Not a good idea to leave the hardware uncovered like that, gathers a lot of dust and possible fire hazard. Still, I respect this fellow artist. I personally am running dual monitors and have a similar setup.
i'm positive an enthusiast like that would clean off his hardware preventing from anything happening, most of the time leaving it uncovered provides better cooling anyways

agreed, good flatscreen monitors aren't really that expensive anymore.
got 2 25 inch LCD's for $150 USD each. Friends GF got 2 28 inch ones for $200 USD each.
Maybe he doesn't want to settle for an LCD when a superior CRT is cheaper.
CRT's can't be considered more superior if they harm your eyes faster than you can say "orz.

Yep... I've seen this some time ago. Must add that this is kinda old. Would really like to see an update... I mean, if the guy has the money, today he probably has a dual or tripple LCD setup, with some external drives or something like DROBO lying around. Still nice though, even for today's standard.
one word: Useless Not only is there probably enough memory there for the whole world to share, He is taking SUCH a huge change leaving everything exposed. Looks cool, but (since he obviously has enough money) he should invest in some sort of clear acrylic casing to protect everything...

what you say is true, i have found that CRT is superior to LCD when it comes to CG. but LCDs are better on the eyes.

Unfortunately I'm not made of money, and that is why I don't have Cintiq. But if I did have that much money, I would most likely invest it into otaku related stuff. Turn over rate for technology is too high D:

Even though i have seen this picture already like 2-3 years ago being posted in the #armitunes IRC chat, it still does make me stare at it... i just love when the lights go blink blink and the techy stuff shows. Instead of more Moe processing power, I need more Moe storage power. My 6 HDDs with 1,750GB isn't enough to support all the Moe off the internet!!

I've seen some fairly large computer setups in my time, but that's just ridiculous. That being said, I would prefer Al Gore's computer setup to this one. :3
