When I saw the photos in Michaels post I thought it was either from a film or some space research control room. Its actually Tokyo Traffic control where they monitor the traffic. Traffic jam information is broadcasted (which my car navigation receives) and they can also control the traffic lights etc etc.
Wow. Malaysia needs something like that! Traffic jams are getting caused by weird traffic lights that go green for a few seconds, and then turn red for a few minutes.
But if we did, wouldn't that cause a rise in our unemployment rate? (You know, those good for nothing traffic polices?) >_
isnt malaysia will be implementing this like this year? It was in the paper last year about cat eyes something to be installed at traffic lights/major roads etc
@Guarayakha - LOL. Come to think of it, that's pretty true XD @e-jump - It was? Never read about that, then. If it's true, then we MIGHT see a rise in our unemployment rate soon (lol). That is- if the government actually takes action soon (if ever).
@Chong : Well, It wont too soon I believe. At least after election. With this system, at least theres a reason to get GPS-navi system when go roaming in KL
Oh god, it looks like a computer circuit board.
It looks like my office... in my evil underground lair. The lair isnt evil, just malcontent, but that doesnt sound right. I like those huge screens they have that shows all the traffic cam circuits, so they can monitor traffic flow.
Wow pretty amazing :o and very useful, is it?
We have a similar thing in the company I work for. They control our power grid with it. (I'm working for an electricity company) P.S.: Sorry for my terrible English.
*sarcastically* yeah, that was the worst english i have seen. Actually better than some of mine, heh. I know San Antonio sure could use one of those. If we do it really doesn't show....
@Sinless, dont feel bad, I dont type english very well either. You write it better than most Americans I know.
Heh, looks like a map I'd expect to see in a strategy game. I've never really gave it much thought, but how many major cities use a similar system in Japan or otherwise?
The guy there is playing Sim City, don't be fooled xDDDD
Hahahaha xD you're right! :P

Singapore uses ERP, Electronic Road Pricing, to control the traffic. Heard that in the future, the worse the traffic, the more you pay! Bloodsuckers....
With the amount of traffic we have now in Singapore and how the drivers are going about on the road nowadays, they probably need one of these for every district out there. Not worth it.
I wonder how much a screen of that size would cost me... Imagine, watching anime/films with that screen.. ^_^
yea. And in the pic, it looks like they have 3 of it.
It would be great, but you would have to sit so far away it would even out. Everything would look like crap up close, but clean from far away. I guess it doesnt matter when you are watching traffic.
Dragun, I saw an 100+ inch (I think it was 103 inch) full HD LCD TV in terminal 2 of Changi airport, Singapore, during my transit. And, it looks absolutely brilliant even up-close, I am pretty sure I couldn't notice any blurring ^_^ Only that I can't see the whole image if I watch the TV too closely. ^_^ What I want to say is that, as long as a screen has high resolution, having large size really shouldn't cause blurring (even if seen up-close).
Thats true in some cases I guess, But there is an optimal viewing formula to watching large screens and being able to actually see what is happening (like if you sit in the front row in the movie theater... gets blurry and hard to follow action scenes). Im sure as technology progresses this will be less of a problem, and we will all mercilessly destroy our eyesight. Oh, and do I need a philips head to steal that screen? Or a plasma cutter?
not like indonesia, to be like that need more time thousand year again
hell, we break through even it is red(the bus)
damn!! that looks really big and kind of complicated
Be damned ......what A SCREEN....back at our facility ( metro/bus/tramway-traffic control ) we just have only an old synopsis wall...the one with little blinking light dots an painted tracks on a huge vinyl board....I'm green of jalousy.....would love to visit a place like that :)
when u go to indonesia, u'll be suprised....
That's pretty cool, I think I would like that job. Can I sit? yes. Can I press buttons? yes! It's perfect for me. :P
Wow, at first I thought it was a live-action of the anime "Ex-Driver"...
i think we have a similar system but it is only being used for the main express highway going out of the metro... but i doubt even if we have the same system here, some drivers here doesn't have any discipline at all >.>
that's just damn cool O_o
I think every country could use one of those
This guy must have a great sense of vision, simultaneous target observation and analysis and concentration. "Launch!", "Enemies approaching!" and "Retreat!" pop into my mind as I see it. ^^
Wow. If you can tap into that. You'll never have to wait for a red light again in Tokyo...
