More like a westerner face!

I second this, having played DOA 4. I think what gives her the "westerner feel" is her lips and eyes? i can't exactly put my finger on it though...

on a lighter tone: WHY ARN'T THERE ANY FIGURES OF NICOLE???

....

oh yeah. she's exactly the same as the master chief....

Huh... usually I like Shunya Yamashita figure design. However, I'm not a big fan of this one. Maybe I'm use to Kasumi's anime look, and there are other Kasumi figures I like alot more than this (Max factory).

Looking at the other pictures, it looks like one eye is bigger than the other. Already own the max factory one, so I don't think I'll be splurging on another Kasumi, or at least until my wallet recovers from Christmas shopping.

Huh, usually I don't hold Shunya Yamashita figures in high regard, seeing as how most them look alike, not to mention the drawings that they were based on are random creations.

I'd love to get my hands on a garage kit of her.

I kindve expected as much when I saw the preliminary art on internet stores, good art but cheap price must = this. It's not all that bad though, at least they appear to have cast off.

Good to see that at least another person thinks the same. This Kasumi looks awesome. I prefer her over the original Kasumi.

She looks way more like a ninja in this rendition.

Agreed. Max Factory's was more bang on. For some odd reason, this one resembles Kasumi, but not entirely. I can't put my finger on what, but something looks odd from this picture alone. Perhaps I'm being too much of a perfectionist, but I just can't get over it :(

At first, she was looking pretty awesome, but after a long look at her face, not as much... The sculpt's great, but she looks too much like Shunya's other girls. Not that no other artist has this "problem" mind you.

Yeah, she's pretty but looks like someone other than Kasumi. Still, it's one of the cheaper Kasumi figurines out there right now. You could probably get both versions for one of the Black Max Factory ones. Although that one's the best one, it's the cutest.

Hmm, cute and kinda chubby (MAX), or sleek and sexy (Shunya)? Already have the black MAX version, so I've got my Kasumi fix. I want more Lei-fang and Hitomi though...

To me, just Shunya's name alone doesn't always mean the figure will looks good.

So far I bought and preorder only Shunya+Reflex+Yamato ones.

I'm actually rather fond of Yamashita's work, it's an interesting change from the skinny little schoolgirls one often sees. Though I think I prefer the blue version.

that looks... wrong!!

Strange that Shunya Yamashita can make fantastic looking original kits but when they are based on an existing character, they fall well short. The Rei Ayanami is another good example.

Despite the Dead or alive girls being rendered in 3D in the game, I have yet to find any figure, PVC or resin which depicts any of them accurately. Something is always wrong with them...

Quite odd when you think of how much source material is out there for the makers to use.

I think figure sculptors are like doujinshi artists! Even if some doujinshi don't look exactly like the game Kasumi, people still like them, because they are recognizable as her, and a lot of people prefer certain artists's styles!

I personally think these figures look great for what they are (prize figures), and I like Yamashita Shunya's style! They may not be of the highest detail or quality, but they DO only cost a fraction of what higher grade figures cost! And not only that, it's $30 for two (blue with ponytail + traditional outfit version and white with flowing hair + what I call "summer" outfit version)! I agree though that the degree of detail on the Maxfactory figures are nicely done and it's got quite a sexy pose.

One thing I'm not sure about though, is that a few months back, these were listed as being 18cm tall, along with a price of ~3000 for a set of two (blue kasumi with ponytail + traditional outfit, and white kasumi with flowing hair + sleeveless outfit). However, the ones on the linked tecmo site show them as ~6000 for a set, and are listed as 20cm tall!

In my opinion the face doesn't look so cute. I have two Max Factory Kasumis, and like them much more that this new model. Okay, Max Factory Kasumi's face doesn't look the same as game character's either, but at least it's so cute. Somehow I feel, that I haven't seen a single Kasumi figure, who would have looked just like the original game character. So, probably going to spend my money on some other figure.

I've been checking online for this item, but most places have been sold out. What bothers me is that there seems to be conflicting information regarding the Kasumi prize figure. HobbyFan.com (http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?cPath=377&products_id=5235&osCsid=a729aaceef8d9e537bb500a8b5b24acf&name=Dead+or+Alive&title=Shunya+Yamashita+Collection+-+Dead+or+Alive+Kasumi+PVC+Figure+%28WHITE+ver.%29+Sega+Prize) states that it's 18 cm, and Toyslogic.com (http://www.toyslogic.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1339) states that it's approximately 30 cm. So what's going on?
