Tokyo Train Map

Tokyo Train Map
This is the reason why you don't really need a car in Tokyo - stations everywhere.

Folks who are traveling or live in Tokyo may want this map - get it here. If you have firefox then install the screengrab extension to save the image as its in pieces.
Ah - Japanese version here.

Singapore IS truly nothing.
So much for a "world-class" transportation which always have fare hikes...

Yeah, on a glimpse it looks like a labyrinth.

I remember something from Ai Yori Aoshi, Aoi Sakuraba got confused when she was in a train station, because she came from countryside.

On the contrary, the map is intimidating, but train travel is super efficient once you see it for real. It's hard to get lost cause there are so many stations around you'll always know where you are.

the trains(mrt = mass rapid transportation, all should be called by this) in singapore are easy to navigate but it's really confusing on the stations especially in the interchange @_@

Current on Day 11 of my Japan trip, and really Singapore SMRT is nothing compared to the rail system in Japan. It's so easy to navigate and the timings are really accurate, especially for the Limited Express and Shinkansen. Anywhere can be accessed by train/subway, at most a 15mins walk to a destination.
Though due to the fact that I'm using a JR Rail pass, I tend to walk more instead of using the subway if it's like only 1-2 stops away.

If you plan your relocations a bit ahead with a map like this, it's not that difficult. And one thing to remember: the Yamanote Line. It's a circle line through all the big parts of Tokyo and all other trains/subways somehow connect to it. And there's a train every 2-3 minutes in both directions.

Looks exactly like the train map my city has, only waaaay bigger.

I don't think it's that difficult to find your train/station, it may take a few minutes but I guess it's doable ^^

Gotta know where you're going and prepare your itinary much in advance... At least Japan has a nice territorial coverage in terms of public transportation.
And good luck if you have to look for a precise station when you don't know the train lines at all. ^^;

I wish my country have that kind of public transport. Man, traffic jam is a routine here. 2 hours driving to school everyday is tiring (w/o traffic jam, i only need 30 minutes or so). ;-;
