Many users write in and tell me that the column on the far right is pushed to the bottom of the page. Here is a screenshot of my IE6 and IE7 which I use for testing the site - both running on Windows XP English. Not broken on my end so cant fix what does not seem to be broke. Are there any IE users out there with a broken right column? BTW, My default browser is Firefox 2 on a Mac. Non IE users would have found this post boring so heres a video below to entertain your fancy.
IE sucks so much it should be a porn star. Anybody that uses Windows or Linux should use Firefox
Yea I just switched to firefox 2 mo ago the ease really gets to me...btw what browser do u use danny? Do you test AND use IE7?
hehe test WITH...
Me use FF Mac. Need IE for testing orz.

IE6?? IE7?? what is that? sounds like a clumsy web browser with poor options and creapy performance XD firefox 4 life!
a simple solution for this problem is to get firefox. ('~')
Amen.
I have IE and dont have a problem. Never have.
faia fokkusu banzai!!! its the best browser..with loads of add-ons and themes that make your browser more kawayusu..and best of all Dannychoo.com runs as its meant to be on it.
and about the Aki Hoshino video... it has a very nice, wonderful "scenery". The "mountains" as so lustful...i mean lushful..
LOL
The "lumps" of the "mountains" are beautiful indeed! xD
sorry what was this post all about? kinda got distracted with the video...
All worship Firefox-tan!
Or rather Firefox-ko.
Wow! Out of all these comments I'm about to give the first straight answer. Working fine on IE7 with Windows XP. No problems that I can see. Do I get a cookie or somethin? I enjoyed the video anyways. That girl got nice eyes, but her head is in the clouds.
Yes - cookies are automatically set when you are logged in.
i think what FatB meant was a real cookie. right?
i'll love a cookie everytime i visit your site too danny, goes well with milk. ('~')
lol, come on Danny! That was one mean computer joke you pulled right there... just give the poor guy an oreo! ^^ Actually, since I have IE7 on XP and the right section also looks just fine, I think we both deserve a cookie, pretty please? ^o^
wat cookies?? i wan japanese f-cup cookies..do dannychoo.com give them away for free?
Ok, this is going to be a huge comment, but now I really earned my cookie Danny!!! ^^
Being a web developer I thought that the problem was caused by a long text inside the right column's DIV, probably the user's name, so I made a few tests and managed to reproduce the error:
First off, my user name is Darsel, which is quite a short word, so using Nikhil's Web Development Helper (a pretty nice tool for Web Developers, right besides the IE Developer Toolbar) I created a simple javascript that changed my user name in the DOM (no server hacking involved obviously, just in case someone is wondering, it's just editing the HTML that the browser holds) and replaced it with a long word.
This is the script just in case Danny or anybody else wants to try it (hope it looks good once I submit the comment ^^´):
var tags = document.getElementsByTagName('DIV');
for(i=0;i
Just how I imagined, it was too long, here is the rest:
var tags = document.getElementsByTagName('DIV');
for(i=0;i
ok, now I'm just feeling stupid! ^^´ Sorry about that... I guess that the "lesser than" or however it's called symbol gets recognized as xml or something and then gets everything after it removed :( So, making it shorter: These guys must have a very long user name or something similar that's making the DIV's width to go mad and pushing it down. Since I can't post the javascript to test it, just find the DIV right below your avatar and change your name to something really long without spaces and you'll see the DIV go deep down. Of course, since usually my job is not to only find the problem, but to fix it too, you can solve this by simply adding the wordWrap property to the gentext class and filling it with 'break-word' (obviously after testing it on Firefox, since I don't know how it behaves there). I also had javascript code to test that, but I guess I just wasted my tme :'( That's it Danny, please make my cookie a vegan one... Hope this helps!
nice work detective Darsel. ('~')
@Darsel: Intersting... I will take a look at Nikhil's Web Development Helper.
But alas everyone behold the power of Opera!!!!!!!
I like how she's lying on the floor of some random garage, posing.
look this. http://browsershots.org/ test your web design in different browsers.
i use safari, and ya, comments are cut off on right sometimes. But it seems firefox is working ok.
That's interesting. I have this problem with IE 6 Mobile. Which version of Safari are you using? What OS are you running?
Why not Lolifox? :P FF2 user here too... but I also have Opera installed. Opera is nice, lighter... but lacks plugins. Internet Explorer... well, let's say I don't even have it's permissions set correctly on my firewall. That's how much I use it. :P Also: I can't believe that model is 2 years older than myself.
lolifox FTW!!
I never experience that before on danny's website... probably it is caused by the low connection speed. I only have the problem that cannot see the advertisement here, my network provider blocked them all.....
Post more of these IE CSS Hacks videos. Holy momma eyes ^^;
Works fine with fully updated IE and VISTA. I tried adjusting privacy/security settings within IE also. No major changes.
i don't know have problem although i using IE. I browse this site using FF, so .... use IE super slow to load the page, that y i using FF.
This web site works just fine with IE7. Never had any problems.
Tested with IE 6.0.2900.2180 ^o^ i had to hit F5 a few times since at first the data flood (lol?) did seems to kill the IE, it did smeer the pictures and text when i started to scrool... but after 3-4 times refresh it did work fine. Didn't see any wrong colum settings compared to when i usualy browse your site with FireFox. Maybe have the members with the problems send in screenshots? =)
Once you go Opera, you never go back. True story.
I also noticed this IE glitch today and made a screenshot. http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dannychooie7siteproblemuy8.jpg In contrast to Darsel's theory I was not logged in at that time, so it may not be caused by a too long user name. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce this bug. But thx for this sweet Aki video ^_^
Nice pics Shin-Kenji, I only wished that you could have taken more of them so we could find out what causes this problem... Something that can cause it is a long user name, but since you were not logged in, I can only think of the other "dynamic" content on that DIV, and that's the featured feeds section... but if that was the real cause, everyone would have the same problem at the same time, and it would be really easy to reproduce, but it isn't º~º This is getting more and more complicated...
Thanks for looking into this everybody. Image seems to be unavailable at the moment.
Yes we all have our favorite browsers. I use Safari 3 and Firefox 2 under Leopard. Take a look at this and you will see why this news item is here. http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp I just checked with IE 6 and 7 and didn't see any problem. Given what Darsel said I shouldn't since I have a short user name. Going back to my corner and my moody state of mind. ^^;
Im using firefox and everything seems fine. *plays the video* Are those actually real? o.0 so huge
personally i always use FF because its godness compared to IE. But when im at a place where they dont have FF but use IE the site is a bitch to load >.
Hmm... I also have no problem with my IE7 when opening this site.... IE7 doesn't look so bad to me. I use both IE7 and Firefox, because several websites are better viewed with IE.
I have never in my 3 year career of web and graphics design ever had to use CSS hacks for IE. Yes, IE doesn't follow standards all that closely, but if you know what works and what doesn't in IE you can easily code a site to work fine on both browsers. The only thing I've really had to be at all careful about is how IE renders margins compared to other browser. IE likes to overlap nearby objects...so I just put that container inside another with 0 margin and 0 padding. Then it renders exactly the same in all browsers.
