Otaku Bashing

(Otaku(59)

日本語/Japanese
Tue 2007/12/11 10:00
I notice that there are quite a few members who sign up here and leave otaku-bashing comments.
While I am aware that the contents of this site need to cater for a wide audience (gundam, figures, japan, idols etc), I would like to urge members to refrain from leaving these types of comments.
I've seen comments like "Love gundam but hate otaku" etc.

Accounts of members who behave like this are flagged and eaten.

BTW, this is a photo of an Otaku's desk (mine) with my freshly arrived Fauna - full cast off review soon!

Personally, I'd start with either A's Nanoha (Excelion Mode Raising Heart) or A's Fate (Zanber Mode Bardiche). Being the lolicon that I am, the StrikerS girls can wait for a while longer...

LOL, I should've thought more carefully before I bought my first figures. Now I just want to sell them because they don't fit my preference. ^^"

Those people mostly come out at night. Mostly. Anyhow I don't pay any attention to those peoples. Like on the field, if someone talks smack, I wait patiently. There's always that chance to lay a smack down on the field and walk away, victorious from battle.

Answer: No. If you didn't notice, it's not often that I comment. Although I do read, but not every single word that everyone says. Just what interests me.

There are more than 200 comments a day so I do miss some. I do try to get to them all.
Am making a new feature that will enable all of us to keep up with all comments - hope to release that this week.

meh, basher's can't do crap... on the contrary. They have enough otakuness in them to actually SIGN UP to your blog, and make otaku bashing comments. He is a bigot. No point worrying about stupidity.

speaking of desk...
my desk is some what otaku, and some what academic. Like, I have all these text book, and then on the top shelf there are my 1/144 Gunpla...

I dont know what there is to bash. I can appreciate all forms of the otaku culture, and think people should be open minded. I dont get to read every comment, but I think people are generally respectful on this site. Unlike going to some other sites.

There's always gonna be haters. We got Honda/import car haters at school. Some are actually pretty chill about it but there are those special few who just talk trash like no tomorrow. That's no problem for me, cause my Honda runs and looks good, and their rustbucket domestic doesn't. That's all I care about.

To be honest. I dont class myself anywhere near Otoku status, but I certainly don't condemn them.
I am in the middle ground - if there is such a thing.
But insulting is very primative, you need to experience some Otoku-ness before jumping to conclusions!

i have great respect for all otaku out there. to you my friend, i bow :D. altho i dont quite quialify as an otaku, i read a lot of manga and watch anime and used to be a hardcore gamer (8+ hours a day v(^ ^)), so i consider myself quite knowledgeable. Being an otaku in a way is my hobby, since i am a Japanophile (it doesnt relater to anything hentai). But i really hate people who hate certain subcultures, however hypocritical and absurd it may be, and i hate prejudice and sorts. And i try to cover as many comments as possible too.

What's so bad about being an otaku anyway? I collect anime figures, watch anime almost religiously, build gunpla, play eroge, watch hentai, read H-doujin, and listen to mostly Japanese music. If that's what makes an otaku, then I'll say it loud and proud..."I'M AN OTAKU!!!". I do all of these and still manage to keep a healthy social life. Just because you partake in otaku activities, doesn't mean you have to be an outcast.

I mean this is an otaku site after all right?? why the hell come here if you intend to bash one??
this is beside the point but as danny stated above, some people comment that they like gundam but hate otaku. well, if you love gundam so much aren't you a gunota already?? i pity those poor fools who are bashing themselves without even realizing it..
*end of rant*

Sadly, the self-hating otaku is a rather common occurrence in American otaku. Especially when there are a few aspects of the culture that don't quite mesh with the values they were raised on. The loli/moe thing in particular just plain squicks some of us.

but the idea is.. if u love anime to a certain extent u can pretty much be called an otaku... -.-"
if u only likeg undam but to a huge extent ur a otaku...
just admit it? lol
otaku is my definition is a basically 1 with great passion toward a thing or things that includes anime, manga, figure, gundam models, and those along the lines. Anythign that japan has come to bless u with... and ur madly in love or spamming it ... ur a otaku lol
and ya i wouldn't mind being called one but the problem is i analyse mroe than i otaku... for now at least lol but i wouldn't like getting beat up because i self-claim otaku in school (although such thing dun exist in my school)

You'll always have these kind of people,
They look no further then the length of their own nose.
Anything they do is good and anything that's just a bit different is wrong.
I have my share of it everyday, since I look a bit alternative.
Mostly they use the dutch word for goth with 'cancer' attached to it =)

I've had a japan-bashing comment on my site. But I always moderate my comments, so it wasn't visible (need to put in some captcha, but haven't got that many comments yet ;p).
But it was 100x the same sentence: "we bombed you japs, go usa!" in caps. What a freak and quite offending.

I haven't seen many bashing-comments on here though, but maybe they were already deleted before I could read them ;p.
