Have always been a fan of Loose socks but not of youngsters smoking. Do you often see young kids that smoke in your region? Via Neta.
so young and cute ... and they smoke? danny, you should advice them next time you see them smoking. Smoking chicks never turns me on even if she has a face of Miss Universe. Kids in Malaysia do start early as well around secondary school which is 13.
Yup.I have this friend,he's malay christian and he started smoking at 13 or 14.Influced by his "friends".Sigh '~'
I love smoking. Without it I wouldnt fancy living too much. I started at 19 years old, maybe these girls look a little young. I reckon it should be 16 years old like it used to be in the UK. Girls in Jpan smoke these "Ultra Lights" anyway, which , even if you smoke 20 of them, its like smoking 2 fags. Big deal.
In Mexico the average age to start smoking is 14 years. Yesterday I see some statistics in the news, they say that among young people boys and girls smoke at the same percentage, girls smoke more and more every day. I kinda hate tobacco I even stop frequenting friends when they start smoking, but in some places like my school I'm surrounded by people smoking. It's really nasty, and really stupid.
i did see many young people smoke in the nation where i am. . feels terrible seeing them smoke,
I think they are just looking around...don't think they are actually going to buy em...
maybe they are buying for their dads?
gordon, I feel that asking children to run that kind of errands is wrong in any way. Even if machines don't ask for ID cards.
but nonetheless, it exists. good thing Singapore doesn't have this sort of machines... *shivers* i've seen kids who are 12 smoke like as though they've been at it for years.
I thought smoking was illegal and banned in singapore? . As for the girls smoking, I agree with D Blade on this one. Parents shouldn't be asking kids for this kind of errand.
for a country where they ban everything regarding smoking, Singapore probably even worse then Indonesia (in terms of how many people you see smoking) lol
It is sad indeed, but from what I have read in Doraemon, it seems sending kids on an errand to buy cigarettes is considered alright in Japan. For instance, I often read stories in which Nobita is asked to buy some cigarettes by his father.
CaTZ, you're probably right. Especially near teen hotspots, it's almost a mini Industrial Age, complete with a cloud of smog over their heads....
I remember when I was a kid, I often ran errands for my dad to buy his cigarretts, which was pretty common back in the days in Korea. In fact, my grandparents ran a small cigarrette shop and sometimes I would even sell cigarretts to customers even though I was only like 7 years old -_- Things are a lot more different nowadays of course but just wanted to share my experience ^^; I'm non-smoker btw.
tsk tsk... Little do they know what their future will turn out to be...
Daijin-kun... smoking in itself isn't banned.. just banned in many public areas like air-conditioned areas, restaurants, pubs, bus-stops and the like. And it is mandatory to prove one is above 18 when purchasing... but I guess there are loopholes in this law. Having said that, i do hope one day smoking is totally banned... It even harms innocent bystanders with 2nd hand smoke.. which i totally can't stand
Makes me feel pretty sad when kids start doing things like that :(
Isnt that Japan's vending machine already feature with identifiy-face-to-determine-age within the beer and smoke 's vending machine to prevent under age people to buy those stuff?
Ops~ lost word: "identifiy-face-to-determine-age technology"
wow!, those two look no older than my two daughters!!....and i thought they banned all cigarette machines??...well its a shame that they start so young!!
Haven't seen them smoking, but to come across a few who reek of smoke.
Fuzakeruna! ...Wait. 2 possible scenarios: 1) - Oh, what are those? - Ah, they are cigarette packs! - 'kay! - Isn't it funny to use those machines? - Yep! 2) - Wah, what are you doing? - I'm in an errand for my daddy! - I see! I just hope they won't be early starters...
I agree #2 is probably the situation.
LOL @ D Blade I like how you assessed the situation. ^^; I pick scenario #1
@D_Blade, It could also be Scenario #3: 3. "Damn that unprotected underage sex was fantastic/illegal, I could use a smoke" "Like they do in the movies?" "Yes, because I am easily influenced by the media" "So am I... Do you have any idea what we are talking about?" "No, but my sister was saying this earlier, and it sounded cool" "lets go play!" "Yaaaaay" .....So, it could be that, or #1. Either way. Lol. ( I know someone choked on a drink while they were reading that at first).
