The space colonies that you see in Gundam? Ocean Dome was probably Japans first attempt in making an indoor colony. Also known as SeaGaia, the indoor beach closed down due to financial difficulty and has now turned into Pheonix SeaGaia Resorts without the beach. Another photo of SeaGaia in Wikipedia. Would have been cool to see what it was like.
4 sure. Plus lotsa bikini girls @_@
I don't think I would want to be the first to live in any experimental enviroment. Such as a space colony when they first start making them, I just see so many things that could go wrong, you know what I mean.
Toliets don't flush?
Pee floating around?
hey FatB, wasn't there something like this on Edmonton Mall? I can't remember much about it since I went to Alberta only as a kid, but there was a indoor beach there.
Yes, and they also have an indoor submarine ride, and a skating rink.. and soooo much more. I would be afraid of loosing air in a space colony.. and projectile vomiting.
@marvin, you're partially correct. It's a indoor waterpark (with waterslides), but no beach. Just beige colored pavement. Although big for an indoor pool, it's not anywhere close to the size of Ocean dome. It recently got shut down, and now reopened because of bateria contamination. Guess too many people pee'in in the pool. XD As for the other entertainment venues there: skating rink is still up. Believe submarine and dolphins are gone, but the lagoon with pirate ship is still there. Amusement park is still running even after the rollercoaster accident years ago. Mall actually close to bankruptcy, but government bailed it out cause of tourism. It's not quite its former glory.
That's cute to say. I wanted to dream a bit and I don't need to anymore. And I lied in fact.
Lied about what?
Is it closed already? Pity, ocean dome looks cool, I want to try to go there at least once..
Hey I've seen that spot earlier this year on TV in a Dutch travel program. ^^
The idea is pretty pimp. Too bad it fell through financially. It'd probably be banking if it was in Oklahoma.
They are building something similar in Arizona. One of the biggest waterparks in the world... in a desert. Genius.
wow. thats awesome. i'd hella wanna go there.
ummmm i wonder how are the waves created??
You have never been to a wave pool in Cali? They are just generated by a machine displacing the water to create waves. Pretty simple.
nop never heard of 'em
Interesting...
Sooo pretty! Yet creepy at the same time. I don't really trust those "fake waves"...something goes wrong and eveyone's wiped! X0 I love the sky in the first picture though, Really pretty.
Never seen anyone get hurt by generated waves, there are controls that make it hard to make them very big. Someone might get sick, but thats about it.
haha like the one in the ouran high school host club anime
About the fact it would be like paradise to me.
I think for some reason that your comments arent showing up on my computer.. I see you responding to COLORSUCKER too and I cant see his comments. Odd.
The most ironic thing is that was built right next to a real beach. Nonetheless the special attraction of the dome is the none sticking sand. and of course the all weather "beach".
