I've gone into some weird habit of buying the doujinshi/art book/manga of something I like and then download them on PC so I won't need to read the actual books to prevent them from wear/tear... Maybe little too extreme?

Neither, if you have super-photographic memory then you could easily just watch it before hand then do your business in the shower. Less mess and saves the trouble of cleaning up.

One question, can one really reach satisfaction by whacking off to something with no storyline?

Strangely, I tend to feel the contrary.
Most doujinshi have a storyline that doesn't please me, or go for fantasies/fetish that are not to my liking (bukkake being one of them)... That is why I don't possess any, or looked at translated scans and got rid of them fairly quickly. ^^;
