i'm convinced that game consoles will never have that kind of graphical capability simply because its not realistic and would destroy society as we know it. like already mentioned, if this was indeed reality, no one would bother with real life anymore, we'd all be in our own little fantasy world, and society would not function at all.
agreed, just like the hologram room in that star trek show. People would spend their entire lives in there fulfilling their wildest dreams and fantasies. I can see an alien culture arriving on earth, to see everyone dead, laying in these rooms.

When this happens, it will be the Matrix taking form. Or some LSD/ecstasy/other drug effect without using odd substances. If some are completely addicted to MMORPGs, imagine the effect of this if it were to be effective. Awesome and destructive at the same time. I prefer to remain connected to reality, one foot in a virtual environment and one in life as it is (studies, family, friends, work, etc.) and to be able to move easily between the two.

lawlz I haven't seen that commerical for ps2 in ages After seeing it, while in middle school, like 7 years ago, I was like omg in "2078" I will be dead and I cannot have this technology in my life time, what a load of bull and random things like " is sony trying to advertise ps2 or ps9 or saying that we are not capable to develop true virtual reality?" I was pretty critical then less so than now I suppose I was good commercial, I mentioned it recently I think, to my friend thinking of getting a ps3
