The Real Death Note

(Anime(65)

日本語/Japanese

Two students were suspended after writing names of people they wanted dead (obviously) in a Death Note.
So students wont be suspended if the book was called something else?
Thanks to Shin Asuka for sending this in.

lol, when they find out its from an anime, the politicians will have a field day...could this be the start of an anti-anime campaign in the states?

Probably nothing will come of it.  Instead we will just invade Japan and do away with the government.  That's what we do now.  Did I say that?? ^^;

lol,ppl are getting more ridculous these days.Dun tell me they will ban anime just like what they did with computer games over a freakish incident that was started by a mentally ill/troubled person.people only know how to blame things but don't know how to take reponsibility for what they watch and do.

how lame is that? =p

You know, between completely desperate teens, ultra-paranoid politics and predator-behaving media, there is quite something not to take too literally.

As long as the crazed ones don't get violent, there is not much to fear (yet).

Another nice advertisement for anime again... And another line for those haters who don't even know what anime is about (and surely never read any).

In a good way. ^_^

Writing someone's name in that is, from my point of view, VERY immature. His classmates were not afraid of him, they certainly won't be now. They'll think he's an anime freak or something... which brings all the blame to anime. Boo-hoo.

I'm different. I'm a radical anime fan... which means I deviate from the otaku-norm ):-D In a good way of course.

Well, Since we invaded Okinawa -who don't consider themselves Japanese- one could say we didn't. Operations Olympic and Coronet never did take place. I'm sure you knew I was being facetious. Then again with the current mind set of some Americans... Mind anyone else I by no means mean to belittle the lost of life during the Invasion of Okinawa.

More like, depressed people watching supernatural animes. If I was depressed and watching Naruto, I would surely try to Rasengan someone.
.
Under continuing circumstances, situations are repeated everyday but the outcome varies. Where this depressed kid watched Death Note and attempted to recreate it by writing names down and was suspended another depressed kid could have just thought it was cool but impossible and just passed it off.
.
Blah, the world is corrupting itself.

lol Maya you have one too? ryuk says i can keep it as long as i give him apples everyday. ^^;

anyway i think the school over-reacted. instead of expelling them, the principal should get the teachers to sit down with the parents and discuss what made their children dislike the the classmates to want to "kill" them. and other personal problems as well.

This is hilarious! The author of Death Note must be proud of her work right about now. Another funny fact is that they are taking this in a serious matter.

I'm gonna show my friend who's a big Death Note fan this video, he's gonna have a good time with it.

Don't go blaming this entirely on the Death Note manga or anime. Back in around 1999 when I was still in high school here in the USA, there was an incident exactly like this one. It was two girls who created a "Death List," much in the style of Death Note. Both girls were suspended. While I didn't care of either of the two involved, I have to admit it wasn't something deserving that kind of punishment. Sometimes kids just do stuff like that. It's a form of release. Better to write it on paper in fantasy form than to actually brandish a firearm.

Well, US politics and a part of the population (the easily impressed ones?) get paranoid over anything lately, now that they know they are not invincible (Whoever was to begin with, anyway?).

I apologize in advance to the US fellows here for my unusual generalization, but I feel you have quite a hard time dealing with constantly anxious guys like them. Quite sad to witness indeed.

I think the kids would've been suspended just for having a death list even if it wasn't anime related. I just don't think it would've been in the media. It hasn't been that long since the Virginia Tech shooting. Whenever we have a shooting the schools all go into high alert and are suspicious of every disgruntled student or teen....I personally am suspicious of teens that aren't disgruntled....it's just not natural >_>;
In most cases the schools had plenty of warning signs and chose to ignore them until the inevitable happens. They're just covering their butts.

Now if this leads to a holy war on anime and manga then you will see ME go on a killing rampage. I'm tired of everything I enjoy being banned or white washed to be safe because parents can't do their jobs right or keep their little monsters under control. /end rant >.

A perfect chance to blame both the media AND foreigners! You think these reporters are going to pass something like this up?
They'd be hyping this to the hilt if the anime was called "Sneeze-Note" or "Charlie-Horse-Note".

Well children's mind are sensitive things, Death Note was there to solve the problem, kind of but not really. Better than school/mall/religious-gathering/apartment/campus shooting I'd say. America is very angry these days.

This is a side-effect of the shriking of the world cause by the information age. Any action preventing this unavoidable step in human-civilization is hindering its progress. The best thing to do is to teach children tolerance and openmindedness.
