Batman Dark Knight

Batman Dark Knight
Trailer 2 for the next Batman film due out next Summer.
Any looking forward to this one? I didn't get into the last one and prefer the older ones - Val Kilmer really suited the role of Batman IMHO.

Er, do you count "Batman Forever" on your list, Danny. Give the new one a chance. It's actually closer to the source material than the older movies. Christian Bale did a really good job, 'cause Bats really does have lots of issues to solve.

In case you don't remember, he's also the kid from Empire of the Sun, another great movie.

I think the problem is that so far we've only been getting Bruce Wayne movies and not Batman movies. Michael Keaton was great as "the millionaire playboy" but he and his successors were hardly "the Dark Knight." The current films are doing a much better job balancing the duality... Christian Bale's "Batman" is badass!

Agreed, the previous Batman movies showed a lot of rich-playboy Bruce Wayne whilst Christian Bale portraied a more true to the comics Bruce Wayne, more "Dark-Knightish" i guess.

My way of looking at it is, the two first movies by Tim Burton are, well, Tim Burton-ish. Colorful, very psychotic feel to the villains.

Then came Joel Schumacher... Pretty much overkill... I guess he tried to get more cartoon-like colors and we got a whole lot more than that... Plus, the casts were to over-the-top, too many celebs.

Now, with Chris Nolan, Batman got a lot more sober, more serious, really dark like it should. I've only seen a few screens of Heath Ledger's Joker but he seems much scarier than Jabk Nicholson's.

Just my opinion. Cheers

Reading the posts here, I think that most people's perceptions of Batman's character stems from the movies and cartoons, not from the comics.

Sorry, but Val Kilmer sucked big time! Those movies were just candy! Too bright, laughable storylines and don't talk about the actors ;)

Batman Begins rocked and i can't wait for the second installment ^^

I disagree completely. (nothing personal) Val Kilmer and Chris O'Donnell's version was the first time Batman and Robin's motives to crime fighting were first explained - in a psychologist's (Chase Meridian's) perspective, which is what I love the most about that movie.

I miss watching Jim Carrey's freako dance while he was refining The Box. Should have more of those... ^_^

Are you kidding me? C'mon! The storylines were so soft I ended up feeling sorry for villains like The Penguin!! (My favourite Danny DeVito performance)

The previous movies were too candy-ass! Period. Tim Burton's movies were mildly acceptable. Joel Schumacher's WERE NOT!

Val Kilmer was a terrible Batman and so were the batman films he stared in.
Michael Keaton was a better Batman for crying out loud.
I really miss the dark gothic look Tim Burton put on the first films.

I'll admit one thing. The Batman Returns soundtrack was awesome. I loved the "gothic" feel you're describing too!

I did appreciate the old Batman movies, mostly because they changed villains all the time... I was asking myself "Which evil one will they take this time?".

Now they only focus on the Joker, the most famous and obviously the most charismatic one (As for myself, I can't stand that guy, lacks some credibility to me).

Hope the storyline will be good enough.

I think you will appreciate the Joker in this movie (if Heath Ledger Doesnt mess it up). The best part about joker, was he was bat-shit crazy (no pun intended). He was unpredictable at best, and a card carrying psychopath. Who goes up against batman with knives and pocket lint and holds his own? Joker. BooF**king-ya.

i like tim burton's batman 1 and 2 especially 2 as the penguin's story is kinda sad and touching.

i'm glad that christopher nolan did a great job in reviving the batman franchise. i love batman begins as well. very strong cast in gary oldman, morgan freeman and michael caine. christian bale is great too. will be looking forward to the dark knight. ^^;

Didn't think that batman begins was all that. For me, the definitive movie with the first one by Tim Burton. Great batman in Michael Keaton (but lousy bruce wayne) and a near perfect Joker.

Kilmer did a good bruce wayne but a terrible batman. Clooney, well, umm... Yeah.

Bale does a pretty decent bit of both but he can't match the batman of keaton or the wayne of kilmer.

But it's all irrelevant because, if I could only watch one superhero movie next summer it would be without a doubt, hands down, IRON MAN!!!!
Robert downey jr playing an alcoholic playboy? he doesn't even need to act!!

Saw this before I Am Legend came on, its a lot more intense when you're in the theaters!

I do love the new Batman series, they did the right thing in Batman Begins by exploring his character and background. The plot was great, not focusing too much on one villain.

Hopefully this one with the Joker will not disappoint. Don't really like the motorcycle look but the scene where hes riding around the Joker looks pretty spectacular.

I'm really not digging this new Joker. Jack Nickelson did a much much better Joker, and really had the face down. Well at least based on this trailer anyway. I'd have to actually watch the movie before I gave my final opinion.

If anyone would like to give this and other trailers, a download, then visit this website. It's pretty good.

Anyway, judging from the trailer I feel that Heath Ledger's incredible performance as the Joker will be what steals the entire show. I think he may even surpass Jack Nicholson. So far, I'm liking Ledger more.

"WHY SO SERIOUS?"

lol.

Val Kilmer?! Oh boy...

The two Joel Schumacher-directed films suffered from... well, a lot of stuff. Mainly, they were based more on the old, campy television series than the comic book. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the Tim Burton films, either. Batman Begins is the closest I've seen to a faithful live-action Batman film.

I've seen a lot of footage from the upcoming film and was in the studio while the sculptors were working on the action figures from the movie (so I got to see some spoilers, but I've gotta keep my mouth shut)... The film should definitely be interesting. I'm not sure if I like what they've done with the Joker, but I'll give Heath Ledger a chance to pull it off. I understand them not wanting to copy the Jack Nicholson Joker, but I fear they have have deviated a bit too much from the original character. We shall see.

One thing that seems to be irking people is the new Batman costume. It looks a lot more high-tech than the first suit, and a lot of people just don't like that. We already had the armored Batmen in Forever and B&R, so I think a lot of American comic book readers and just general fans of Batman would like to see a stripped-down, bare-bones Batman -- something akin to "Batman - Dead End."

Here's the link for that:

I LOVED Batman Begins. It's the best Batman movie for me. It's very realistic and isn't comical. It also shows that Batman really is just a human with excellent training, discipline, and technological resources. The other Batman films are just plain BAD. I liked the Keaton/Buron films though.....

Sit yourself down Danny, and slap yourself silly for undermining Christian Bale's performance as batman. I'll agree with everyone else when they say Christian Bale better suits the roll of the Dark Knight. Honestly, Batman Begins did more for me than any other super hero movie that came out for quite some time. The last good one I saw before that was V for Vendetta. Put on your "To watch list Danny" and prepare to be amazed ;)
