Huh... it actually looks like a nice place. For some reason I had an assumption it would be rather cheesy atmosphere. If I were in Singapore I'd give it a visit.

@Danny, Bug report: Seems that txt in post sometime doubles in wording during wrap around when posting. Ex. 'were' in above post, and 'Alberta' by marvin in Ocean Dome post. Seen it before, but doesn't happen all the time, so I don't know the exact fault.

There's a small one in Toronto, but it closed down about a year ago. I've never been to a REAL maid cafe in Japan to compare, but common sense is enough to tell me that our version was far inferior >_>

Ummm... the girls are nowhere near cute enough to spend $8 for a small coffee!

Thats why they have hot girls in Tokyo - otherwise what's the point?

Besides, my favourite place has to be the Maido Cosplay Hostess Cafe Bar (In Nakano) which is like a Miad Cafe with alchol which has really flirty waitress
who look VERY sexy (they want you to spend a lot of money...).

The best thing about this place is that the floors are made of mirrors!
(short skirts + mirrored floors = best idea ever !?! )

@Sean - You're being a bastard here. We are running a decent and clean business. You can get your share of YOUR type of maid cafe at where ever you got it. We do not need to flirt around to get business. kthxbye

In Jakarta? Well in Jakarta each year there is many Cosplay Party events so there's no need a Maid Cafe I guees.

Unfortunately, the one in Richmond, BC can't even be considered a "maid cafe." It basically a regular restaurant with waitresses dressed in maid uniforms. There's no decorations at all and none of the service resembles a maid cafe. I don't think they even intended it to be a maid cafe -- they just wanted to dress their staff in maid uniforms and hope that it'll drive sales since it's different. But the good thing is the food is quite good. At least it was when I went a couple months ago. :P

OMG, that's just ridiculous.

My deepest condolences, I certainly will always give oppositions to any government who object anime, manga and tokusatsu downloading.

Unless they make a nice long list of anime, manga and tokusatsu available for purchase, locally, which doesn't seem to be happening in the near future...

We have a Cosplay Cafe at a certain anime convention here in the UK, which works well - a couple of hours on a Sunday. Whether it could be used as a theme for a mainstream business I don't know - in the UK an establishment featuring young waitresses in costume would be considered sleaze. If it were presented as a "Victorian style cafe" in a seaside town it might work however...

Yep, been there and was quite disapointed. As you can see in the article from Zer0, beside the cute maids waitress, nothing about otakuness.

The furniture is in wood like any irish pub, the inside is very small, no manga or anime videos etc...
It dos not give the maid cafe ambiance I expected. Maybe Chimes is not the best place to do it.

A good thing it exists but I'd like other alternatives.
