decided to set up shop in our garden.
Here in Taibei there are quite a few internet cafes that draw customers by keeping cats around. One has to pay for drinks and food, but the cats are free.
Was half expecting them to charge the customer another 500yen to be clawed in the face.
LOL, and they would sell you hairballs too, I presume.
Looks like Akiba wants your riches so badly it hurts. I'd seriously decline that kind of services and rather go broke on figures and other anime-related products.
Wow, pay 500 yen just go look at cats? I don't think that's worth my money. I'd rather go buy myself a cat, but then again, it would cost more money.
i guess in japan there's always something for everyone, speaking lightly... i'm half-suspecting that it's a new fe-blam!-sh or something...
Huh. I actually kinda want to check out this place. (Though I'd prefer a puppy cafe :P)
doggy cafe next, those Doggy have more Styles
Having a cat is like having a rash. Now a puppy/maid cafe? That would rock. I don't nkow anyone who dislikes puppies, plus you can have wonderful young ladies to "help you pet them." :D
maybe they have cute girls in cat outfit in there. and with an additional small fee, give you a lick on your ears. ('~')
I heard about this place in Japan and I wanted visit it at least once but couldn't. I raise two dogs so feasting my eyes on cats can be a nice change of thing ^^;
OMG I LOVE CATS!!! Thats such a weird fetish to have though.... Ara ara.... kitties and drinkies.... so cool..... I do love cats though... My cat especially. I spose if you lived in Tokyo and couldn't keep a cat this would be the place to go to play with kitties.
Oh my! I would love to go there!!! I'm heading Tokyo way next week and I most certainly will be looking out for it (as the other kinds of... interesting... cafes aren't really my cup of tea...!)
I only hope that if I told them that I have a cat at home, they wouldn't charge me for it xD
they probably catnapped all the neighborhood cats and put them in the cat cafe. if anyone is missing a cat just go to the cat cafe, you can probably get back your little feline friend.
Lost and found office. Not to confuse with a member of this community. ;)
Danny haven't you learned yet. Don't ever ask "What's next." or say "It can't get any worst than this." ^o^
oh at the top floor of tokyu hands in Ikebukuro, they have a "Nekobukuro" floor which you pay to play with kitties LOL wonder if it is the same branch.
That would never work here. For a food-related business to keep any sort of animal inside their building would be a violation of food-safe regulations and they would be shut down immedeatelly.
WTF?!! LOL!!
The cafe I have always dreamt about! x3 But I´m allergic...
Reminds me of Nayuki and Piro from Kanon... "Piro Piro Pirooo~..."
I would go if I did not have the heavy allergies to cat hair as I did.
oh my god, CATS!!! :'DDDD oh man, I'm also cat lover <3 and I hope someday I would go there, to play with other kitten <3 I can't resist when looking at their face, so adorable lol xD
Eventhough we know we can still looks & play with stray cats in our neighbourhood, we still went to cat cafe or cat playground when we were in Tokyo ^^; cuz we're a cat lover & really wanna hug cats (clean ones / not stray). I find Neko Jalala quite expensive though cuz you pay that much for only 1/2 hour. I visited Nekobukuro (not a cat cafe, but a cat playground) at Ikebukuro, Tokyu Hands highest level & paid 1000 yen (for a couple) can play & have fun with the cats for more than 1 hour (or i think as long as you want).
