Read about and see photos of Cosafe Maid Cafe at Windbell's and Zer0's burogu. I know that there is a maid cafe in Canada. Are there any in your region? Via Otaku.fm.
Huh... it actually looks like a nice place. For some reason I had an assumption it would be rather cheesy atmosphere. If I were in Singapore I'd give it a visit.
@Danny, Bug report: Seems that txt in post sometime doubles in wording during wrap around when posting. Ex. 'were' in above post, and 'Alberta' by marvin in Ocean Dome post. Seen it before, but doesn't happen all the time, so I don't know the exact fault.
Hmm... actually it only affects IE7, fine in Firefox and Safari. Not sure if you wanna bother then.
there is a maid cafe in Canada? I guess it must be in Vancouver or Toronto
There's a small one in Toronto, but it closed down about a year ago. I've never been to a REAL maid cafe in Japan to compare, but common sense is enough to tell me that our version was far inferior >_>
Ummm... the girls are nowhere near cute enough to spend $8 for a small coffee! Thats why they have hot girls in Tokyo - otherwise what's the point? Besides, my favourite place has to be the Maido Cosplay Hostess Cafe Bar (In Nakano) which is like a Miad Cafe with alchol which has really flirty waitress who look VERY sexy (they want you to spend a lot of money...). The best thing about this place is that the floors are made of mirrors! (short skirts + mirrored floors = best idea ever !?! )
@Sean - You're being a bastard here. We are running a decent and clean business. You can get your share of YOUR type of maid cafe at where ever you got it. We do not need to flirt around to get business. kthxbye
The one on the right is scary. Not so nice.
LOL... You had to say it...
Not to say it you couldn't (And I agree)
You read my mind! Poor girl, she's probably the nice one, too... *sneaky-sneaky* I wonder if Danny has ever been to any of the maid cafes in Japan though. (I'd be too embarrassed to enter. T_T)
cut her some slack guys. according to zer0 in his blog, she is 1 of the 2 longest serving maido there. for this she deserve a pat on the back.
but me wonder how the camera-shy pink maido looks like. ('~')
I tried to enter one and was turned away. Probably because I was wearing armor...
It probably causes something in the cafe to malfunction? I never knew there were such cafes in Singapore. The arm of Japan is long indeed.
There's one in Canada?!?!?! Where?!?! I want to apply!!! lol!
I wonder if there is age limit to go there? If there is no age limit, i will bring my friend there for his birthday next week, since his crazy about maids.
Nope, no age limit. =)
LOL @ the welcome carpet mat
Unfortunately I don't think we have any Maid Cafes in Oregon, or probably in the Pacific Northwest for that matter, unless its the one mentioned is in Vancouver Canada.
i-Maid cafe located in Scarborough Toronto. there was a previous news item on it
Nope, we got none here :(
i so want this as wallpaper! anyone? help? ('~')

Its From Pia Carrot - I'm sure Windbell has that
For anyone who missed it the first time. Here is the website to the maid kissaten near Toronto. http://www.imccanada.com/
Yum. The food menu is making me hungry.
I was thinking the same. ^o^ The maids are cute too. I really need to drive over to Toronto sometime soon.
Nice place, the maids look cute and the food look good.
I wish they'd have one maid cafe in Indonesia >_
I wonder if it'll become a good business if someone does establish one. lol. Then again, theres less cute girls (especially when they dress up in maid costume) around here. D=
yea rite... it would be on fire the next week... coz some people/FP* destroy it(U Indo's know what i mean) 4 religion 4 religion! yeah rite....... then they burn it down...
LMAO. Maybe you right. But then again, the cafe it self wont sell something "ero" right? So the FP* cant protest anything bout it. =p The problem is, will people come to the cafe or not. lol
It seems there is one Maid Cafe in Semarang, Indonesia, and it seems there will be another at Surabaya, also in Indonesia. In Jakarta? Well in Jakarta each year there is many Cosplay Party events so there's no need a Maid Cafe I guees.
now why can't IO have known about this while I was there last month?
Looks like Canada no longer has a maid kissaten. News is it has been closed since the end of November. According the news the owner was behind on his rent by some $8,000USD.
Richmond is part of Canada and it has two mad kissas =D
nope we got none here in NZ. hopefully someone will open the the first
There's one in Richmond, B.C. Canada, but it's nothing much really......
Unfortunately, the one in Richmond, BC can't even be considered a "maid cafe." It basically a regular restaurant with waitresses dressed in maid uniforms. There's no decorations at all and none of the service resembles a maid cafe. I don't think they even intended it to be a maid cafe -- they just wanted to dress their staff in maid uniforms and hope that it'll drive sales since it's different. But the good thing is the food is quite good. At least it was when I went a couple months ago. :P
i think i gonna move to singapore
Never has been, never will be. =( Gonna have to go to somewhere else to experience that one day,,, :P
oh no don't move over here. you'll suffer hard from anime withdrawal.
lol, even though our main source of anime remains the same: bit torrent? ^^
Due to the regulation? I heard they arrest someone because downloading anime from torrent. D=
OMG, that's just ridiculous. My deepest condolences, I certainly will always give oppositions to any government who object anime, manga and tokusatsu downloading. Unless they make a nice long list of anime, manga and tokusatsu available for purchase, locally, which doesn't seem to be happening in the near future...
That's Odex, the company which every singaporean otaku/anime fan hates. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odex%27s_actions_against_file_sharing
The food sucks, by the way. The only reason I'd order anything from there is so I can take photographs without having to be chased away. And I don't photograph the girls either. 3D tries too hard to be like 2D sometimes. Ugh.
All I had on my last visit was beer and some cheese fries.. which was average...
Not very interested....... i prefer Butler cafe:o
oh guys a reminder ! of you ever do visit. better go in the night. i once went to visit in the afternoon and there was not a single maid as they we all in school. so yup... public holidays or evening/night
My girlfriend is oppening one next year, here in Mexico. She and her asociates had been making some tests at local conventions, and things are going good. She has both maids and butlers. http://www.fotolog.com/ilc_maidcafe/15407613
nope none spotted in Malaysia. wish my country was more open like singapore.
For the next 25 years I don't expect to see a maid cafe in my country. =_=
50 years (possibly longer) here.. -_-
I was never aware of the fact that there was a maid cafe in canada? I heard of rumors of maid cafes being propped up at anime cons in the states, but not a full out establishment. Care to link us danny?
stupid departemen ke-moral-an won't let it, isn't it takeyo -_-U
You said it, Hendrik. Now if only those "morality department" people are really truly seriously doing their jobs properly, corruption, racism and poverty level won't be off-the-roof here. ^^
We have a Cosplay Cafe at a certain anime convention here in the UK, which works well - a couple of hours on a Sunday. Whether it could be used as a theme for a mainstream business I don't know - in the UK an establishment featuring young waitresses in costume would be considered sleaze. If it were presented as a "Victorian style cafe" in a seaside town it might work however...
Yep, been there and was quite disapointed. As you can see in the article from Zer0, beside the cute maids waitress, nothing about otakuness. The furniture is in wood like any irish pub, the inside is very small, no manga or anime videos etc... It dos not give the maid cafe ambiance I expected. Maybe Chimes is not the best place to do it. A good thing it exists but I'd like other alternatives.
ah.. an old post. anyone know if the one in Singapore is still alive? I read some bad reviews on it tho.. I wonder if there's any Haruhi theme night or something. haha!
i would want to try it for once.. but o one wants to go with me....