I was eating a fishball, not drinking... *hakk*wheeze*choke* Kids these days are getting more knowledgeable about the adult world at younger ages...
i choked on my tea and it made a mess.=_=" kids these days.=_=" always trying so hard to surpass their elders.
@DRAGUN: LOL!
*Bows*
@DRAGUN It's freaky how i've overheard a similar conversation by some 14'ish girls a few months ago...the world is going to heck
@NOVA: I agree, its getting a little scary... okay, a LOT scary. These kids know more sexual positions than I do... and Im fairly experienced in that area. I blame parents.. I could blame the internet, but its the parents fault for not doing something about it.. but then... I was looking at Playboys when I was ten.
By the way, Vending Machine Red should come around and scare the soul out of them. That's how you should actively protect the youngest generation from risky behavior... by starting early.
Oops. The real sentence was: "showing them early what's about healthy life". My bad. ^^
Or this Vending Machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av97oNaEgzE Its got a vending machine, Haruhi, and Japan in it... so I guess its good?
No, you missed the point entirely. Keywords: Red+Vending+Machine+Camouflage+Surprise+Attack+Scare+Crap+Out+Kids+No+Smoke. ^^;
LOL DRAGUN, that was random...
Thats what I do best.
gosh that's awful :(
At a mall food court in Japan, I saw a dad give his 4 year old money to go buy cigarettes at the vending machine. It was both adorably cute and frightening at the same time.
here, they are very strick on underage smoking, but a large number still smokes. However less kids here in USA smoke then from what I saw back in Belarus where in class I was one of the few who was not.
They're look like they're just buying cigs for dad or one of the lazy elder siblings. The Japanese sure have a nonchalant attitude towards smoking, seems like everyone there puffs the magic dragon. I had my first smoke when I was 10, started the daily habit when I was 16 and quit when I turned 24 five months ago. I don't regret ever doing it though, a lot of good memories and moments came with it.
Underage smoking is not uncommon in Hong Kong. Voluntary trials have shown that it's very easy for teenagers to buy cigarettes from stores and vendors (over 70% success rate). It has been a concern, but actions against the problem has been relatively slow. While the girls in the photo above simply may look curious about the vending machines, I cannot judge the situation simply from pictures. Nevertheless I won't be surprised if underage smoking is common in Japan, especially in urban areas such as Tokyo.
Yeah same here, many ppl in my class smoke, and to get the stuff, i think they ask someone older (like 18) to buy for them, and then gives the money that you get back to the one that bought it, either like that or they steal from their parents (if they smoke that it is) :/
Sadly, a lot of young kids start smoking just to look or feel cool. They dont know about the real health hazard and how hard it is to stop smoking once you started. I wish we had more in-depth infomercials about this subject in my country instead of that 2 and a half seconds crap of "Cigarette smoking is dangerous for your health" written in very small font after each cigarette commercial. The problem is that those tobacco companies dont really want minors (or adults) to be scared of their products. Lets face it, it's business. The earlier the customers starts, the better for them. '~'
Thats bad. Over here in Canada there are laws about this. People not over 19 can't buy them. In other places I don't know. Kids buying smokes from vending machines is bad. Who would want to die early...
"Unfortunately" L.A, America has invented new vending machine called Marijuana vending machine that beats Japan cigarette vending machine. Japan is losing "cool" factor now, gotta invent new fetish vending machine. http://youtube.com/watch?v=oe_6opRXOcg
On the subject of trying to look cool, kids usually do the dumbest stuff like this http://youtube.com/watch?v=GWj_PQQ4zGs .
ROFLMAOOMGWTFBBQKITTY!!!!! That was intense. Thanks fer sharing that video.
Well, he asked for it. Great retribution.
This one is even better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
!@#$% That's crazy. That's really dumb.
