フィンランドでは「エロマンガ」というパン屋さんが実在する。HPはwww.eromanga.infoで確認出来ます。 売っているパンは全然えろくないらしい。 2008-01-24 18:27:39
Does it acutally mean something in Finland or just a coincidence...?
That's just a coincidence. My friend told me, that he had asked the owner of that place, if he knows what that means in Japanese. Apparently, many Japanese visitors have been laughing at the name over the years so he knows. Oh, and when Keitaro Arima (of Tsukuyomi fame) was in Finland, he visited that cafe.
Haha, that's cool. Thanks for letting me know~ It's nice that the owner of the shop didn't change the name of the shop even after he found out about it. Seems like he has a sense of humor ^^;
i guess he knows that any publicity is good publicity in his case
lol... i remembered that here in the philippines there's a salon named douche. really funny. and its full of gays
pssst danny, if you want ero bread, you have to say the secret password. the password is ... ('~')
('~')
Now i get my bread, don't I? lol
lol i wonder what's the reaction of some japanese when they found out about this XDDD
Lol, did you know that there is a town in Australia called Eromanga? It's a small town Southwest of Queensland. There is also the Eromanga basin which is a large Mesozoic sedimentary basin. So there are many things called eromanga besides hentai manga XD
that show how ero the world is... ero banzai~!
I second that! Ero-banzai~! Imma start a small business and name it Eromanga tew! FTW~
they made a joke about it in Ichigo Mashimaro. my reaction was WTF? O__o?
A guy from australia goes to japan. "I am from Eromanga."
XD
lol I did not know about that up until now, thanks for the info lol... I know Australia has a lot of strange names....not related in anyway to Japan but... There's a place not too far from where I live called "Tumbledown D i c k" EroManga is such a cool name though... a great coincidence.
Didnt know about it till i saw 2x2=Shinobuden XD. EROMOTION!~
Indeed. One of the "famous" studies on basin exhumation rates was carried out on the Eromanga Basin. But what is the origin of the word eromanga though? Is it Finnish?
so that means ero mange not just for read, use for "pleasure" but also allow us to eat it? hmm~ nice idea...
LMAO XD thanks for uploading this article danny XD
maybe it's in the basement... lol. what is the exact meaning of the word in finland, anyway?
Otaku might misunderstood it and we'll have a "live" show
lololol! Would love to know what eromanga actually means in Finnish. ^^
Linked my fine Finnish friend to this, she found it hilarious, though it's apparently just a home bakery. Eromanga isn't a Finnish word however, so this appears to just be another case of some random company making up an interesting sounding name without being aware that it means something in a different language.
Looks like someone was searching for eromanga and came to a wrong turn. :P Online Dictionary says: (3) Results for finnish word: "ero" 1 ero difference 2 ero inequality 3 ero parting Nothing for manga though. >_>
Name "Eromanga" doesn't mean anything in Finnish. It's just a place far away from Finland, and for some unknown reason that bakery has just chosen it to be their name. "Ero", however, does have a meaning on Finnish. It means same as "difference". And of course there's a word "erotiikka" in Finnish, but people don't call it "ero" here. There are also some other funny examples. For example, company called Taffel sells potato chips, and the biggest bag of chips is called Mega Pussi, which may sound funny in English. But "pussi" means just "bag" in English, nothing rude. Another, a bit older example are biscuits which were called Rape. For some reason they didn't live long...
A friend of mine sent me a bag of Juusto cheese snacks, and she said some bilingual comedians do make jokes about check out people asking if they would like a pussi. ;) I'm thinking the makers know the joke, as the snack logo is a bit funny too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tfangel/3527279999/in/set-72157617990487335/
LOL @ Rape biscuits and Mega Pussi! Thanks for the info Hachiroku :D
I can see why the biscuits didn't survive. Word sounds... *laughter*
LOL!! Hachiroku thank you for sharing the informations! That was so funny ^^
Well, this could be related on the idea why rapeseed was renamed canola...
LOL it's really weird if those things are sold here... Really awkward...
LOL. Words can be misleading.
