See more pics of the New York Anime Festival here which included a pic of New York's first (?) Maid Cafe? Not sure if thats a proper maid outfit though ^^; Thanks to Jimmie for sending this in.

Nope. Maid cafes are just temporary set ups that I think have just recently been appearing at cons; reason being is that there really isn't a maid cafe here in America that I know of (well, minus the one in Toronto, which has alluded me of its existence up until recently). Anyways, I doubt those girls are even maids. You're right, they certainly don't fit the traditional dress up. My guess is that they're just cosplayers of some sort, but I could be wrong.

Was thinking of going here, but decided to skip and just wait for the next New York Comic Con, since it's bigger, better, and has just about EVERYTHING I like. Not just anime.

I went... took me two hours from my humble little university in neighboring NJ. I was REALLY excited about the maids, but when I got there I was in despair: Where were the maids?! Nope, not there... just overpriced sandwiches. NYAF wasn't too bad, though... just a little (well, a lot) lacking, especially in the maid department. @Katharn/Code: I've yet to find a tobacco spitting country girl in the middle of NYC lol
