Pokemon Pikachu

Pokemon Pikachu
A festive decoration spotted by TokyoTimes.
How many of you out there who follow the Pokemon series?
I remember watching a few dubbed ones while on business trips to the US and Korea - occasionally leave it on when its on TV.

And I thought the English version was bad.

I found the german opening horrible as well... http://youtube.com/watch?v=_MCOZqqcAns

I didn't like the series because it was always the same: Ash travels from arena to arena -> "Oh noes! it's Team Rocket!" -> Team Rocket loses -> Ash wins the arena fight -> ending

@Tempest, I completely agree with you. I just couldnt watch the show, I mean.. Its the same plot line over and over and over. I think it was geared at kids a younger than I was when it came out.

@D_Blade, Im sure it was cheaper to do it this way then come up with an original idea. Kind of like how we re-do movies over here all the time instead of coming up with new ideas.

Also, its by Pixar!"... They keep re-naming other movies and making them again.. Gone in 60 seconds, I am legend, Oceans Eleven, War of the worlds, Insert any movie name here.

Don't forget the remastered versions of the Star Wars original trilogy. Original, THX, sold separately, in pack, in a spiffy newer pack, in the super duper new pack and surely last with the second trilogy.
Maybe in HD or Blu-Ray next.

I stopped watching a while ago, its just one of those never ending animes that get annoying and the plot is the same over and over again. Catch pokemon, defeat team rocket, save pokemon, become friends with everyone, beat gym leaders, etc.

Memories...

I was Pokecrazy when i was a kid, And would spend like ten dollars on an imported pack of pokemon cards from Japan. I owned about a thousand cards, and knew all 150(original)Pokemon. I had memorized the entire first season.

Now, I can only recall about 2 dozen names and no longer have any of the cards.

But yeah, I'm very fond of Pikachu there.

It's not hard to remember. They only said it several times each and every single episode. I still remember it from when I watched it as a kid. I'll probably never forget it either. It's one of those things that gets permanently etched in your mind and then 40 years down the road you sit there wondering where this stupid catch phrase thats stuck in your mind came from.

I liked the first season on Pokémon because it was original back then. It has then lost its luster with all those seemingly similar games and seasons of the TV show.

Pokemon had potential, but they lost their chance to rule the world. Over the first few years, they were the craze which I didn't join in until they began their decline. I'm actually a veteran player in the card game and scored top 8 in the world championships a few years ago. They offer scholarships and other merchandise to the winners, so it was well worth it. I retired last year, and never learned the 4th season. Some people think it's a big deal to memorize all their names, but it's really not when you spend a good amount of time playing the gameboy games. Anyway, it's a so and so attraction nowadays in the States. Anyway, I said too much already.

u know, church, religion, whatever, hate something when that something make their follower doesn't follow them anymore and instead follow the something

church are business too, u need follower to get money, to get fame, and pretty much a religion is nothing without follower's

when they ran out of idea to make the follower stay, they blame the something as the devil/satan

oh... how religious have rotten.
that's why i don't go to church but still believe in god and myself

Reminds me of the South Park episode where the Chimpokemon are actually a secret plot by Japan to take over the United States. They dispell all worries by parents that this is possible by having Japanese women compliment the US on their "Rarge penis".. while also saying how small the Japanese mans penis is. This, of course, is all the US guys need to hear and they dont suspect anything.

After all the negative things we can say about the series, you have concede that it was a PHENOMENON. It that sense it was well done because it hit its target audience on the mark, namely kids who can bed and plead with puppy-dog eyes for their parents to buy them the merchandise.

Personally I thought Digimon had more of a story, and was not as insulting to older viewers. :)

At least Digimon had a "save the world theme" to it. Tamers was cool. Pokemon, however, bears more resemblence to Medabots; and that had a "save the world theme" too.

But it WAS a phenomenom. I still have friends here who play Blue and Red versions on the Visualboy Advance, and thats not counting the other versions.

Great find! However it seems all your links refer to the same page.
You earned your fair share of kudos.

After playing the last new versions Sapphire and Pearl, I think i'm going to stop playing Pokemon. I probably have grown out of it. Haha! Will focus more on other things. Not much of a gamer anymore.

But doesnt this really bring back memories? I can still remember the scene where Pikachu was chatting with Caterpie in the Viridian Forest back in the 1st season.

Back then, I was still a kid too, getting pokemon cards if my grades were good, LOL. Man, Charizard used to be the most imbalanced card back then.. The good old days~~