Eromanga is a town in Australia. If you have ever watched Ichigo Mashimaro Miu points it out in on a map/globe in one episode.
Eromanga was also on 2x2 Shinobuden (released as Ninja Nonsense in the US).
you heard of the gingerbread man, wait till you see the gingerbread girl. ('~')
wonder if they also sell ero-cupcakes... and ero-buns
XD ROFL
hahaha (^_^)
What no eroge?! I'm suing the place
Maybe you can. It's false advertising. However I think since it's Finland the advertise has to be in Finnish, Swedish (half of Finland speaks Swedish) or English. It's assumed that people don't know second meanings in other languages. I would really hate to open a store and then get sued because the name turns out to mean "free beer" in Swahili or Croatian or whatever ^^;
I like to eat bread as many and tasty but do they have ero-pandesal or ero-pan????
Funny that they don't use the term "ero" like we do. For twisted minds, you'd almost read "porno" instead of "pomo" above the logo... Or maybe it's just me?
I didn't realize this >_< I lost. You're more perverted than I am. ^^
Why, thank y... Ehhh? What are you supposing by that? XD
No, no, nothing really important. Don't worry too much about it. ^^
Heheheheh, I saw it earlier and thought. "eh" But now I do find it quite funny.
I wonder if the owner has ever watched Yakitate!! Japan >.>
he got interested after a Japanese tourist informed him about it :P (actually I have no idea)
It's a trap for Otaku for sure. It's purpose is to: lure us to Finland > get inside the bekary > when we'll find out that it's not an ero place they suppose that we'll think "since I'm in this bekary I may try it's bread as well" = That's how they get us to buy their bread
LOL!
I'd be suspicious of the hard and fleshy feeling French bread.
I wonder if they sell some apple pie with strategic holes in it. :P Steaming, hot and fluffy bread for your pleasure... eat it or... whatever.
The street next to my house is named Eromanga! I live in Brisbane/Australia for those interested
Sorry to double post but no it's not shopped, if that's what you're thinking, despite how much I thought it was, I sorta wish I lived there
Glad that could be clearified.
interesting^^
Gonna have to get me some eromanga bread now after being cooped up in a hotel room with several other people... What? I'm hungry!
Read ero manga while you eat bread baked with ero pheromones? O_o
What's next? Oppaijiji? XD
Haha that is an awesome name :p
Haha that's hilarious XD
Yeah it's located on pen island >.>"
That store is VERY misleading.
goals: 1. Create random store 2. Give it a name the would be hilarious to japanese people 3. advertise 4. buy small island 5. get knockout gas Results: Mini Japan
oh man, thats just funny
They sell donuts and bagels? Skip the bagels; They have too much yeast.
haha coincidence X3
Eromanga is also the name of a town in Australia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eromanga,_Queensland as well as subgroup of languages from Vanuatu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erromanga_languages I wish I could speak the language of Ero-manga, then I wouldn't have to wait for scanlates of H-doujins!
I read that post last year...Funny name but good taste. Why is that name of bakery?
MMMMMM, ero bread. It's got all the ingredients you need for a healthy dolphin. ^_^
MMMmmmmm... Bread... Used to pass by a French bakery on the way to work. The smell of freshly baked croissant is truly a pleasant thing.
LOL! That's a cool name for a bread store~~~
If i go to Japan i would bring the bread with the bag and said "hey, do you want eromanga" to some Japanese and see what their reaction.
LOL Its just a coincidence.. XD
ダニーさん、「エロマンガ」が「ロマンガ」になってますよ! Erromango Island of Vanuatu is famous in Japan, because this sounds like...^_^; Anyway, nice bakery!
oh, 同じ事書いてる人やっぱりいたw エロマンガ島は有名だよねw
LoL
LOL!! What a coincidence... a nice name for a bread store ^^
I wonder if they sell erodonuts?
so would ero bread be kinda like a dickerdoodle? ^^;
I have a new favorite bakery now.
