That's just a coincidence.

My friend told me, that he had asked the owner of that place, if he knows what that means in Japanese. Apparently, many Japanese visitors have been laughing at the name over the years so he knows.

Oh, and when Keitaro Arima (of Tsukuyomi fame) was in Finland, he visited that cafe.

Lol, did you know that there is a town in Australia called Eromanga? It's a small town Southwest of Queensland.

There is also the Eromanga basin which is a large Mesozoic sedimentary basin. So there are many things called eromanga besides hentai manga XD

Linked my fine Finnish friend to this, she found it hilarious, though it's apparently just a home bakery.

Eromanga isn't a Finnish word however, so this appears to just be another case of some random company making up an interesting sounding name without being aware that it means something in a different language.

Online Dictionary says:
(3) Results for finnish word: "ero"
1	  ero 	 difference
2	  ero 	 inequality
3	  ero 	 parting

Nothing for manga though. >_>

Name "Eromanga" doesn't mean anything in Finnish. It's just a place far away from Finland, and for some unknown reason that bakery has just chosen it to be their name. "Ero", however, does have a meaning on Finnish. It means same as "difference". And of course there's a word "erotiikka" in Finnish, but people don't call it "ero" here.

There are also some other funny examples. For example, company called Taffel sells potato chips, and the biggest bag of chips is called Mega Pussi, which may sound funny in English. But "pussi" means just "bag" in English, nothing rude. Another, a bit older example are biscuits which were called Rape. For some reason they didn't live long...

Maybe you can. It's false advertising. However I think since it's Finland the advertise has to be in Finnish, Swedish (half of Finland speaks Swedish) or English. It's assumed that people don't know second meanings in other languages. I would really hate to open a store and then get sued because the name turns out to mean "free beer" in Swahili or Croatian or whatever ^^;

I've been to the place many times and once asked the lady behind the counter what's with the name. Her answer was that when they were deciding the name for the store they just randomly picked a name of some random island, which happend to be called Eromanga, thus leaving no real connections with japanese language.

I heard this from my friend and I will try to explain it to you. :P

In Finland we have word "hanavesi" what comes from words "hana" meaning "tap" and "vesi" meaning "water". When we start playing with words we can have funny coincidences. In japanese we also have word "hana" meaning nose and word "mizu" meaning water.

Let's start:

"Hanavesi" ---> Tap water
"Hanavesi" ---> はなvesi (now we changed finnish word hana(=tap) to japanese word "hana"(=nose)
"はなvesi" ----> はなみず (and now we change finnish word vesi(=water) to japanese word "mizu"

...and now we get word はなみず "hanamizu" and what I have heard it means snot. Is that true?

I hope you understand my bad explanation and catch the joke. :P
