Hmmm... I'd have to say season one looks best.
nah never watched it because it looked a bit lame. and + i have many animes and mangas to watch so i pretty much didnt care about this one. is it any good?
I say season 2 one looks good. But then again you have to take into consideration the time it was released. I mean its like comparing the animation of AIR to the latest Kanon or CLANNAD
But you can clearly see how the art has changed, the eyes looks a lot wilder, and they have a chibi look...i liked more the first season artwise, let's see if season two has an awesome storie as the first one

i'm looking at their eyes(organs) when they have a gun and i hear a voice: yes, look here so that i can kill you. over and over again. *shivers*
I didn't watch it yet... but I can see the style has changed. But I really liked the first season. Not only because of the artstyle, but because of the heavier atmosphere... more dramatic tone. Different from the usual. Much like Noir. I won't judge the second season just yet though... it's like comparing Kenshin OVA and TV series... or the different .hack animes...
1st season look better IMO 2nd season look like "servisu" anime though i know it's not

Season one is more original IMO. It doesn't follow the ever popular "large adorable eyes" that most anime currently produce. Large eyes.. it's too cute. Sometimes we wanna watch anime and not the eyes. Of course it's all about the eyes in the end isn't it? Off topic: anyone catch ep 13 of CLANNAD yet? I'm on it now.. (-.-')
The character design of animation season 1 looks exactly like the manga, and I love the manga art. I wonder why they change the character design, because the newer one doesn't feel like Gunslinger Girl. Maybe they change the production house like Minami-ke and Minami-ke Okawari?
season two has a moe feel to it

haven't seen it yet but if it's still has the "loli with guns" theme then it's sold. Anyone else know of any good killer loli anime coming out?

season 1 looks better i think the chracters just look better.. the gun doesnt look as good either, maybe the rest will look ok. i was watching season 1on dvd recently and i forgot how good it was. cant wait for fansubs ;)
A change in character design for a new season is little to be worried about. I think the new designs are refreshing. Aslong as S2 keeps intact all the elements that made S1 good, it'll be fine.
Season one looks better to me. It feels closer to Yu Aida's style on the manga, and the characters look much more serious compared to the second season, which befits the mood of the story. The bright coloring and strange proportions of the second season looks out of place to me. I haven't heard the music yet, so I can't compare that.
The animation looks like it might take away from the more serious tone of the anime, but it otherwise looks good, just not exactly appropriate to the mood.
The action sequences are quite attractive - but the character designs are horrendous - especially the lack of detail - just look at the the amount of hair detail they put into the old one - and shadows on their faces! Also - the characters' personality don't even match: Henrietta's and Jose's being the most prominent.

Big difference there. Will have to wait and see if the story is enough. The animation of the first series was part of what made it such a pleasure to watch.
I don't ever remember the main character ever smiling.
i like season 1 but haven't watch season 2 yet (still waiting for fansubs). season 2 is done by a different animation studio and some of my mates who watched it says the art style is inferior and Henrietta doesn't sound like the shy girl we see in season 1. most of them are disappointed. :-(
It looks like they tried to make the girls more moe to whore them out to the otaku.
=( And i was so looking forward to the 2nd season. Whoever changed the art style has let down alot of people. So much for the loli with guns theme becoming to a moe with guns theme.
My fansub group just released the first episode on baka-updates.com We tried our best at it but there might be some mistakes. Enjoy :)

Just finish watching the fist episode of second season. Seem that season 2 have more focus put onto the moe side of the characters^^
Where are my emo lolis with guns? I want them back now :(. Season One's art style is certainly more suprerior than season 2. However I can say that the OP and ED song the second one is quite good though. Does anyone notice a shorter P90?
after you mentioned it...yes... I think the scale of the weapon and the hand of the girls are not quite valid, not like in the first season where the guns are drawn beautifully and accurately...speaking about the scale on a child's hand...it's big... season 2 should've been worked by the same studio as the first season(was it madhouse?) like "minami ke - okawari", the first season's artwork were indeed very decent, although the okawari also shares a decent artwork but the drawing style of season one still OWNS season one FTW ^^
if code name: pinocchio in it, i will watch it, regardless of moe blob always want to see pinocchio in action read the manga for this pinocchio guy reference
the work for th art in season 2 looks crappy IMHO, and AFAIK the voice actor/seiyu are different too that's a double minus thingie but still, it is about adolescent girls so I can be forgiving.... ^^
The young girls look somewhat less impressive artwork-wise in season 2... Dunno for the rest, never watched the series.
Well, watched both. Season 2 feels wrong to me. Voices are different, eyes scare the crud out of me, and some character design is eck. Rico just doesn't look good, for one. Can't stand Henrietta's new voice, it's too different. I'll still watch it though.
although both havent watch also, but i like the season 1 drawing more.
gunslinger girl!, ah... one of my favorite anime's. well i have to agree that season 1 looks better, but am going to get season two and see if the plot and storyline are as good as one. and just to add, henrietta was my favorite from the show.
The animation of the 1 season by Mad House was great the new one by Artland is no special at all, there are tons of animes with that kind of animation. Furthermore the voices are not the same they are using different seiyuus, too bad.
just watched the 1st eps... and it was crap indeed. the BGM sucks a lot, doesn't show or give out the italy-aura and by the way, did gunslinger girl just changed it's setting to japan?cause most of the character in the anime are drawn to look like japanese char-type. do you know what I mean? and the V.A./seiyu...it's just not them. jose's voice is not heavy enough like it was in S1, etta's voice is not very convincing at all the action stuff is not well animated as the S1 was. the weapons were like what I thought, not so detail. but still, I like to watch it ^^ there are some scenes I like too... 2nd eps should be interesting ^^

I think season one's art style is way suprerior to the 2nd one, so currently I am just watching it for the plot. The girls certainly look more moe though, must be an attempt to target a wider audience. Also the gun details seem to have drop or the sizes doesnt really match up now. I was quite sure the P90 was suppose to be larger, but some may argue that it was the smaller version of the P90 the P90 Cyprus I think
no! the nonMoe aspect helped it to stand out! its just like the others now... sigh..