Not related at all but just read this. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/05/manga-porn/
I've been to the place many times and once asked the lady behind the counter what's with the name. Her answer was that when they were deciding the name for the store they just randomly picked a name of some random island, which happend to be called Eromanga, thus leaving no real connections with japanese language.
what could be the meaning of it in finland?
i bet if they use the name "ero bread", the sell would be rocketing....but only can-speak-japanese only people will buy it. with a big smile in their face, holding their laugh. :P
I heard this from my friend and I will try to explain it to you. :P In Finland we have word "hanavesi" what comes from words "hana" meaning "tap" and "vesi" meaning "water". When we start playing with words we can have funny coincidences. In japanese we also have word "hana" meaning nose and word "mizu" meaning water. Let's start: "Hanavesi" ---> Tap water "Hanavesi" ---> はなvesi (now we changed finnish word hana(=tap) to japanese word "hana"(=nose) "はなvesi" ----> はなみず (and now we change finnish word vesi(=water) to japanese word "mizu" ...and now we get word はなみず "hanamizu" and what I have heard it means snot. Is that true? I hope you understand my bad explanation and catch the joke. :P
HAHAHA thats soo funny. I wonder if they know what it means.
Dejavu much... Why do I remember this..... And lol. Erobread. Poor unsuspecting bakers lol.
i think i should open a restaurant by the name of EROGAME someday in the future..
Oh haha!:D Didn't know about that place
what a downer - they gave it that name but don't provide the dough, if you know what i mean there's a town in Australia called 'Erom Anga'... you can probably see where this is going...
too bad at the eromanga been only a normal bakery. Though Do wonder how will a real eromanga bakery would be like ?
Haha ^^
haha. i need to visit that cafe someday :D
you should never judge a book by its cover
lol!
Seems like somebody's Google search for eromanga failed... -___-
Good find! My first laugh of the day!
How much are their buns?
ROFL haha that was too funny man
I see what you did there. XD
I'm finnish and I have never heard of Eromanga Oy. A MUST VISIT^^ And it's just about 200 km away.
Hahaha, always funny, those little language shenanigans.
now that's funny as hell.
Been there a few times for some quick breakfast :P Great place ;) The name has been a matter of discussion before in some Finnish imageboards :P
Haha. Ecchi bread anyone?
Lol. Erromango Island is well-known in Japan.
Thats hilarious.
I lol'd! That's a silly coincidence, like someone named Randy Rogers or something... :P
Saw this a long while back...funny how no one there questioned it yet...
I want to see the actual bread that's made but I can't find it on the site. >_<
Must be famous bakery for Japanese tourist! Take 2 pay 1 (:) :P
Seems like something that would show up as a gag in Yakitate Ja-pan! "I am from EroManga and I have come to challenge your best baker at Pantasia!" I can see an episode like that.
Can eromanga put in public place? Can age under 18 get in eromanga? And we know the answer now...YES!!!
I should visit sometime ^^
I'm sure they sell pies regardless.~
maybe eromanga means something over there
I linked it to my friend. He replied: " I thought that it's some hentai stuff. ^^ Very funny." I thought two times before click :D
I can just imagine some otaku walking past the place and doing a double-take at the sign. I've seen a few cross-language coincidences before, but this one is just priceless!
its a ninja nonsense reference :P
lol. awesome. Must have good bread =d
I would charge this bakery on misleading propaganda. :P
It would be funny if I said, "I want to go eat some EroManga tonight!".
Lol that so fun ^_^, I bet soo many Japanese people will be cracking up from seeing this
Mmm sounds delicious! I'll take some, please! :D
I would like to have some ero please.. I will order a Louise bread
thats cool but kinda freaky.
I tot that place sell ero-doujin mangas.
Is this their marketing strategy to attract Japanese customers? this is just too wrong man.. :p
you don't know what he's done with the bread!!!! it might not be accidental!!
man i'm hungry now
what does ero mea
what does ero mean?
Well, basically, it's a contraction of an English adjective, used to descr... Oh, I see what you did there.
This bakery is an IRL trap.
OMG LOL
I have to go and visit that place. Just because of the name. xD
