who knows? I read somewhere that it's possible to get ice cream in Japan made from human milk and that it should taste somewhat decent. I don't know if it were a joke though. I saw how they make expensive beefs on TV once. The cattle is given sake on a daily basis and they get sake sprayed on their fur. I'm not sure if it really improves the quality that much (specially the spraying on fur thing) but I can imagine that it makes the beef expensive specially because everything was manually done.

oh yeah, Danny, there's something I wanted to ask you about. I got to taste a slice of melon while on Hakone, it tasted so good that I wanted to buy one to take home with me, however when my wife went over to the grocery, the price tag on it was 10,000 yen. suffice to say we didn't get to buy any melons. ^^; I wonder though, are melons really that expensive or did I just went down to the wrong store.

The melon you saw probably had nice "webbing" on the outside. The high-grade melons usually have very uniform criss-cross patterns. You can find some cheaper melons at a normal supermarket and will notice the webbing will be all mashed together - and it will taste virtually the same! But back to the milk. . .I love Japan milk. . .so creamy unlike the non-fat junk that I drink normally.
To gordon, I think its the quality. You can try going down to meidi-ya at Liang Court, look for the grocery department beside the sake section, you can see the difference between the quality of the japan breed and the normal breed just by looking at the surface. Btw, the japan breed costs ard S$80 and the normal one costs abt S$8.

regarding the misconception of girls' milk. female mammals (which includes humans) can only produce milk when they have given births to babies.

Women can actually lactate without giving birth. Sucking on a womans nipples for prolonged periods of time daily will make her lactate eventually. Apparently, the same for men. I know, I know.. my doctor friend told me, but he says its true. I guess its just Hormones.

i wonder what makes it "quality" id consider if the milk was organic but 44 dollars is rediculous i say a fair price for organic "quality" milk should be around 5 bucks.. normal homonogenized milk is only 3 bucks for a gallon (US) 3.785 liters