That idiot who just dived out of the car must be sick and tired of life... can't he at least look before doing the prank?!?!
radical anime fan, he couldn't since he's an idiot. ^^;
LOL, I hope that hit to the face clears his mind up... Now, he needs to reflect on what he had done... And GODDAMN IT DRAGUN!
I read some comments that the kid died. can anyone confirm it? =o
@DRAGUN: i dont really get you. what does Rick Roll have to do with that? on another note, the idiot in the first video deserved to die.
I remember hearing the outcome of this video, apparently he survived, but lost every single one of his teeth and had his nose badly broken. He also had to writhe in pain for half an hour while the ambulance arrived.
@Deadly Lampshade: Good to hear the idiot survived. I kinda felt bad calling him names coz I thought he died, now I dont.=p
@Setsuna-san, you just got Rick Rolled, thats whay it has to do with it. lol... Lost and Found, see comment above. I promise, it wont happen again for a while. I dont want it to get old.
To redeem myself, here is a related video that the first clip reminded me of, this one is old, but it has better music. (I swear on D_Blades life it is not Rick Roll): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQg2kumVHGg&NR=1 Come on, click on it.. whats the worst that could happen?
DRAGUN, how stupid can they get? That is the question... And please don't swear on my life, I'm no merchandise. X|
@D_Blade, I never implied you were merchandise.. lol, Sorry if I offended. But its really ISNT a Rick Roll vid.. and it actually related. The people who have some faith in humanity will watch it, and appreciate that I am not lying. How are you doing by the way?
It took quite a while until I was able to click that link, I was even thinking about comparing the links first but.... IT'S NOT RICK, YAY!
Tempest, same here. ^^;;
LMAO! Like its a landmine or something... Ahhhh.. good times.
Near bus stops, shopping malls, behind public toilets, everywhere. Strangely enough, most people I know who became underaged smokers tend to quit around the age of 17-18. Most seem to worry about the impact on their health while others say the financial cost is too much to bear. Few that still smoked appeared like men in their late 20's and 30's when I bumped into them on separate occasions!
Smoking youngsters...? IN MY AMERICA?! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!11111one
Cute kids... I'm just hoping this is the situation: "Hey, is this the one daddy asked for?" Yeah, that's defnitely it. And even so, setting bad examples... "Hey, is this the lady daddy asked the used panty from?" XD
Haven't seen any 'young' smokers that I can recall. Youngest I can remember is maybe 16 or 17, where as the legal age is 18. Does Japan have any laws regarding legal drinking and smoking age?
I used to be a heavy smoker. Luckily I went down to half a dozen a year. It tears me to see smokers that young. And when I do smoke, at social gatherings, I try not to do it in front of the young ones.
These vending machine should have a height detector to at least make things hard for them, anyway it needs to launch pedobear after these kids. Personally I find smoking disgusting and a pointless waste of cash.
Japan age-verification machines: http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/31/japan-to-roll-out-age-verifying-cigarette-machines/ http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/03/fujitaka-readies-age-verifying-cigarette-machines-for-japanese-l/
wow they got cig vendingmachines too in japan? thats pretty tight.. i dont smoke though... the cops here catch people easily if their on the street doing it so everyone is smoking the 420 at the house
That's so sad.... I hate cigarette. It really turns me off. Though there are a lot of smokers in Brazil and publicity is allowed (with appropriete health advice about its problems), majority people is against smoke. I don't remember to see young smokers here.
Here in the UK it's difficult to find kids that don't smoke, especially amongst girls. Smoking's a scandalous waste of money, but it does make people look cool :-)
This is true. Back at age 12, I was one of maybe seven people that didn't smoke within my school. The worst thing is that a lot of authorities think that they will stop after a "good talking to".
I see a lot of smoking kids from the school next to me, most of them are around 15-16. But 90% of them are idiots anyway, so I don't really care...
*next to mine
in singapore, the government shows scary anti-smoking tv ads and posters to discourage smoking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHA0HRjDgc8
and the best part was that the last one, and the most effective one (to date, anyways) turned out to be done by an actress... -_-''' what a weird turn of events.
Doesn't smoking stunt your growth? Maybe they've been smoking for a reeeeally long time.
